Overview
The first part of the guide involves finding all the licensed alchemists and getting their recommendations for the exam. The second part of the guide involves getting the cgs involving side characters and how to get some of the less accomplished achievements. This guide includes maps as reference on the locations to go to and places to avoid before the exam and maybe even after the exam.
Walkthrough (Ertona to Outskirts Path)
Remember to switch to “Dash Move” by pressing RB after changing the options in the setting interface. There is no major drawbacks when running so just keep it on most of the time.
You can learn the “Roast Rabbit” recipe after Firis pass the exam and leave Ertona for the second time by approaching Firis’s mother.
The Ertona Underground Lake can only be explored after learning the recipe, “Air Drop”.
Further details are in the second section of the guide.
Note that the maps that I omit are locations I think that are too high level before the exam or are unimportant in the process of getting the cgs and achievements.
Do utilise “fast travel” to move between landmarks and campfires to save LP. The game does give you another chance for Firis to return to a campfire after she faints by giving another 20 LP to spare. Just don’t let Firis faint twice in a row or some loot will be lost.
The red star that I include in this maps represent “Dangerous Monsters”. Do avoid them on higher difficulty levels till better gears or items are obtained.
Starting in this area, there are boulders to destroy. I believe you can obtain more loot by using “Mining Bomb” to destory these boulders. To learn the recipe, use “Bomb” 5 times and destroy the boulders 10 times.
For more details about other recipes, google Atelier Firis Recipe Ideal. There’s a near completed list on all recipes made by snowsakura112 avaliable on Google Docs with link available on a GameFAQs post. Some recipes mentioned here is based on that.
Tiana should be appear in Firis’s atelier in this location mistaking Firis for a witch. Keep a lookout for her in Merchen, the town located on in this location, after she visits Firis twice or thrice.
The landmark below the top left campfire is a good place to farm for “Gravistone”.
You need those to craft a flying broom after Firis pass the exam. It is incredibly useful when trying to explore different locations.
Dion is the first licensed alchemist to get a recommendation from. Ilmeria will tell you she got a recommendation from him after meeting her in Merchen for the first time.
When doing the quests for Dion, there is one of them that involves cows. You can find them to the bottom left of his atelier or to the south of the nearest campfire.
There is another icon I use for “Dangerous Monsters” and that is the five pointed star.
(Note: Level 70 “Dangerous Monsters” do not appear until after the exam, which is most of them). These monsters are far more difficult to fight relative to the location’s difficulty level. They are all at least level 50 and mostly level 70. Just avoid them on Normal and Hard difficulty until you have leveled and grinded enough. More specifically (for Hard difficulty), having at least “Well Rounded Power” trait on all equipment and being around level 40. It’s the bare requirement for maybe half of them.
All Stat Boost x All Stat Super = Well Rounded Power
All Stat Boost x All Stat Enhance = All Stat Super
(Any two) ATK DEF Boost x ATK SPD Boost + DEF SPD Boost = All Stat Boost
ATK Boost x DEF Boost = ATK DEF Boost
ATK Boost x SPD Boost = ATK SPD Boost
DEF Boost x SPD Boost = DEF SPD Boost
It’s the same method to get All Stat Enhance.
There isn’t much here. Just go to White Fog Forest to find the second licensed alchemist.
Firis meets Annelies for the first time here.
You can’t explore the whole area without the flying broom.
Just complete all the tasks that Aurelie, the village elder/licensed alchemist, tells Firis to do to get the second recommendation.
Keep a lookout for Tiana. She is lurking around the edge of the town.
Remember to do the quest for the guy on the beach. Firis can learn “Distilled Water” by progressing his quest chain. This is probably the most synthesised item I have and the easiest way to combine traits. “Distilled Water” can cycle itself since water is one of the components.
You can cycle between “Neutralizer R” and “Distilled Water” by adding the “Fuel” component to the neutralizer; it’s the second star for the first line of the synthesis for the neutralizer. Maxing the first line DOESN’T add the “Fuel” component to the neutralizer.
