Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut Guide

Deadly Premonition Fixes collection for Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut

Deadly Premonition Fixes collection

Overview

The PC port of Deadly Premonition usually requires a fair amount of work be put into it before you can become satisfied with the game itself. I knew this prior to even purchasing this game and still went ahead to buy it anyway, consulting the PCGamingWiki site afterwards for a relatively long period of time. There’s a ton of issues with this game and a ton of fixes to match, and while I was collecting all of this I had essentially created a little fix package. Everything downloaded, no compressed files and everything neatly laid out. Not long afterwards I decided I would make a .zip file of this package (81.6 MB in size) and upload it so other people wouldn’t have to waste time hunting for and downloading all the individual files. And that’s what ultimately lead to this guide being created in the first place. For those who think the file contained in this guide may be a virus:https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/d9ba8df16027007487e0eca7362377f515419065020ff48f359a27f03d8aa978/analysis/1452142908/* Credit goes to PCGamingWiki ( http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deadly_Premonition:_The_Director’s_Cut ) and the game’s Steam hub for most of the info. in this community guide!!Credit also goes to Steam user Zhnigo ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197993391386/ ) for offering some suggestions, corrections and a pre-edited DP.exe file as well as Steam user Smile ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197980706254 ) and their Steam guide ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=615264656 ) for the hex-edit method provided that allows a .exe file to automatically skip the intros or logos in this game when in use.

What this package contains

The 81.6mb .zip file, which you can find a download link for directly below, contains the following:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/m6xy6b27psh0l5o/Deadly%20Premonition%20Fixes%20collection.zip?dl=1

a save file for chapter 3 should you need it (a link for it was found on the PCGamingWiki site)
a save file for chapter 9 should you need it (a link for it was found on the PCGamingWiki site)
an “ESSENTIAL FIXES” folder which will be covered in more depth below
a “Skipping intros-logs” folder which contains a pre-edited DP.exe file that automatically skips intros or logs at the beginning of the game when used
an “Issues and fixes” document which has a list of issues and fixes compiled from the PCGamingWiki site and the game’s Steam hub (some of this information I didn’t change much or at all, as it was written well enough to begin with)
a “LAA patch (4 GB).exe” file which, should you need it, will make the game Large Address Aware (it can be found on www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php )
a “PhysX 9.15.0428.exe” file which, should you need it, will install the latest version of PhysX (at the time of this writing)

The previously mentioned “ESSENTIAL FIXES” folder has the following inside:
a “1. DPfix” folder (v 0.9.5) which will give you access to higher resolutions and more graphical options for this game
a “2. Color correction fix (SweetFX)” folder which will allow you to tweak the colours so they resemble the Xbox 360 version of the game (this version of SweetFX came from: [link] )
an “3. OPTIONAL SweetFX preset” folder which has a single document with values for SweetFX that more closely resemble the Xbox 360 version of the game (this preset came from: [link] )
a “4. Refined textures” folder which collects 5 better looking textures and a different font: a HD hud and icons pack, unused pause screen textures, York’s jacket without a crease fold, a cleaner main menu screen, an optional folder for players who use a Playstation controller (it replaces the default Xbox 360 buttons in-game with Playstation buttons) and a folder with an optional font texture which is easier to read and considerate for those who have Dyslexia (all 6 of these textures were recommended and had links to them on the PCGamingWiki site)
an “5. Extra outfits for Emily” folder which collects 6 outfits that could previously not be worn and were shown throughout the game an additional “Raincoat Killer Emily” outfit (both of these had links to them on the PCGamingWiki site and it seemed like they were worth applying to this game). NOTE: some of these selectable outfits are spoiler-ish so it may be better to apply this after you have finished the game!!
an “Installation process” document which tells you how to apply the above 5 fixes to the game (I used PCGamingWiki as a base for most of this information)
