The Binding of Isaac Guide

Comprehensive Guide to Champions for The Binding of Isaac

Comprehensive Guide to Champions

Overview

What are those strange, different colored enemies? They’re Champions! This WIP guide summarizes the enemies’ existence and shows you every last one of those pests you can find!

What are champions?

Please note that this guide is incomplete and will be finished soon.

Champions are strange, different-colored, and sometimes bigger versions of enemies that randomly appear in The Binding of Isaac. This guide is dedicated to tracking down every last one of the possible champion enemies that you can ever fight.

You probably will be confused when you see one, but it’s completely normal, especially if you have the “Everything’s Terrible!” achievement, which makes these foes common. The lore about these enemies is simple – they have a chance to replace normal enemies in a room. They usually, as mentioned earlier, are bigger, different-colored, and even have more HP than normal enemies..There are also champion bosses, which change the behavior, size and stats of the boss they replace.

Some enemies simply cannot appear as champions, such as flies, spiders, Moters, Big Spiders, and the like. If these enemies are not listed under any complete headers, assume they lack champion versions. Alternate bosses, such as Steven, C.H.A.D., and Gish cannot appear as champions. The same goes for every final boss except Mom.

By the way…many enemies in the game LOOK like champions, but are not. Case in point with the Pooters and Fat Flies, which are related enemies, and the Host and Red Host as well. The Super Seven Sins also look like champions, but are not.

Pictured is the Super Pride miniboss – it might look and act like a champion Pride, but it’s a completely different boss.

Note: Cheats were used to force champions to appear and make this guide easier. Some of the pictured scenes with over two champions are nearly impossible to encounter in the real game.

Champion Enemies

In this section, the champions will simply be pictured, as besides the increased stats and size, no other changes are made to the enemies.

Some enemies are possible to spawn as champions, but I have not obtained pictures for them yet.

Champion Bosses

Bosses can spawn as champions as well. They usually have different attacks than their normal versions.

The Basement/Cellar

Monstro

Pink: The gimmick of Pink Monstro is that there are…well, two Monstros to deal with. Not much else is changed beyond size differences.
Black: This Monstro is bigger and does not behave differently elsewise.

Larry Jr.

Green: This Larry variant simply shoots projectiles along with his normal attacks. That’s about the extent of it.
Blue: Both Larries are noticeably bigger and do not spawn poop.

Gemini

Green: The two parts of Gemini are detached.

Duke of Flies

Green: Spawns many projectiles and Moters.
Orange: Spawns Spits.

Famine

Blue: Shoots projectiles along with the normal attacks.

Pin

Black: Black Pin shoots projectiles in many directions instead of IPECAC shots. The projectiles are shot when he jumps out of the ground and when he would normally shoot IPECAC balls.

Widow

Black: Shoots many projectiles and spawns Big Spiders instead of Sacks.
Pink: Is smaller and much faster. Spawns Guts instead of Sacks.

In conclusion…

Thanks for reading this guide! I hope you learned something from it. If you find any champions in the Basement/Cellar, put it in the comments! I’m trying to complete the floors one by one.
