Dark Souls Boss and Enemy Guide for DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED

Dark Souls Boss and Enemy Guide

Overview

Hi, this is Bora. I am a DARK SOULS veteran and I can see some new players struggle while playing DARK SOULS. In this guide I will show you an easy way to beat this game and still have fun. Please rate and comment, thank you! [UNFINISHED]

Introduction

This is a very popular meme since the release of this game. It might be quite depressing for new players but it is true. You have to learn parrying, backstabing, weaknesses of certain type enemies & bosses etc. SO, Git Gud.

Areas

Northern Undead Asylum

This area is basically the tutorial area (!) of this game. Asylum Demon is very easy after you pick up your items and enemies are just low damage hollows. After you finish the area and travel to Firelink Shrine, you can come back if you crawl like an egg in the crow’s nest for a surprise boss, if you walk through the floor where you fought Asylum Demon.

Firelink Shrine

Your only half-safe place ingame. Nothing much to talk about it. Just don’t mess with the skeletons early-game. You can just run a couple of times to pickup items from that graveyard.

Undead Burg

This area is the real introduction of DARK SOULS. This area contains a boss, a Black Knight, a Drake, some mid-tier hollows, Solaire of Astora and Havel (if you have Master Key you can fight him without going to Darkroot). Taurus Demon boss fight is not that hard to deal with, since he can be cheesed very easily. You can just climb up the tower and do plunging-attack several times. Black Knight and Drake is the real threat of this area in my opinion. You can checkout the Enemies section for some tips to take them out.

Bosses [1]

Asylum Demon

Very easy fight if you have Black Firebombs as a gift. You can just run straight to the door on your left to pickup your items. Then do a plunging-attack on his head. Dodge some attacks and you should be fine.

Bed of Chaos

Search for the cheese tactic on YouTube. This fight is probably the worst fight of the game in my opinion.

Bell Gargoyle

The first real bossfight of the game. Gargoyles are not that tanky but they can deal a huge amount of damage with their halberds. Try to go aggresive against the first Gargoyle. First attack to his tail and when you cut it just go for the kill. Doing a 1v2 against these guys is really challenging. You should be defensive if the first Gargoyle is alive when second one arrives. I recommend attacking only when they are breathing fire in 1v2.

Capra Demon

Capra is not a very hard bossfight when he is alone but oh God the dogs… Just go up the stairway and try to kill those dogs and then go for the Capra. I prefer doing some plunging attacks when I am 1v1 but his attacks are not hard to dodge.

Ceaseless Discharge

I hate this fight. His attacks are complete RNG and his firebreathing attack is impossible to dodge. You can cheese him by going for the place where you picked up items. Then you should run to the fog-wall. He will try to attack you with his hand but his hand will be stuck. Attack him a few times and he should be dead immediately. Top 10 Unsolved Mysteries.

Centipede Demon

Just run for the ring to your right. Fighting against him not in lava is a huge advantage. His attacks are RNG but if you run just under him you should be fine.

Chaos Witch Quelaag

Amazing chest ahead. Quelaag is not that hard but you should respect her attacks. The spider has a AoE attack. Attack the spider’s legs and fallback when spider does the AoE. Quelaag’s Furysword is a very good item if you don’t use her souls.

Crossbreed Priscilla

Fight is very easy if you can follow her footsteps but the real deal is trying to cut her tail. Good luck.

Dark Sun Gwyndolin

Dark Souls’ biggest trap of all time. Her magic attacks are deadly so try to hide in corners. You have to roll to dodge her big magic attack. Attacking her while she is shooting with bow is recommended.

Demon Firesage

Just a re-textured Asylum Demon. Watchout for his AoE attack and you should be fine.

Four Kings

One of my favourite bossfights in the series. Four Kings are a tough fight and you should respect their AoEs. But don’t be too defensive. A new King appears not when you defeat one but in a certain period of time. If you won’t be fast enought to take one out you may have to 1v4 against them which is one of the hardest challenges in Dark Souls. Roll to dodge their attacks and attack when you find an oppurtunity. Don’t try to always block the attacks or your stamina will be drained. If the health bar of one of the Kings go zero attack more, you will see you do damage to the boss.

Gaping Dragon

Try to cut his tail and then go for the head. You can summon Solaire as well. He has not that hardhitting attacks but his health bar is massive. Respect his attacks and AoE.

Gravelord Nito

Nito is one of the coolest and toughest fights in the game in my opinion. His AoE does a huge amount of damage. Skeletons that he keeps reviving are dangerous and their attack may stagger if you are not careful. But in the other hand his attacks are easy to dodge and he can kill the skeletons. My personal preference is going very aggresive against him and back off when he does the AoE. Don’t try to mess with the Giant Skeletons and you should be fine. Don’t forget to join the Gravelord Servant Covenant to get the Gravelord Sword of Nito. One of the best curved greatswords ingame.

Great Grey Wolf Sif

Immient tears ahead. Killing the Sif is a hard job emotionally and physically. Sif is one of the toughest fights of the game. And also one of my favourite fights in the series personally. His attacks are very deadly and he can attack relatively fast. Also his health bar is massive. Try to roll through his attacks and get under him. Don’t use your stamina completely so you can dodge his attacks. Don’t try to block or his attacks will drain your stamina. TLDR: Respect his attacks and when you see the oppurtunity, attack him.

Gwyn, Lord of Cinder

If you can’t parry the Gwyn, git gud and learn to parry him. This fight is the hardest fight of the game if you can’t parry Gwyn. Don’t try to block his attacks, otherwise he will drain your stamina. Roll and be patient. His hits can stagger very easily if you are not careful. If he catches you, he will destroy most of your health. It is very hard to heal against Gwyn, so be very careful and attack wisely. He is one of the most agile and hardhitting bosses of the Dark Souls. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder is probably one of the best final bosses of entire gaming history and one of my favourite bosses of the entire series.

Iron Golem

You should respect his attacks. When you can attack him try to stagger so you can make him fall off. He has massive HP, so be patient and attack wisely.

Moonlight Butterfly

This fight should be a meme. It is so stupid and boring. Just dodge butterfly’s attacks and smash the attack button when she “lets” you to hit her.

Bosses [2]

Ornstein & Smough

These two badass guys made players quit more than any bosses in the gaming history. Although it is a 1v2 fight the way it is designed is so good that it feels very balanced and fair. Killing Dragonslayer Ornstein is a good idea since he is very agile, has lightning attacks and he hits very hard. Use pillars to dodge lightnings and Smough’s run attacks. Don’t cameralock any of them, otherwise they may gangbang you. Second phase of Smough is very easy so just stay cool. TLDR: this fight is one of the hardest bossfights of entire series. But Ornstein and Smough fight is one of the bosses you won’t ever forget.

Pinwheel

Bend your knees and pray for the best of luck. Pinwheel is the hardest boss of the game as the all Dark Souls community agrees. All of the bosses you’ve beaten in your entire life are a cakewalk compared to the challenge of the Pinwheel. This guy is impossible to beat. Just kidding, relax, I’ve finished this game so many times but I still don’t know what the f❤ck Pinwheel even does.

Taurus Demon

This fight is no problem because Taurus can be cheesed in a lot of ways. Just climb up to the tower, kill the archers and do some plunging-attacks. But be careful. He can jump up to the tower if you wait too long.