Useful traits to cycle are “Well Rounded Power”, “Super Quality” (better quality means more stats, firepower, effectiveness, etc.), “Ultimate Destruction” and “One Hit Kill” (useful for harder difficulty).
Well Made x Pro Perfection = Super Quality
Quality Up x “Quality Up +” = Well Made
“Quality Up +” x “Quality Up ++” = Pro Perfection
Big Destruction x Intense Destruction = Ultimate Destruction
Destruction Up x “Destruction Up +” = Big Destruction
“Destruction Up +” x “Destruction Up ++” = Intense Destruction
Ultimate Destruction gives bomb related items 50% more power.
Critical Finish x Half Critical = One Hit Kill
Critical x “Critical +” = Critical Finish
“Critical +” x “Critical ++” = Half Critical
One Hit Kill kills all monsters except for “Dangerous Monsters” and “Boss Monsters”.
Even then, the trait still gives 66% chance to crit which is definitely useful.
Getting this trait on Vio Ice Bomb is probably one of the faster methods to clear mobs since Vio Ice Bomb targets all enemies if you get “Total Freeze” on it. It’s the fourth line of the synthesis, maxed bar.
Walkthrough up to the exam (Flussheim to Reisenberg)
Kai approaches Firis when she arrives in Flussheim and goes to the town square.
You can find Luis here for the first time in the tavern. Tiana also approaches Luis after some events with Luis. Try to buy “Neutralizer Revolution” from her if you can. Firis learns most of the neutralizer recipes from the book except for Neutralizer P and Rainbow Neutralizer. Look up on Atelier Firis Recipe Ideal to know how to make the others. The Atelier Firis Recipe Ideal is a very useful Google Doc since not everything can be learned using Recipe Idea Points.
Logy is found in a blacksmith shop. I am mostly only going to mention the names of the side characters who have events later on.
You cannot get the third recommendation from Ren, a licensed alchemist, until the chain of quests to build a ship are completed and after Firis traveled to Claudel Prairie. You have to return to find Ren and complete her tasks.
There are four ideas for ship parts needed and four people to approach. They are Kai, Logy, Mea, and Escha.
Mea is Kai’s sister who is shown after Kai finished talking. Escha is the girl playing with Mea.
Do get the “Precision Instrument Set” from Mea’s shop if possible. You need all the help you can get to increase alchemy level and proficiency level for items. You can have duplicates of it set up in the atelier but time is needed before Mea sells another one at her shop. The exp from these items do stack. Since one gives 8 exp, this means that having 5 of them gives 40 exp.
I only set up two at once since I allocated three spaces for big containers/safes and one space for “Corneria Doll”. I can never have enough space for loot/items and I need the doll for easy duplication of items (Atelier Sophie, anyone?). The doll can only be obtained after the exam from Sophie.
This is the location of the yard and where the waterspout is seen.
Kai is here most of the time.
You may have notice another blue arrow on the map like in Ertona. These areas require “Air Drop” like I have mentioned earlier which can only be learned after the exam.
To get to Weist Plain, you can either get 50 “Broken Stone” for the bridge builder or just go through the “Bridge Crossing Cave”. Just go through the cave; the bridge will eventually be fixed even if Firis didn’t help.
However, if you aiming to get a 100% completion for recipe, you have to go Weisslark to look for information on how to fix the bridge. I categorised the Observation Instituition into four main sections and the book is found around the bookshelf on right side before the fourth/last section. There will be a question mark that appears hinting that the book is there. You can still learn the recipe even after the bridge is built.
Firis should be getting “Alchemist Dress” from an event with Liane if she haven’t gotten it in Flussheim. Having an extra trait line for “Synthesis with no Catalyst” with it on is extremely useful.
Grau-Tal, the town in this area, is where Norbert, the fourth licensed alchemist, is at. You may choose not to come to this area after getting the first three recommendations but this guide is aimed at getting events with side characters, which is why I included him and the fifth licensed alchemist. Do not fall for his trick if it wasn’t made clear enough by him.
Please do not give Norbert a low quality bomb if you want to get the recommendation. At least a Rank C Bomb is needed according to other players. Mine was Rank A at the time so I didn’t know what’s the threshold. Norbert will tell you to make another bomb if you fail. Just follow his instructions and advice to get the recommendation from him.
