Overview
Guide that will help you to collect all the items, paints, mods and outfits related to Brotherhood of Steel——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–With around 1000 hours in the game, I had finally reached one of my goals since the BETA days; To collect each and every Brotherhood of Steel related item, plan and outfit in the game. It has been a long journey, but it has come to an end like each journey has to at some point.Because of this, I feel like I’m eligible to make this guide [lol]. I’ve been planning on doing it for quite a while now, but didn’t want to do it before I owned each and every piece of the “collection” myself.I know there’s wiki site/videos and posts where to get certain things, but I’m almost 100% sure there isn’t one big guide for all of them. Which is the reason why I’m here to make one, to get all that scattered information into one single place. Also the fact that game is about to be launched in Steam and with the Wastelanders update new players will join – so this guide might become handy for new players as well.___________________________This is my very first guide, so please feel free to point out if something seems out of place or you feel like there’s need for changes. I’m more than happy to listen! If you find any errors within the information I’ve provided, please point it out so I can correct it! I want this guide to be as accurate as possible. So if you know for example some other way to obtain a thing listed in this guide, you are more than welcomed to message me about it – since before I add it I want to see some sort of proof so it surely isn’t just “I think I did” sort of info.Without further ado, lets get started! I hope this guide will help you out!
CHANGE LOG || UPDATES
Since the game is still developing, we might get more items later on. If that happens, I try my best to keep this guide up to date. I’m going to edit this guide if something new gets added and will inform people in this section in case I haven’t had time to add new item(s) in the actual guide yet.
All changes to this guide will be listed in this part!
——————————————————————————————————-
NEWEST CHANGE LOG UPDATE
– 08/07/2021 –
I’m aware of new items added to the game with Steel Reign update. Will be updating them to guide as soon as I have some time for it!
– 17/03/2021 –
– Added BOS Recon Armor
– Added BOS Recon Armor Helmet
– Added BOS Recon Armor Mod Plans
– Added Ultracite Prototype Paint
– Removed/Crossed over Vendor Bot Wallace location*
*When our lovely purveyor Murmrgh moved from Berkeley Springs Station to live in The Rusty Pick, Wallace got her old place. I’ll update Wallace’s new location to the guide as soon as I can!
——————————————————————————————————-
Change Log seemed to get rather long, so I’ve decided to move it to Google Docs!
Guide itself will always include newest change log update so anyone checking in can easily check what was changed, but you can view previous logs HERE[docs.google.com]
*LINK IS CURRENTLY BROKEN – I’ll remove this notification once I’m able to recover the file?
This way it stays nice and clean and I’m also able to include which items are still missing from the actual guide. 😛
——————————————————————————————————-
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
Though, before letting you dive too deep, lets mention some important things you should keep in mind while collecting these items and using this guide!
————————————————————————————————————————————-
1. Containers have 12 hour loot cool down
This means when you loot a container, you need to wait 12 hours in order to be able to loot it again.
2. Server hopping is your friend
It’s a multiplayer game after all, so someone might have looted the location before you. If you can’t find the item from the location that’s mentioned in this guide it just means location was looted before you. Containers don’t have shared loot!
NOTE: As Fallout 1st Member, you have private worlds. But due the how Bethesda works and handles the game these worlds aren’t brand new when you join to one. They are used worlds so locations could still be looted even if it’s ‘your private world’.
3. When looting lootable clothing or plans from the world
Keep in mind that these places also share their spawns with other clothes and plans. This means you might not find exactly what you are searching for. If this happens, change server and check the place again. Keep in mind if you loot the plan, you have to wait 12 hours in order to loot a plan from that place again!
1. If you don’t know the location, quest or event
There’s two sections in this guide explaining where each location is [with maps], how to trigger certain quests and where you can find mentioned events. So if you come a cross unfamiliar name, check the sections down there!
2. How do I see what item looks like?
By clicking the name of the item from —|| LIST OF ALL ITEMS ||— section.
If you are unfamiliar with sta.sh [in case you feel unsecure for clicking such a link] it is DeviantArt’s “stash box” for content you don’t want to publish or are still working on. I prefer using this while handling a lot of images, because sta.sh link is extremely short and helps by keeping editing side of the guide simple and clean. You can read more from DeviantArt: [link]
3. Not so mobile friendly guide
This guide has quite a lot of adjustments with the images and text. This means that on mobile version this guide might look weird, things could be out of place and hard to navigate. So I highly suggest to view this guide while on PC/Laptop etc.
