Survival | Tutorial for Beginners | Learning The Ropes – Day 1 (This Guide Series Contains Spoilers)

Tutorial for Beginners to Survival Mode who have no idea what they are doing, or just want a little help.

In this tutorial you will learn the basics of what to do on your first days of survival.

Once you hit “New Game” you will then get taken to a cutscene, which contains a little backstory of the main protagonist “Barry” which will basically be “The Player”

After the cutscene is over you will wake up on a deserted island, all alone. you will need to break apart the leaves to gather some coconuts to quench your thirst. I recommend grabbing all the coconut wood before leaving, too.
On your way over to the big island, there should be a chest in the water, open it and get it’s resources.
Also on your way over there is a pearl if you want to look for it, it’s in a brown shell (Once you find your first pearl, keep the design/pattern in mind. It’s the only oyster type that can contain pearls.) which you need to open using the right mouse button. that’s only if you want though, not your most important thing to do.
Once you get to the big island, put four logs on the crafting area in your inventory to make a Crafting Table, then place it on the ground (be warned, Crafting Tables break after just so much use and you can’t pick them back up, alongside furnaces.) and make yourself a sword. Swords are crafted like in Minecraft, only in a diagonal fashion, so the stick is in the bottom left corner, while the other two components are placed in the middle and the upper right.
Once you get your sword, start looking for boars. When you find some, kill them! once you get 2 leather you can make a small backpack… And by the way, sorry to burst your bubble but you can only make a “Regular Backpack” with a string now in the center. You can’t just craft it with 8 leather like in the Wii U version, but I’ll talk about this more later on.
Once you are done with your backpack business, head to the south side of the island (the back/bottom/booty basically) and find the “hidden room” (it’s not that hidden…)
Once found, go into it and mine some stone, make stone tools on your Crafting Table and start chopping down some coconut trees for resources.
When you’re in the cave I recommend mining the coal, you might want some torches.
You should chop down a mango tree for your food source or kill some pigs and make sausages, too.
Don’t get scared when he says you should find safe shelter, because on the first night there is only one cannibal out to get you. Simply kill him with your wood (or stone) sword, and once he is killed make use of your night! Cut down an oak tree and gather 90 leaves, make 10 local maps, then use 9 to make a world map, local map helps with finding your way around the island you’re on (and orientation.), And the world map is very useful for exploration.

BONUS SECTION: Buckets: if you want to, get 9 Grass/Fern/Plants then head to your Crafting Table. Place three Grass Plants on the Crafting Table like you would when crafting a Sword, and place them like this 3 times. Grab the Ropes off the table and lay them on the top of your Crafting Table. Grab 5 Wood Planks and place them with a hole in the center of the Table and… Vaula! You have a bucket. Go outside when it is raining to fill it up, then you can drink out of it. Have Fun!

if you want some more help, check the in game Survival Guide. I’ll also continue to update this guide when I have time. Thank you!

Survival | Day Two – Moving Forwards to Get a Boat | Shark Patterns |

Trying to get to the point where travel is easy? well you’re probably possibly for sure maybe in luck!

So you all may know that you will probably get bored with what there is to offer where you’re at, right? Why just own one island when you can RULE THEM ALL! MWAHAH-
…Right, *ahem* Well whip out your world map! you’re going to get a boat and face some… SHARKS! *GASP!*

Don’t worry, it’s not that bad pipsqueak… Erm, friend, right. It’s not that bad, friend, ol’ buddy, ol’ pal!
Here’s just a quick overview of their patterns. (You can skip this if you think you can handle it or wanna be surprised.)

When you are on land, they swim towards the island and then swim wherever they feel like it around the island or other structures in the water.
When you are in water, they all automatically start swimming towards you, swimming around anything in their way. If there is only one you should be able to swim around carefully and keep whacking them. (Be sure to dive underwater, first! Bobbing up and down can help swim around, and I swim in circles personally. Sometimes I flopdoodle (Yes, I made that up.) so… Just a fair warning, it could end up in a *CHOMP*)
When you are on a boat, they swim wherever in the world, go after fish, and really just act normal! …Unlike you. 😉