The left side of the map is not accessible unless you detour through “Past Paradise” or have another bridge builder fix the bridges. There’s nothing important there until after the exam.
Do note that the caves in this area are literal death traps. The right one have a dragon and a black golem while the left one have five dangerous monsters and a Puni (the Puni is safe despite expectations). Some will only appear after gathering. It’s easier to get Zapping Water from jellyfish rather than from the left cave.
Nothing much here.
Annelies is found here permanently after she relocates here from Flussheim.
Nothing of note here. Go to North Auoro Snowfield to find another licensed alchemist.
Flocke, the town in this area, is the place to find Kirsche, the fifth licensed alchemist.
Firis needs to have an alchemy level of at least level 25 to complete the quests for Kirsche and get her recommendation.
“Reactive Catalyst”, which is learned from the quest chain by Kirsche, can help to transfer 2 traits at once for all synthesis, and that is very useful if transferring 1 trait isn’t already useful.
Tiana can also be found in this town. She can always be found here and in Faave Hills selling items after some events with her. Do get the “Instrument Set” from her if she sells it. It’s at half the price of the one sold by Mea and only gives 3 less exp. Do grab the stuff she sell for cheap the first time she starts out her store.
Do note that specific merchants do sell some items with higher components compared to what Firis can gather. Take note when buying stuff from merchants by checking with your respective X button. I am only saying this now as I know for certain that Tiana does sell Puniballs and Puni Fluid with higher components.
You can access the hotspring, which is the closest building to the campfire, only by completing the quest given by Henrikka. 50 wood is a lot though and there’s no way around it. Kirsche will ask if Firis have visited the hot spring if Firis hasn’t already done so before the exam.
Just go through this location to get to Reisenberg. Nothing too important here.
Nanna will approach Firis and invite Firis to her shop when Firis arrive in Reisenberg.
Pamela is found to the east of Reisenberg selling her talisman. She do sell some stuff with pretty high component numbers.
Edel, the town’s mayor and also the examiner, is found in “Central Government Office”.
There’s no real reason to sign up for the exam earlier and restrict yourself. Just two weeks before the exam should be enough to view the events from Edel after Firis signed up.
To be able to fight Sophie in the exam, Firis needs to score enough points to do so. There is another guide available telling you how to do so.
Do note that it’s better to switch to at least normal difficulty if you are planning to fight Sophie. Ilmeria on Hard is manageable with some grinding while fighting Sophie is plain helliish. Aura Blitz deals 100+ damage and Aura Break deals 140+ damage on Hard, Sophie has 400+ hp and Firis is on her own for the exam. Unless Firis has some amazing equipment and items, it is near impossible to defeat Sophie.
Recommended things to do after the exam
1st: Get a flying broom for Firis. Go gather some Gravistones in Faave Hills if a quest didn’t pop up and prompt Firis to craft a Gravicrystal and then a flying broom.
2nd: Go to Reisenberg and meet Sophie and Plachta. After they join your party, Sophie will give Firis a “Cornerlia Doll”. The doll will replenish every item used outfield even if the count reaches zero after it is set up in the atelier and given loads of milk. Most merchants sell loads of milk for cheap so there’s no need to worry about not having enough.
3rd: Go find Atomina and Meklet in Weisslark if you haven’t already met them and have them automatically appearing in the atelier some time after the exam. Do their chain of quests until the flying ship is crafted. Just talk to any of the licensed alchemists or Plachta. There is also a protrait of a flying ship in Silent Labyrinth; it’s in between the entrances to the underground.
Questing for CGs and events involving side characters (Licensed alchemists)
Most of the events involving the side characters are relatively simple. You just have to keep talking to them every other day to progress their events and do the quests given by them.
The following sections will inevitably include spoilers as that is the only way to know if some of the side character events are completed.
There are no other cgs except the one I used the thumbnail in case you are looking for others.
For Dion
Just keep talking to him to progress. He will eventually ask Firis to find him a teacher and Firis have to talk to Plachta to progress. The events end with him gaining confidence and the townspeople relying much more on him.