4. When you see two asterisks (**)
This means there’s additional information or notes related to that item or thing at the bottom of the section. So please remember to check it in case item you are looking for has this!
5. When talking about specific spot at the marked location
There will be maps that have ‘smaller map’ on the corner of that same image. Small corner image shows the spot that picture next to the map was taken from, hopefully making it easy to locate the spawn!
6. But your Steam profile says you haven’t played the game?
I’m playing using Bethesda.net launcher. As an old player, I got game for free on Steam. Though since Fallout 1st Membership nor in-game earned atoms won’t carry over, I’ve decided to stick with Bethesda.net launcher.

NOTE 4: You may notice that VI is missing – this would be Sentinel, which currently isn’t in the game and never been obtainable. Officer, by judging the rank logo, should be between Paladin and Sentinel, but in game it’s simply named “BOS” while it’s painted.

Tactical Field Pack[sta.sh]
NOTE 5: Salute emote is different from Tricentennial Salute[sta.sh] (if you want to view Tri Salute while used by person in PA, click the text). While Tricentennial emote looks similar when used in Power Armor, it isn’t and outside of Power Armor Tricentennial emote isn’t anything like BOS Salute.

[please refer to section “QUESTS and EVENTS” for more information if needed]
NOTE: There’s apparently a bug with Event drops. So this piece can be obtained from any Public Event if the bug happens [extremely rare to happen]. POWER ARMORS and WEAPONS
Ultracite Power Armor
– Obtained by completing Brotherhood of Steel questline from main questline. Quest that rewards this armor and gives you access to plans to build it is called “Belly of the Beast”.
Plans can be found from the terminal inside the room that the quest ends to, but if you forgot where; Taggerdy’s terminal on Fort Defiance’s top floor, in the room which has lasers that will block your way in until you have completed “Belly of the Beast”.
T-60 Power Armor
– Plans to build each part can be obtained from the Event “Distant Thunder” along with other Power Armor plans and Power Armor Mod plans.
– Plans to build each part can also be obtained from Cranberry Bog and The Mire treasures **.
– Can be found mainly around the Cranberry Bog region, but can also spawn elsewhere. When found, usually has 2 to 3 pieces with a fusion core. These locations can also spawn other Power Armors so it’s not guaranteed that you’ll find T-60. For Cranberry Bog spawn locations, see the map:
NOTE: Because this Power Armor isn’t “BOS” item, I won’t go in-depth where to find them all. For complete list and more detailed locations, please check this wiki page[fallout.fandom.com].
The Gutter
– Reward for completing side quest “Waste Management”.
Plan: The Gutter
– As a random rare reward for completing “Daily Ops”.
Plan: Crusader Pistol
– As a random rare reward for completing “Daily Ops”.
Hellstorm Missile Launcher + Plan

– Plan drops as a random rare reward for completing “Daily Ops”.
Plasma Cutter + Plan
– Normal, non tradeable version drops as a reward for completing “The Best Defense” quest.
– Plan drops as a random rare reward for completing “Daily Ops”.
____________
** Treasure Maps can be found all around the map or from location ‘bosses’ [enemies with the crown icon]. If you need a guide to find treasure locations for each map, I’ve personally used this guide[dulfy.net] for it.
ARMORS and UNDERARMORS
BOS Fatigues
– As a random reward for completing “Forbidden Knowledge”.
– Lootable from Thunder Mountain Power Plant.
– Lootable from Appalachian Antiques.
BOS Knight Suit
– Lootable from Thunder Mountain Power Plant.
– Plans to build can be found from NAR Repair Yard.
– Plans can also be found from Fort Defiance’s top floor. **
BOS Officer Suit
– Plans to build can be found from NAR Repair Yard.
– Plans can also be found from Fort Defiance’s top floor. **
BOS Soldier Suit
– Lootable from Thunder Mountain Power Plant.
– Plans to build can be found from NAR Repair Yard.
– Plans can also be found from Fort Defiance’s top floor. **
Combat Armor [Arms/Legs/Torso – Heavy/Light/Sturdy]
– Sold by Vendor Bot Wallace at Harpers Ferry and by its counterpart at Whitespring Resort [Free States Vendor].
– Sold by traveling vendor Grahm. **2
BOS Recon Armor**3
– As a random rare reward for completing “Daily Ops”.
