Overview
I will get straight to the point: when I saw only one viable option to chose from, when it comes to portrait of my main character, I couldn’t stand it. So after a while of digging through game files I found a solution. (Sorry for my english; it’s not my main language).
How it’s made?
- First of all you need .dds file editor, preferably GIMP, with .dds plugin, downloadable from here: [link]
- Next you have to find file caled: creature_icons.dds . It should be in: (Letter of drive, where you installed your game):Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonSpellForce 3bin_win32texturesinterface (I suggest making copy of said file).
- Then you have to prepair your own portrait in any format, in size 256×256 pixels.
- Next, you open the file in GIMP, and find portrait from character creation you would like to replace. I recommend using rectangle selection tool. Portraits are about 256×256 pixels in size, and are placed one by one, so be careful to not select part of neighbor of your target.
- When it’s selected just copy and paste your portrait, compile layers together (anchor icon, on pasted layer) and save. Done! Now you have your own, customized portrait in game. Good luck 🙂