For Aurelie
Same process as with Dion. She will give Firis a Fox Tret costume, which gives higher movement speed when worn, along the way. Firis is required to synthesize another compress for her at one point. Firis is also required to synthesize a Phoniex Staff for her after that. The events end with her being moved by Firis and almost shedding a tear.
For Ren
This is more tricky to finish as fighting a boss monster is a requirement. Kai is involved in the events as well.
Firstly, you have to approach Kai after the exam. He will tell Firis to look for Ren to ask about the problem she have. In the process of the quest chain, Firis will learn how to make a “Air Drop”. Try to make sure that they have high quality or their effective duration would be shorter.
The maps below show you how to get to the boss monster in question.
Do take note that this area does not require the use of Air Drop. This means that if the supply of Air Drop runs out and Firis entered this area in the process of exploration, she will return here instead of Shanty Street/Claudel Prairie.
There is an exit in the next area though. You have to weave through the monsters in this area to get there.
You only get to fight the boss once so choose wisely the difficulty you would like to fight it on.
There’s always the chance to fight a similar species in Ertona Underground Lake and that one does respawn.
There is always the option to fight him later when you are better prepared. Just circle around it to go to the warp circle to the north of the area to get back to Shanty Street.
After defeating the boss, return and find Ren to report to get lectured. At least two of her following events require Firis to set up her atelier in Flussheim to happen involving the stern expression she usually have.
After her events, approach Kai to in order to get the quest for the Flussheim festival which is the way the people of Flussheim thanks Firis for defeating the monster.
There will be a CG involving Ren, Mea and Escha during the festival.
Approach Kai after the festival and listen to him talking about Firis themed goods to end the chain of events.
For Norbert
The only way to get all his events is to progress through Liane’s events, which involves a boss monster. The furthest you can get without doing Liane’s events is only up to the point where Norbert gets lectured by the village elder.
Report to Norbert after defeating the boss to put his heart at ease. The items her sell also greatly increases in quality after that. Some point after that, he’s not at his atelier but at the town monument paying his respects. There is a CG of him and Liane involved.
For Kirsche
There isn’t much involving her as well. Just assist her in making friends. You can find her up the stairway in town if her atelier is locked in the process of the quests. The events end after she manages to make friends with kids her age.
For Edel
Just go through her chain of quests. They involve her policy making decisions for Reisenberg. There is also a gathering of licensed alchemists in the process of her event. There may be a need to visit all five licensed alchemists at least once after the exam.
At one point, she goes to Nanna’s shop to confide about her failed policy. At another point, she will ask Firis to accompany her to scout out Flussheim.
Her chain of events end with her making a policy where she discusses about policies with the people of Reisenberg instead of making the decisions for the policies herself.
Questing for CGs and events involving side characters (Other side characters)
For Henrikka
It is not really events but more of dialogues for her case. Just keep going to the hot spring to see more dialogue involving her. There are 6 CGs that can be obtained by entering the hot spring.
2 CGs for the normal hot spring course, 3 CGs for the Group Course, and a CG that includes Shannon during the Group Course. The last CG can be viewed in “Extra” after 1 ending is done but cannot be viewed in game without Shannon.
Firis have to enter the hot spring at least 5 times to unlock the “Group Course” for the hot spring.
There is an extra event with Henrikka when the snow is melted using the “Artificial Sun” and the hot spring is closed during the duration of the item’s effect.
For Tiana
Same thing, just keep approaching her to advance her events. There may be a need to change where Firis meets her either in Merchen, Dona or Flocke. Her events involve deciding what jobs she want to do. The final event involves her telling Firis that she will not decide on a single job to do and instead leave her choices open.
For Luis
Be prepared to wait a long time between her events. It takes days or maybe even weeks for her next event to happen. Buying stuff from her might be necessary as well. In the process of the events, there a point where she loses her ability to sing.