NAR Repair Yard spawn location:
Fort Defiance spawn location:
Thunder Mountain Power Plant spawn location [BOS FATIGUES]:
Next to broken footlocker on the ground.
Thunder Mountain Power Plant spawn location [BOS Soldier/Knight Suit]:
Go inside using the front door, you’ll see front desk shown in the left picture.
Circle and arrow shows open door to the room where the suit spawns.
Second picture is from that doorway. Circle is the spawn.
Appalachian Antiques spawn location:
Vendor Bot Wallace location:
____________
** Personally I’ve obtained these plans from NAR Repair Yard, but I know people that have gotten the plans from Fort Defiance’s location as well. Still, because I haven’t personally seen plans there this isn’t 100% confirmed location for me. So I suggest trying NAR Repair Yard for guaranteed find (if someone hasn’t picked the plan yet, of course).
**2 Grahm doesn’t have a location where he stays at as he’s ‘traveling’ vendor. You can randomly meet him, but best chance to make him spawn is to own workshop around The Forest or Toxic Valley region. Exception is the seasonal event “Meat Week”, when he will remain at “Grahm’s Meat-Cook” event location. For more information about Meat Week can be found from wiki[fallout.fandom.com].
**3 Do note that Recon Armor needs to be collected piece by piece. This means you need total of 6 plans to complete full set (chest, both arms and legs + helmet). Helmet is listed to headwear as it isn’t counted towards “set bonus” and doesn’t offer any defensive value. It’s only cosmetic.
MOD PLANS
BOS Combat Armor Material Mod Plan
– Plans can be found at Brim Quarry.
– Plans can also be found at Grafton Steel.
– Sold by Vendor Bot Greg at Grafton. **
Brim Quarry spawn location:
On top of the wooden crate.
Grafton Steel spawn location:
Broken locker on the right, top shelf.
Vendor Bot Greg location:
Inside the building with two entrances.
Protective Lining BOS Underarmor
– As a reward for completing “Defiance has Fallen”.
Resistant Lining BOS Underarmor **2
– Sold by Vendor Bot Phoenix located at Watoga Shopping Plaza and Brotherhood Vendor inside the Whitespring Resort.
Shielded Lining BOS Underarmor
– As a random reward for completing “Forbidden Knowledge”.
Treated Lining BOS Underarmor **2
– Sold by Vendor Bot Phoenix located at Watoga Shopping Plaza and Brotherhood Vendor inside the Whitespring Resort.
Ultracite Power Armor Mod Plans
– All plans drop from Scorchbeast Queen.
BOS Recon Armor Mod Plans
– All plans are available to buy with Gold Bullion from Regs inside of Vault 79.
____________
** Originally, these plans appeared randomly to Greg’s inventory. This was changed in the Patch 5 [January 29/2019] where they changed it so Vendor Bot inventories are ‘set’ and not randomized. Though, this was broken quite a long time and BOS plans were missing making plan spawn locations only way to obtain these. For now, it seems like bug has been fixed and they appear in Greg’s list, but do note that if you don’t see them yourself it might be a bug!
**2 You will first see only Treated Lining. Once you’ve bought the plan and learned it, log out and back in and you’ll be able to buy Resistant Lining. Once you have these plans, they won’t show up anymore and you cannot buy them again.
PAINT JOBS
T-60 Power Armor BOS Rank Paint Jobs **1&2
BOS (Officer)
BOS II (Knight)
BOS III (Knight Sergeant/SGT)
BOS IV (Knight Captain/CPT)
BOS V (Paladin)
BOS VII (Elder)
– All can be obtained as a random reward for completing “Forbidden Knowledge”.
BOS Reclaimed Paint**3
– Part of Brotherhood Recruitment Bundle.
BOS Minigun Paint Job
– Obtained by reaching Overseer Rank 33 in Nuclear Winter gamemode.
____________
** You can obtain each Power Armor paint once per character! Once you’ve learned the plan, next dropping Paint Job will be the next rank. For example if you get Knight, learn it and bring in more Technical Data, next Paint Job will be Knight SGT.
**2 BOS I (Initiate) isn’t obtainable anymore. Please refer to “‘LEGACY’ ITEMS” section of the guide for more information!
**3 Reclaimed Paint was advertised on T-60 and guide also includes picture of it, but this paint job can be applied to any PA so far!
C.A.M.P
Brotherhood Roundtable
– As a reward for completing “Forging Trust” quest.
