Overview
!!!Abandoned Project!!!This guide is for Conan Exiles, named “Conan Petiles”. This Guide will tell you everything you need to know about Pets and obtainable pets in Conan Exiles.
Introduction
Hello!
The reason why I made this is because I did not find any information that I needed to hatch pets, food, locations of pets and Animal pen resource farming. This Guide is still under making and I will try to update this as much as I can. If you wish to help me, you can add me on Steam and/or Pm me.
Enjoy!
Obtaining your pet
In order to obtain a pet, you will need to find a baby animal in the world, once you do find one you go close to him and press your Interact key, E. The baby animal will then be picked up and be placed in your inventory.
You can also buy eggs from vendors across the Conan Exiles world!
- Eggs slowly hatch over time into babies.
- Baby animals slowly decay over time into a Carcass, unless you convert it before it expire.
- Dragons and Elephants can not be tamed or obtained.
Baby Animals
Here are all the baby animals in all different biomes you can obtain by interacting with them.
Here is a great Map Tool that I use to find the Pets I want to grab.

It is really great, just enable it in “Discovery–>Baby Animals” You hover over the small pet icons and you then see what pet that is.

Hatching – Rearing Pets
To convert a baby in to a grown animal you need to build an Animal Pen[conanexiles.gamepedia.com]. There are three different tiers of animal pens. Different animals are required for different pet types. Each Animal Pen can hold 5 animals, the higher tier pen the higher tier quality animals you can have.
If you got a egg, it needs to be hatched in your Inventory or in a Compost heap[conanexiles.gamepedia.com].
It takes 48hours for it to hatch in your inventory, if you place it in a Compost Heap it will then take 1 hour and 11 minutes. When the egg is hatched you place the Pet in the Animal Pen.
- T1 Pen can tame Hyena, Shaleback, Gazelle, and Ostrich
- T2 Pen can tame boar, camel, croc, rocknose, shoebill, spider, panther, jaguar, tiger, wolf (Can also have T1 Pets)
- T3 Pen can tame locust, rhino, bear, frostwolf, sabertooth (Can also have T2 & T1 pets)
Pet Food & Greater Pets
List for your Pet’s food.
Pets have a preference of food – the more appropriate food you give a baby animal, the higher chance it is that the baby animal grows up to become a special version.
Pet food is used in the Animal pen for rearing and for resource production.
Pet food can also be KIBBLED , meaning that if you go into the Moonlight Grove dungeon and get White Flowers from there, these flowers can be combined with various foods to create “Kibbled versions” of said food (for example, combining the White Flower with Savory Meat will produce “Kibbled Savory meat”). This is done in any cooking station (Campfire, bonfire).
Adult Animal
Once your baby pet evolves to adult you can then either place him down in the world, make him follow you or make him stay there and defend. You can also store the pet in a chest (THAT IS CONSIDERED ANIMAL ABUSE!)
Some pets do have special attacks/critical hits that inflict a status effect.
I am not sure if this is everything, I will update if I miss anything.
- Wild Boar: Crippled
- Sand Reaper: Poisoned
- Sabretooth & Greater Jaguar: Bleeding
- Shaleback: Sunder
Pets & Hunger
Pets can die from hunger. If the pet does not have food in their inventory, they will die after a while.
There is a special item called a “Feed Box”[conanexiles.gamepedia.com] that is learned at the same time as the “Apprentice Tamer”[conanexiles.gamepedia.com] feat is learned. This item is a placeable that, when placed, distributes its inventory to nearby pets.
Feed box and Thrall Pots have a range of about 20 foundations. There’s no real limitation on how many pets can be fed by each pot, it depends on whether you are able to refill food quickly enough so the pot doesn’t run out.

OUTDATED – UPDATING COMING
- The developers have not been in a position where they’ve had the time to dedicate for it.
- For consoles it’s been an issue about performance, having increased run speed allows players to run too fast for the consoles to load the world.
- You could also run of the map.
