Introduction
This guide will help you get further then you usualy could by following some life saving tips. It does not matter what hero you prefer you will find it here, including its pros, weakness, and a well put together build that will lead you to victory.
Make sure that every thing you use from this guide is changed to your game style so you and your team can have the best Dawn of War Retribution Last Stand experience.
Dont forget to
Eldar
To be a good eldar player in the last stand you must know how to be a good support. Eldar is the biggest help for a team and should always be in a team composition. with the Eldar’s wide range of abilities she should be used to slowly ware down the opponent at range and Focus your build on supporting the team but mainly reviving your fallen allies. The group teleport is also a great item to use when getting that poor excuse of the Emporer’s finest out of the mob he just jumped into and when facing the late waves. It really helpa on the last wave(20)When you all get scrambled over the map.
Heres a decent build for the eldar Farseer :
-Pistol of the Warseer
-Witchblade of Isha
-Rune Armor
-Runes of Warp
-Runes of Vigor
-Runes of Warding
-Spirit Stone of Eldritch Might
Make sure you go over this build and make sure it fits your play style and not only will you get to that inposible wave 20 but you surely have fun doing it.
Heres a list of wargear and its uses
Tyranids
The Tyrant’s job in a game of last stand is tanking and AOE damage. Through the early levels a Tyrant can use his toxic miasma to destroy hundreds of enemies at a time( if they are foolish enough to get near you) and can take lots of damage before dying. When using the toxic miasma, the early levels can be a breeze. When using toxic miasma in later waves the tyrant might need to hunker down at one of the spawns spaming the miasma. The main focus for the hive Tyrant would be to base your item build on yourself and not your spawnable creatures such as genestealers or raveners if you are going the multikill Tyrant. These creatures have no micro capabilities, and cannot stray to far from your position but still deal out some huge damage.Just make sure your build coresponds with creatures if you are going to be a beast master. Another good tip for the hive Tyrant would be to stay near your teammates you are probably the slowest character in the game so make sure your not stuck alone under a mass of orks.
Heres some good builds for the Hive Tyrant :
-Behemoth Claw
-Reinforced Chitin (If you like creatures)
-Poison Cysts
-Genestealers
-Evolution
-Explosive Decomposition
– Venom Cannon / High-Toxin Venom Cannon / Devourer Cannon
– Bonded Exoskeleton
– Toxin Sacs
– Ravener Nest
– Tyrant Guard Nest
– Evolution
Chaos
Chaos is a different character and can be build to your liking. The chaos sorcerer can be be a high dps (damage per second) mage or a long range support. You want to get some decent armor when using this character and focus on your abilities. You must have a balance of energy and abilities. You dont want to be stuck with so much energy but nothing to use it with or, have so many powers and have no energy to cast them. Another main focus for the choas sorceror is his abillity to dopplegang. Now this is the fun bit, you can go ahead a doppelgang anything you desire with a low cost of mana but when the time comes that a enemy hero enters the battlefield you must control his mind for your own good. The space marine captain on wave 4 is going to be your new best friend and will get you through most of those early waves including the B!$#$ filled wave 9.
Here is a nice build that will help out the team :
Build 1
-Sword of Spite: Gives Doomblast ability
-Armor of Eternal War
-Daemonic Gift of Retaliation
-Daemonic Gift of Sustenance: Heal and energy regen with each strike
-Icon of Pain/Summoning
-(Last item anything of your choice)
Build 2
– Oracle Stave
– Vestments of Power Undivided
– Daemonic Gift of Sustenance
– Scroll of Vengeance / Scroll of Blood
– Rubric Touched Helm
– Icon of Summoning
Heres a lsit of wargear and its uses
Space Marine
The space marine is the jack of all trades and can complement almost any team composition. Whether you’re a “sit in the back and bombard” kind of marine or one that loves to get “stuck in wit da boys” the arsenal accompanying the space marine can help both of these play styles. A space marine is usually the one running around the map all willy nilly shouting “for the Emperor!” destroying everything in sight. At later levels the space marine really has to use cover or change positions often due to the ever increasing horde of enemies. BUILDINGS ARE NEVER A GOOD THING if you feel the urge to run and set up your plasma cannon in that ruin over there, THINK AGAIN, that building will go down faster than a gaunt being attacked by the Great Unclean one.
Here is a build that will focus on supporting your allies but will give you lots of damage capabilities.
Build 1
-Plasma gun
-Artificer armor
-rite of the tireless crusader
-Rite of fortitude
-Jump pack
-Dreadnaught
Build 2
– Master-Crafted Bolt Pistol
– Lightning Claw
– Armor of Vengeance
– Parable of the Stalwart Brother
– Rite of Fortitude
– Jump Pack
– Larraman’s Blessing
Heres is the list of all wargear and its uses.