So, as stated, get your world map out, hover over it in your hot-bar and Right Click on it, it’ll pop up in the top right corner (easier to look at than another game I know *Wink Wink*) if you want it smaller, right click again.
Head South (Upwards) and you should see a wavy rainbow barrier, touch it and hit “Yes” you will then traverse to the north (you can also go east, but north is where this tutorial takes place, and there’s eagles at E6) once you get to the next sector, swim fast to the island before sharks get you, don’t listen to the worry-some Barry, because there’s only the one way. once you get on the island start preparing your base for night, near the middle of the island there should be a small batch of coal in a ditch, dig the tunnel to get some coal and once you get all the coal, you can use it as a base. I highly recommend you get yourself a crafting table and make yourself a sword, sadly, during the night time you have to sit in the cave… doing nothing… like minecraft… if you have time before night fall you should chop down some trees.

once the sun comes up, grab your sword and get ready, because you’re gonna kill some sharks!
once you get the shark parts you need either craft a Raft, Helmut, etc.

Fantastic Pearls: And Where To Find Them

in this section I will put coordinants to the best islands to get a lot of pearls early in game, and other sources.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: to open clams press Right Mouse (ZR for Wii U/Switch/PS4 editions.) Then break with Left Mouse (ZL for Wii U/Switch/PS4 editions.)
the ones with pearls are brown with lines, kind of oval, some do not have pearls.

if you have noticed, some days at E5 and F7 the shopkeepers have black backpacks, in game it is known as the Big backpack, you can get it with 30 pearls to add an extra 10 slots (40 total) it is great for travel and all players should try to get it eventually.

the first stop to getting lots of pearls is actually F6 (Start Island) you can find a decent amount by searching the map’s ocean.
now, the second stop is E5, do the same thing, search the whole ocean, you should have between 15-20 pearls. (There is a pearl hidden in the room with the water/stone, you’ll find it pretty quick.)
now go to G7, one of the greatest places for pearls, go ahead and head to the center pool, there are 7 whole pearls just sitting in that middle pond! one you grab them, head to H4 (You will need a boat or MAD SKILLS) there are 5 pearls amongst the chests in the shipwreck and then some in the waters around the ship, CAREFUL AROUND THE SHARKS WHEN DIVING.

now if you want to Pickaxe Cannibals, Archers and Explosive Archers will drop a great amount of pearls, but only on later days (Day 20 onwards). they also drop TNT if you are looking for some.

you can find more pearls at other locations, but I will have to do more research.
take your pearls and get what you were wanting, Big Backpack highly recommended!

More coming soon!!! Comment for any other help for now!

Crafting Table of Contents – A Guide To Crafting, Duh.

This section isn’t quite as long, but that’s because it doesn’t need to be tall to shoot its shot.
This is the Table of Contents… For crafting. If you don’t like crafting then… Boohoo.
The crafting is similar to Minecraft (Who would have guessed? Me neither!) but it is a little different with the controls.

The ways of crafting… Is an ancient art used by blacksmiths (This is inclusive for everyone so whitesmiths are allowed.) artists, and many others alike, and has held strong through the ages.

To get started, you must have some items in your hot-bar. I mean, how would you craft with nothing?!
After getting items, press the I key to open your inventory. After opening your inventory, you’ll notice a box of 4 slots in the upper right side of the inventory screen. That is your basic crafting screen. To the left of the inventory screen you’ll see an area with the same 4 squares, but I’ll explain more on that later.
To craft, left-click on the item you would like to craft with, and then select the slot in the crafting cube you would like to place the item on.
For crafting recipes, merely press the H key and browse through the recipe guide. Or, if you prefer, when you select an item you wanna craft with, look to the left (Yeah, I said we’d be back to this.) you’ll see different items pop up over there. If you click on one, the box will show you how to craft the item you selected. You’ll notice the arrow underneath the box, if it turns white when you select an item, it means you have enough resources to craft that item. If you left-click the arrow, it’ll put the supplies necessary (if you have them) into the crafting cube.
When the item you’re trying to craft is ready, you can left-click and hold onto it and drag it to the slot you want it to be in. And voila! (Pretend the accent mark is there in voila. I don’t have a Spanish keyboard.) you’re ready to roll… Or to fit the theme, sail I guess.

To craft a Crafting Table, you’ll need 4 logs of any kind. When using a crafting table, the 4 slot crafting cube will now be a 9-slot cube. You can craft many more items with this. So, yippee.

Now, here’s a few more things (or just one measly thing really.) If you have a stack of items, either hold down the left mouse button, or… Hold down the CTRL (Control) key while clicking to grab the whole stack.

Wow, you actually read all this? Hope this helps you out!