Firis has three different items that she can synthesize to get back Luis’s voice. Cough Drop is probably the easiest one. Synthesizing 3 Honey and 3 Amber Sugar did the trick for me. There may be a need to gather Cobalt Grass according to the Atelier Firis Recipe Ideal Google Doc,
After getting Luis her voice back, she will thank Firis by holding a concert for her in Reisenberg’s tavern. You will get a CG in the process of the concert. Her chain of events ends with her saying that she ran out of money holding a concert for Firis and have to do more work as a merchant.
For Pamela
Just keep talking to her and buy some stuff from her as well. At some point Sophie will ask why Pamela didn’t return to Kirchen Bell by flying back since she is a ghost and Firis doesn’t believe her at first. Firis then challenges Pamela to prove that she is a ghost.
The chain of event ends with her almost saving enough to return to Kirchen Bell and deciding if she wants to bring back souvenirs.
For Nanna
Just keep talking to her like with Pamela and also buy stuff from her.
Her events are more of dialogues. There might be a need to have Revy in your party for one of the event to happen.
In order to progress her events, DLC character, Shannon, is required. Nanna asks Firis if she could help recruit two females with specific characteristics in order to increase sales at the shop. After Firis have gotten Shannon and Liane to help, there’s a CG involving both of them and Nanna. The final event/dialogue involves Firis + Liane receive pay for their help and Nanna asking them to buy more stuff from her in the future.
For Logy and Escha
Approach Escha and Logy at least once after the exam. At some point, Escha will show up in the blacksmith and work for Logy as some kind of poster girl.
During the course of the events, Logy closed his blacksmith to go exploring and gathering. There might be a need to check back a couple of times. At one point, an event involving Escha will happen where she thinks she scared away Logy. Logy will return surprised to see that Firis and Escha are waiting outside the blacksmith.
Escha will ask Firis to assist her in making a hammer for Logy as he will eventually leave Flussheim to travel to other places and the hammer will serve as a memento from Escha. There will be a CG when she gives the hammer to Logy.
The events end with Escha thanking Firis for assisting her in making the hammer.
For Annelies
Just talk to her to advance her events like most of the others. Some of the more prominent events involve her conversations with Revy and Kald, her travelling to Reisenberg to ask people to contribute information, having Firis to make a book repair kit for her, and for Firis to look for a lost book.
Firis will get to keep the lost book which will teach her the recipes for the best fire, ice and lightning bombs: Peta Bomb, Einsof Ice Bomb and Blitz Crystal. However, these bombs have bombs as crafting materials, which are Ori Bomb, Stahl Ice Bomb and Lightning Crystal respectively, before they can be synthesised. There’s nothing else after Firis got the book.
Maps of remaining locations
Bosses/Dangerous Monsters for the remaining maps are determined based on their strength relative to the normal monsters in the area.
Bosses labelled with five-pointed star are generally much tougher than ones with four pointed stars.
The two DLC maps Riesentrain and Sacred Vestier are not included.
Air Drop is needed for this area.
You cannot run during battle with the boss that’s at the middle of the area.
Air drop is needed for this area.
There are large crystals blocking the route with a red “X”. You can bomb them to get through.
Do bring a lot of bombs if you want to collect materials from crystals all over the area.
The boss at the end of the location is similar to the one at Sea Roar Throne.
You cannot run from the battle if you decide to either fight it or triggered it by accident.
You cannot run during battle with the dragon.
You need an airship before you can travel to this area.
The red lines indicates the places that you can travel across using the flying broom
Twin Gods Emuel is found in the middle of this area.
You cannot run from battle with bosses labelled with a five-pointed star in this area.
Palmyra is at the quest location. You cannot run during a fight with her.
Extra
For the “Heavy Drinker” achievement, visit the tavern in Flussheim when Angriff and Revy are in the party.
The following CGs may require DLC character Shannon to be obtained before the events become available.
There’s a CG between Tiana and Luis where Tiana learns how to sing from Luis.
I’ve gotten this event in a tavern in Reisenberg after I’ve gotten Shannon.
After assisting Shannon in doing her duties as a knight, there’s an event involving characters from Atelier Sophie: Sophie, Plachta, Oskar, Pamela and Julio, behind the Central Government Building, where they meet up together. There’s a CG for this as well.