BOS Scouting Tower
– Part of Brotherhood Recruitment Bundle.
Barricade
– Part of Brotherhood Recruitment Bundle.
Barracks Locker
– Part of Brotherhood Recruitment Bundle.
NOTE: BOS Collectron and BOS Banner aren’t obtainable anymore. Please refer to “‘LEGACY’ ITEMS” section of the guide for more information!
OTHER THINGS
Greeting/Hi/Salute Emote
– Part of Brotherhood Recruitment Bundle.
Tactical Field Pack
– Part of Brotherhood Recruitment Bundle.
——————————————————-
—|| QUESTS, EVENTS and OTHERS ||—
Belly of the Beast
Part of the main questline. Starts after “Recruitment Blues”.
Defiance has Fallen
First part of Brotherhood of Steel questline in the main questline. Will be triggered after completing “Coming to Fruition”.
Forbidden Knowledge
This sidequest will trigger whenever you pick up a Technical Data if you have completed main quest “Defiance has Fallen”. Technical Data can be found from containers around the map, but most of the time they spawn inside safes or locations related to science, studies, research etc.
One really good place to ‘farm’ Technical Data is Whitespring Bunker. There’s a military wing full of tables. These usually hold on from one to even six Technical Data per server.
You get access to the bunker while proceeding main questline far enough and after you have access, you can use Whitespring Service Entrance to enter the Bunker [faster than using bunker which has vault door].
Recruitment Blues
Part of the main questline. Starts after “Defiance has Fallen”.
Waste Management
Sidequest that can be triggered by going into the Burrows, looting Scribe’s body for holotape ‘Burrows mission brief’ and listening to it.
Forging Trust
2nd quest in Steel Dawn questline. Questline can be started at lvl20 by listening Brotherhood Welcome broadcast.
Disarming Discovery
5th quest in Steel Dawn questline. Questline can be started at lvl20 by listening Brotherhood Welcome broadcast.
The Best Defense
9th quest in Steel Dawn questline. Questline can be started at lvl20 by listening Brotherhood Welcome broadcast.
Distant Thunder
Event, where you have to kill few Scorched. This Event can spawn around the Cranberry Bog.
SAVAGE DIVIDE PUBLIC EVENTS **
Savage Divide is one of the regions and it’s quite big. Still, some of the events may seems like they don’t belong to Savage Divide. Here’s a list of public events of the Savage Divide:
Distinguished Guests, Guided Meditation, One Violent Night, Uranium Fever and Always Vigilant **2.
Daily Ops
Daily Ops are missions that are meant for lvl50+ players.
Right now (17/09/2020) there’s only one type of mission “Uplink” in which you have to boost signal repeaters while fighting against hordes of enemies with a mutation. Location, mutation and enemy type changes each day.
To access Daily Ops, just open your map and left corner – there’s a box menu you can use to join/start Daily Ops and other members in your team can join you.
Brotherhood Recruitment Bundle
A bundle you can currently buy either from in-game Atomic Shop in the section where you can buy Atoms or from Bethesda’s own site. Price is $29.99 and currently items in this bundle aren’t available any other way.
____________
** Private Events or Events with their own loot tables don’t count! So Free Range, Enclave and Workshop Defense Events aren’t counted!
**2 Always Vigilant counts only if it’s located at Savage Divide.

—|| ‘LEGACY’ ITEMS ||—
What are ‘legacy’ items?
These are items that are no longer obtainable. Quotation marks, because sometimes Bethesda brings back already removed items making it possible that these items might be seen again someday.
Elder’s Battlecoat – was limited time Atomic Shop item. You were able to get this by buying Limited Time E3 Bundle. [June 10 – July 8/2019]
BOS I (Initiate) – was removed from the drop pool once other Paint Jobs were added. You were able to obtain it as random reward for completing Forbidden Knowledge quest.
BOS Beret, Steel Dawn Army Fatigues, BOS Collectron and BOS Banner – Rewards from Fortifying ATLAS (Project Alpha [4.-18.8/2020] and Beta [27.8. – 10.9/2020]) community event. You were able to claim Beret and Banner before Beta started and Fatigues and Collectron few days after Beta ended.
Ultracite Prototype Paint – Appears in the Atomic Shop time to time. I include it in this section mostly, because it’s usually available one week at the time before it’s gone again. Remember to check Atomic Shop every Tuesday if you are searching for this specific paint!
