Overview
You may want to claim a NPC building. In 1.0.50 I did not find an ingame feature to accomplish this. This guide helps to find some values in your save data to edit building ownership (Owner Faction ID).
Problem
I wanted to build a corpse furnace inside the Hub walls. I used ingame editor and could use the furnance manualy, but my characters did not want to automatically burn corpses. They pick up bodies and just stoping.
To fix that I found my save at C:Users%username%AppDataLocalkenshisavequicksavezone and searched inside *.zone files with FCS. FCS is an original game files editor which in my case was at C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonKenshiforgotten construction set.exe.
Solution
With algorithm described below I checked every file which was updated recently.
NB! Please backup your save file.
- Open .zone file and click “Changes” button. It can be tricky to find the zone file. I made another guide for searching the right file:
[link] - “Change List” dialog opens. Find a record named “Instance collection”. Double click it.
- Weirdly named dialog opens (Title is “0”). On the left side there shoud be a list of instance IDs. Buildings IDs are like XXXXXX-zone20.32-INGAME where XXXXXX – is number. If a building built later than the number will be bigger. Double click any record.
- “Instanse” dialog opens. Find a record named “GAMESTATE_BUILDING”. Double click it.
- Another weirdly named dialog opens. Check the “name” record. If it is your building then remember a value of “owner faction ID” record. For me it was “204-gamedata.base”. Repeat steps 4-5 until the target building found. Update “owner faction ID” value.
- Save the file.
Result
Target building name shoud be updated.
Notes
Importing my save did not corrupt my changes. However when I played with the town markers inside ingame editor building ownership changes.