Lord General
The Lord General is a very defensive character and is good for holding a section of the map locked down. When building the General consider what wargear you can use that increases your ability to survive (you are quite vunerable to fire from long range units) and the efficiency of your troops. your troops are the bread and butter when it comes to the General’s offensive capabilities. at low levels the guardsmen can get the job done for the earlier waves but the later waves can see the squad wiped out in seconds. when the Catachan squad becomes available their AOE damage and ability to throw granades can really be useful on a tough wave. wargear to be considered when building the General himself is the sniper rifle. this weapon is very useful for targeting prority targets such as a Zoanthrope or a Nob in the later waves. Make sure to HOLD THE LINE! or that commissar from the bleachers watching you might get a few ideas….
The builds for the General Can be either a tanky (as much as a guardsmen can be) melee, unit or a “sit in the back and let the Ogryns do the job” General
Build 1
-Protective Power Sword
-The Black Plate
-Honorifica Imperialis
-Sergeant
-Commissar
-Ogryns
Build 2
-Deadly Sniper Rifle
-Black Plate
-Medallion Crimson
-Sergeant
-Honorifica Imperialis or Commissar
-Ogryns
The MekBoy
The ork is facinating creature in the universe of warhammer. This ork can be the worse thing you have ever used or the best flipping teleporter in the world. One of the main goals of dawn of war Retribution Last Stand is reviving your teammates if you have that down you will surely have a higher chance of reaching those higher waves. The orks special in the case that he can be a great damage dealer but can also be a great support like the eldar Farseer. You’re build shoud focus on damage but make sure you have a balance of heath as well. Make sure to also equip yourself with one of the “teleporta” packs. This greatly improves your chances of escaping death and saving those who are less fortunate then you. Also relate your build and weapon choices to your play style, if your going to teleport in and kill em all your going to need somthing that can get the job done fast. The poket roket, the zapp knife, and some explosives should grant you some crazy multikills.
Here are some builds for the MekBoy :
– Pokkit Rokkit Launcha
– Zaap Knife
– Teleporta Pack
– Juiced Up Tellyporta
– Sturdy Bitz
– Cybork Parts
– Boss Poll / Trophy Rack
Shas’O Commander
The Shas’o Commander is a very versatile character. The battlesuit can arm itself for almost any situation. With a jetpack built in to the suit the Commander is very mobile and able to travel large distances of the map, allowing for quick escapes when the going gets tough, or for dynamic entries when those pesky gun teams are set up. During the earlier waves the Commander can sit back and watch as enemies are obliterated with the suits massive range and high fire rate. Add some accuracy buffs and your all set. The other good things about the Commander is its ability to survive for long periods of time while still being able to bring the heat when it comes to firefights. With his armour and stimulant Injector he can shrug of the worst of engagements. for weapon system choices it all depends on the playstyle that suits you best, if you are a fan of long range fire power twinlinked plasma rifles is a good way to thin the horde of enimies or wreck a wraithlord. If you are the kind of battle suit that likes to go all in and fight close quarters, a flamer and sheild (of you’re preferance) is good to burn the enemies of the Greater Good!!
Heres a build for the Shas’o Commander :
– Command Issue Plasma Rifle / Flamer / Burst Cannon
– Networked Weapon Interface
– XV8 ‘Agile’ Crisis Battlesuit
– Markerlight
– Coolant Injectors
– Stimulant Injector
– Marker Drone controller
The Bloodied Colosseum
The classic map of dawn of war’s greatest hit “last stand” comes back in the expansion Retribution. The map may compare itself as easy to The Anvil Of Khorn but the majority of people have never beaten the unbeatable wave twenty.
This map bring easy to adjust waves and can be countered very affectively with good team compositions and balanced builds (See Above). But this map will always leave you fighting for your life in the ruined arena. It is good to learn the spawns of these waves because sometimes setting your self on top of twelve squads of banshees with toxic miasma is a good way of shuting up those eldar. Your best bet would be to spot the banshee spawn because thats were your copies (wave 16) will spawn. Make sure to set up a stratagy based on your weaknesses and pros. Ex kill the space marine with the revive before going around and killing all of his friends. I also recomend to not camp until later if you want to save time, you should be able to get through the majority of the wave without haveing a problem if you are confident with your skills and your build.
Another important thing to consider when play the last stand is the waves. So here is a list of wave from 1-20

The Anvil of Khorne
The new edition to the last stand in retribution The Anvil Of Khorne. The Anvil is a different map that is much smaller than the original and has a very different wave composition. For new players the Anvil can be very challenging and some experiance with the Last Stand is a good way to help you push through those tough wave compositions.
This map can be a hard one when trying to adjust you’re build to help defeat some of the waves, but the different spawns and the amount of enemies at earlier waves can really be a pain if you have built to counter the later waves. the map itself however has very little to, no cover during the later waves (due to the large use of vehicles) and this can cause some serious problems when a bunch of plasma guns show up. Camping on this map has very liitle advatages to it, with little cover and large spawns there it is almost impossible to stop moving.
Another very important thing to consider is the waves. they are very different from the colosseum and should not be underestimated.

wave 2 : Howling banshees, Wraith Guards
wave 3 : Assult marines, Devastator marines
wave 4 : Lictors, Raveners, Hormaguants
