Cyber's Guide to Dinosaurs for Primal Carnage

Cyber’s Guide to Dinosaurs

Overview

In this guide I will teach you the basics and strategies of all the dinosaurs.

Start

Hello reader, this is my first guide. This guide will teach you the basics and the strategies of using the dinosaur classes on Primal Carnage. Note that I will add more to this guide as I learn more on this game. If you don’t understand something, be sure to ask in the comments. I will reply! 😀 This guide hopefully will make you unstoppable!

Pteranodons

The fastest dinosaur/reptile, they can swoop, reveal humans and have the strongest bite (besides rex/spino) A very useful class if you know how to use one.

Flying
You gotta be a skilled flyer to be an expert pteranodon player. Try swooping, flying inside, grabbing imaginary humans or ask your friends to be your targets without crashing. This way you can avoid getting shot and not falling into a group of humans.

Grabbing
Grabbing humans is a popular ability by pteranodons. They can swoop unexpectedly, dive down and fly off with a human. You often see pteranodons do this and wanna be one. Its not as easy as it looks though..

You have to be extremely accurate to grab a human, even when its not shooting you. You need to be just above the ground, and not too high. Just don’t go too low! rather be higher than lower to the ground where you crash.
Try to get lone humans. Fly up high, then when you spot a human dive in. Fly behind them as they run, then grab them. Hold shift as you’re holding them so you can fly faster. You automatically drop the human when you’re stamina runs out. (Shift makes stamina go faster)

Pecking

Its a 3 hit kill when pecking. Stronger than a raptor, dilo and carno. What I do is find a human being attacked by a raptor or dilo, I come in and peck the human. Since the human is injured, it often takes 1 or 2 pecks to get this kill off that dino. I call this “Stealing Kills”. It is very irritating when somebody steals a kill right? Well, that means they know how to play.

Roaring

Pteradons can reveal human locations even by accident. Keep roaring as you fly, but don’t stay too far away from the ground. Roaring at the flight limit won’t mark anyone. Roar at a group of humans so you get a higher score every time one dies. Try not to roar at a lone person as you try to take him on, but then a raptor comes in and just stole your kill.

Notes

Also, try to not approach a human head on. Scientists head on are dangerous, so if you’re flying after somebody head on, keep turning left and right. They have worse aim when you keep moving.

Snipers are very annoying when they start camping. Try to take note of the campers and avoid getting sniped by turning to your side. You’ll look like a line which is obviouslly hard to shoot.

Pteranodons may seem like useless flying monkeys in the sky, but a skilled ptera is a successful ptera

Raptors

A very popular class. The most mobile land dinosaur, it has a fast sprint, the highest jump and a strong attack, but not all use these skills correctly.

Pouncing
Heh.. I used to be such a pouncer. I didn’t even know how to scratch attack someone. These days I rarely use the pounce. It is a very effective attack though, in the right place..
Pounce on humans that are alone. Never pounce on grouped humans as you’re just asking to be killed. You can try pouncing when there is a rex as they get distracted, but the observant always get ya.
If the humans are scattered everywhere, well thats easy kills. But if there are humans grouped up, I use a better strategy.
Once a human is dead, they respawn. Simple game logic, but they don’t respawn where they are grouped. They respawn somewhere else in the map. So, hide somewhere NEAR the grouped humans and find the people rushing to the group. Pounce them and the grouped humans are likely to be killing some rex or carno. You can also go on a roof to see more landscape and find these humans. This strategy can be used for many games.

Also never pounce a trapper head on. When attacking a trapper, jump when he shoots his net. Pounce while hes restocking ammo.

Stamina is very valuable with pouncing, make sure you have at least a half full stamina bar as pouncing takes up stamina.

Take note that if you have pounced someone and you see some pathfinder rushing up to kill you, press SPACE to get off the human. Rather get off and finish him off with a scratch as you rush away.

Scratching
Another attack by the raptor. Most nooby players ignore this attack comepletely and go with suiciding pounces. This attack is a 4 hit KO, but sometimes its misleading. It says you have hit the human but you haven’t. Go closer to the human and start running and circling the human. To them you’re a bullet going round and attacking him.

Don’t stop moving while scratching. Even if the human is idle he might just pop back on and kill you.

Also try to steal some more kills. Find some dilo attacking a human. Since your bite is stronger you have a higher chance to take the kill. With another raptor just scratch or pounce to get an assist/kill.

Scratch any pounced raptors as you get an assist.

Roaring

A human group attack. Roaring drains your stamina and makes your bite speed go loco. Roar before you rush in as you cant bite while roaring, but when you’re done roaring rush in and start going spaz.

Instead of spazzing at all the humans, try to concentrate at one human at a time. Remember a 4 scratch kill is all you need. Keep moving as you are scratching.

