Overview
Hello, and welcome to the first lesson of Class Mastery! Before we enter any topics, I want to give warning that this info is mostly my opinion, if not all of it, but i believe what this lesson beholds is useful to all players alike. What is Class Mastery? : Class Mastery is where I go over individual classes and provide tips and information about the pros and cons about certain classes. I will also show what the best maps are for each individual class and give information explaining why that is. If you would like to suggest or ask any topics simply inform me via messaging or comments, it is greatly appreciated! Are you a pro at this game? : No, I am not, by all means i’m far from the greatest player. Although I might not be the best player or even remotely close to being the best, I use logic and create tips based on how i’ve seen things in the game, through me and others. I would also like to point out that a lot of these tips and such provided by me are opinions and not 100% facts by any means.
Introduction to Carnotaurus
Carnotaurus is a part of the bruiser / charger class, and is the only sub-class that is available at the moment that belongs to the bruisers / chargers. It is one of the fastest characters in the game and will deal damage to enemies by ramming into them while sprinting. This happens automatically, so all you have to do is sprint straight at an enemy using the left shift key (keep in mind that you might have changed your keybinds, so sprinting might be different for you). It is great at dealing and withstanding much damage but can run out of stamina very quickly if you run around maniacally. The Carnotaurus’ role, or purpose, is to clear out large groups of humans. This is more effective in different areas and different maps though, so sometimes it’s better to become a better class instead. This is very important to help the smaller dinosaurs have a stronger fighting chance due to the humans becoming more spread out and / or creating smaller groups. Keep in mind that it doesn’t always work when trying to seperate, but you will still have a chance to deal great amounts of damage.
Carnotaurus’ Arsenal
Now that I have told you some backround knowledge about the Carnotaurus, it’s time to inform you of it’s attacks and give you some tips pertaining to each attack.
Carnotaurus has three total attacks, one of which is exclusive to the charger / bruiser class and acts more as a passive skill rather than an attack you have to activate. This attack is charging.
Charging
As mentioned, charging doesn’t need to be activated and can simply be used by sprinting. When sprinting, Carnotaurus will point it’s head down and ram into any humans crossing it’s path. The damage that occurs when being rammed flucuates though and it’s good to know why.
Carnotaurus’ charge will do from around 38 to 60 damage depending on how long you have been charging. If you stop charging during any moment the damage will drop back to the minimum, this is why you should make sure to not let go of the sprint button by accident. Charging for roughly a second will only achieve around 38 damage, while draining your entire stamina bar into one charge will do roughly 60. Due to all of the humans currently having 150 maximum health, a minimum-damage charge will take 3 to 4 hits to kill independantly. A maximum-damage charge will kill a human in 2 to 3 hits independantly depending on if it does slightly higher or lower damage.
Although Carnotaurus can dish out much damage, there is another factor that comes into play that any human must watch out for when facing this beast. If a Carnotaurus sends a human hurdling into a solid wall, that human will become more damaged. This acts much like fall damage, and can aid the Carnotaurus in killing it’s targets with even more ease causing humans to possibly die in one hit.
To see more tips for this particular attack, head down to the main tips section.
Although charging is a Carnotaurus’ main attack, it also has some normal attacks to use aswell. When in a pickle, a Carnotaurus can use these to thwart off attackers and possibly kill them. These attacks are the bite and body swipe.
Bite
Carnotaurus in real life has a very weak bite force compared to other medium to large carnivores, and is shown perfectly within Primal Carnage : Extinction and is used for more of a last resort rather than an attack that should be constantly used.
The bite attack is very weak and can not kill humans quickly at all, not to mention all the times you will miss the attack. Carnotaurus’ bite attack will do 25 damage when landed successfully and will require exactly 6 hits to finish off a single human. The bite attack is also fairly slow, but can be sped up by roaring.
Overall, the Carnotaurus’ bite attack is almost useless and should never be used unless out of stamina and caught in the middle of a group of humans. The roar should only be used when given the time to activate due to not being able to attack while roaring. Although you might have to find the time and place to roar, it can save your life if you use it right.
Pros and Cons of Carnotaurus
After showing you the different attacks of the Carnotaurus, i will now go into the pros and cons of this sub-class.
Pros
1. Carnotaurus has a lot of health
2. Carnotaurus can deal lots of damage to multiple targets
3. Carnotaurus helps seperate large groups of humans
4. Carnotaurus can stomp out humans from an area of high priority (such as GTTC capture points or the airlock in Contingency)
5. Carnotaurus can escape from humans easily
Cons
1. Carnotaurus may run out of stamina quickly
2. Carnotaurus will not be able to sprint, bite, or body swipe while having a net on it’s head

4. Carnotaurus can not turn well and may be circled by humans
5. Carnotaurus has very loud footsteps and movement sounds

If I can think up any more pros and / or cons for this list, I will add them as quickly as possible.
Tips for Carnotaurus
While playing as Carnotaurus I have found out ways to improve my gameplay and help with some of the problems pertaining to this sub-class.
Tip 1 : After playing as Carnotaurus for a while I have noticed myself, and many others running out of stamina very quickly when sprinting, because of this, I have established a set of rules for myself when sprinting. These rules can be expanded or contracted to however you like them, but you should follow the same concept. To fix this dilemma I set myself a rule to only use a small amount of stamina to travel, unless I am escaping humans. This way I will not use up a lot of stamina by the time I encounter the humans, because if I used up more than have my stamina, I woukd run out of it completely while fighting. The second part to this tip is that I also use my stamina is short bursts. Everytime you are charging into humans, use your stamina in bursts. It’s great to run as much as you can all the time, but this will deplete your stamina extremely quickly, and this is a great way to fix it. Everytime I run, I like to run into the humans a certain amount of times in one run. Usually, I will charge into them once and run past them, only to stop sprinting, turn around as quick as possible, and sprint right back. Not only does it help you save a little stamina it will also save you time when trying to turn around because of the faster turn speed while walking rather then sprinting. Whenever getting around less then two-thirds of your stamina while charging at humans, it is great to just bail and get out to heal and / or replenish stamina. This can really save your team some lives and get back in shape to attack once more.
Tip 2 : Whenever playing this game, I notice many people running straight at the humans, despite the many other ways to get to them. Due to the Carnotaurus’ lower stamina problems, it is great to try and find an alternate route to the humans that can save your stamina and your help aswell. Ofcourse this is more of a general tip that applies to all classes, but because of the low stamina of the Carnotaurus, it is important to try and improvise as much as possible. For example : Instead of running straight forward on the ‘middle-bridge-area’ in Contingency, it is a lot better to go around and enter through the large, ground level airlock doors located on the left and right of the ‘middle-bridge-area’.
Best Map
Finally, after covering a lot about the Carnotaurus, it’s role, pros, cons, tips, and basic backround knoledge, it’s time to mention the best map that is suited for this class.
Best Map : Contingency!
You have heard me use it as many examples during this guide, and that is because Carnotaurus is the best on this map. Not only are the bridges, airlock hallways, and the ‘anti-tyrant’ airlock area small, compact, and narrow, it is where most humans are located, and usually in large groups. This is PERFECT for Carnotaurus as it cannot turn well. Due to the hallways and bridges being narrow Carnotaurus’ can run into them without having to turn much to hit a human at all, and because of the ‘anti-tyrant’ airlock area being small, compact, and almost always filled with humans, humans are sitting ducks, waiting for the Carnotaurus’ to crack their skull open with a 40mph KAPPOW to the face!
