Challenging.. with a touch of easy

ok… so.. I’ve spent just over 100+ hours in the game. Mostly along the coast because I was to sh!t scared to move inland. (I’m sensitive to horror games like this, nearly lost my lungs earlier screaming at an unexpected mutant attack)

Anyways… I was busy with my daily chores, and then it hit me. No seriously… got attacked from behind and they F@ck3d me up good an solid. So there I was being dragged to some cave… again. This time though instead of climbing the rope and bolting in any direction with my heels hitting me behind the head, I had an epiphany which added so much more awesome to the game.

First some tips I noticed (don’t diss me. this is for new and experienced)

– Tried wearing dear skin? adds light armour which won’t deplete when you get hit.

– If you start a single player game, build a raft, and then convert the game to multiplayer, you as host will still have the raft. Though when on the raft, to guests you’ll be floating on air when using it.

– Those bonfires really are handy. The mutants tend to run into them setting themselves on fire. So build plenty around your camp.

– At the coast. You’ll find rocks sticking out of the water just a little bit away from the shore. Test the water. If it’s very deep you’re safe to build there.

– Don’t let cliffs at the shore discourage you. Easy to drop logs down the cliff to pick up later.

– Those bigass mutants bugging you? build two happy bday traps facing each other. Traps them like a rat and there is no escape

Anyway.. I can go on and on, but back to the point… msg me if you want any more info

So if you climb up the rope and find yourself in the large mutant village… the one with the modern axe stuck in the tree… BINGO.

At that hut, build a wall at the back and in front to cover yoursef. Build a shelter to save(you’re gonna need it), and then build rooms going outward and break the inner walls to expand the area. A bench and dryrack will be very helpful here.

—The Challenge—
At first things might seem peaceful, but give it a day or so and you’ll start feeling like constantine. All hell breaks loose in that camp when they find you. Plenty of tree sap is a must as you’ll be doing alot of repair work to the walls. So at least 2 sap collectors is a good idea.

—The Cave—
Going down those caves can put me on edge, but I’ve come up with a cool idea. A bit grinding play, but very effective. Simply collecing what I need to build skull lamps to light up the way. It forces you to go farming upstairs which adds to the challenge.

—The Easy—
Well this might be sort of a cheat, but it’s a fool proof escape root.
Whenever the sh!t hits the fan on top, grap the rope and head down below. You’ll find that every time you enter the cave, everything respawns. Go back up and the sh1t went away.
When you touch ground in the cave and you look to the right, there’s a cavern full of loot waiting for you every time you enter. Lighting the way slowly but surely will show you places in those caves you didn’t know existed.
I found a major loot cavern with too much too carry out in one go. (again… msg me if you want to know where. Too much typing right now 🙂

Ok so you’ve got the easy exit downstairs, the wealth of suitcases, cloth, ropes, dynamite, and circuitboards upstairs you can collect while dodging hell… what more could you ask for…

One last thing…. I bet you didn’t know that you can run up the thatch of those huts and the mutants can’t follow. I’d bet you’d be able to built a very cool base over the tops of those huts.

ps. I took me an exhausting amount of saving, loading, and swearing to get where I am now.
If you don’t experience that I am so F@ck!ng jealous.