Remember roaring drains all your stamina. You most likely won’t escape a battle but you’ll end up with some kills or assists.

Use your jump in the game too! it helps look for humans. You can also jump onto an unexpecting human and kill them.

Raptors are very strong dinosaurs. Try to have a little raptor or dilo buddy with you on your quest to conquer these humans. They can back you up and make you less of a target. You can also steal their kills 😀

Dilophosaurus

They all view this poor dinosaur as the runt of the classes. Yes, they are the smallest, slowest, lowest health, weakest bite and horrible jumping dinosaurs of the game. They seem underpowered, but in the right hands they can be better than a rex.

For me when I first got the game, I never touched the dilos. Whenever I see a pro guy with topping the leaderboard mountain as a dilo I wanted to be like him. I practiced with dilos for a long time and I’m still getting better.

Spit

The most iconic ability of the dilo. Its a very long ranged attack which acts like a sniper. You press CTRL to crouch and go into “sniper” view. In sniper view you can snipe with the dilo’s spit much better. Even a spit which isn’t direct can still blind and hurt the human.

The human is blinded for about 2 seconds. He may still look pink with spit but he can probably see now. Spit him again and bite while circling and sprinting. Sprint while you’re circling so he can’t get a good aim of you. Spit him about 2-3 direct times before jumping in. The dilos also have good camoflage if you got the skin packs.

Another good thing with spitting is by going on high areas. Go on a roof or something and start sniping everyone. Be aware of snipers, so make sure your roof has a place to hide behind.

Make sure you practice your aim with dilo sniping. Your friends can help as targets and most of the time you have to aim a little higher than your target as gravity weighs down.

Bite

Dilos have the weakest bite, but they can bite fastest. You can bite twice in a second. When biting make sure you spat on the person and while he is blind start biting him. Never be slow, keep circling and biting as he turns around trying to find this small dinosaur.

Roaring

Dilo spits run out every 2 direct spits. Roar to refill your “spit ammo”. The roar refills quickly so don’t worry about it. Make sure you roar alot.

Notes
Dilos are the smallest and concentrated less on. They are also very slow so stamina is precious. Jumping takes up alot of the stamina so keep that in mind, also keep roaring.

Also get the dilo skins. The first one is very good with grass, so is the third. The second skin is good for night/dark places such as airbase or GTC docks.

Carnotaurus

UNFINISHED
Another misused dinosaur. These dinosaurs are most useful for group attacks, they are the fastest land dino, have 2nd most health and 3 different attacks.

Ramming

The most effective and strongest way to attack. 2 full rams can kill a human, and yeah. You need to make sure the human doesn’t dodge your ram so make sure you turn when he spots you.

Most of the time you should ram humans who are turning their back. Also, in a group, gain full speed and ram them. Then wait for 5 seconds and repeat. You will get lots of kills this way.

Bite

A weak bite. Make sure after ramming don’t stop and bite at the group of humans, you can only bite one person at a time. You need to bite the lone people, prefferably after ramming them.

Whack

I call them whacking. Press the right click mouse button to whack a human. Whacking them mostly sends them off like Team Rocket. I mostly whack when in a group batte or the bloody humans are circling me.

Roar

The roar is useful and bad 2 ways. After you roar, you gain health when you attack. Your attack strenght is also slightly lowered. It only lasts 20 seconds so use it well.

Notes

When a human is circling and making you turn one way, turn the other way and they would not see that coming. You could also walk away and ram them.
You can jump and crouch. Also be wary of your health and stamina.

(I don’t play carno much, I’ll add more here)

Tyrannosaurus/Spinosaurus

The largest, strongest, limited dinosaur in the game. Everyone wants to be one, because they get easy kills noob or not. They are easy to control, easy to use, but some people still struggle. Also I will teach you the strategy on how to get the unreachable.

Bite

Your main attack. One bite and goodbye human, you can also gain health from biting. Try to bite more than stomping as you benefit more.

You have more range of attack with biting. When you bite a person turn around and once you’re done go back to attacking.

Stomp

Easy to do. Just find a group of humans and run over them, very easy kills. Trampling is mostly done by accident which is funny 😀

Roaring

Don’t roar when you are attacking some humans because you cannont bite. Roaring briefly increases the health of the other dinos, and roaring refills quickly.

Scratch

Only used by the spino (right click) you scratch with one of your claws and the human flings away. 1 hit kill.

Strategy

When you are a rex and trying to reach some humans in a cave or building, try to hide somewhere pretending you are gone. The humans will then come out searching for you then you sprint at them and bite. Also you can pretend you can’t reach any further when you can and when the humans come closer to shoot reach forward and bite. I use this strategy alot.

Notes

Humans always shoot for the rex. Be aware. Also at around 1000 health go refill as humans shoot you on the way to food. You’ll have around 500 health by then.
