Overview
Just some information about playing Tales of Berseria with keyboard and mouse.
Default keyboard mapping information
Note:
Controller = Keyboard
- L2 = Mystic Arte = Keyboard: C
- R2 = Break soul = Keyboard: R
Special attacks which you can cast under certain requirements:
- 3 different mystic artes for each character
- Dual mystic artes for two characters pair up
Remember to switch your windows’ language input method to “English” to avoid game crashing if you exprienced this.
The Arte buttons
On game controller settings, there are 4 arte buttons for the 4 directions listed in game.
The mouse only default-mapping to 2 arte buttons. (The right and down arte keys.)
If you want complete control on all 4 arte buttons, you will have to either:
- Use the arrow keys on the right side of keyboard.
- Shift + left / right mouse clicks for the up and left arte keys.
- Remap those keys in settings.
It’s not required to complete the game, left/right mouse clicks are fine for the game. It just that you will have to give up the flexibility on casting more attacks through top/left arte chains.
But for the complex mechanics such as mystic arte chaining, you will have to use your keyboard.
Mystic Arte Chaining
To do mystic arte chaining, you will need to make sure each characters have the requirements to cast mystic arte. (ie. 3 Souls & 3 BG counters)
- Make a few hits, press and hold “Break soul” (Keyboard: R).
- Press and hold “Mystic arte” (Keyboard: C).
- While the mystic arte animation playing, press “switch blast” to pick your next character while still holding both “Break soul” and “Mystic arte” buttons.
To traverse all characters for chaining, you can “switch blast” to top row, bottom row, right, right, right, or whichever order you like.
About this guide
These are bascially helper notes for myself since I was completely confused with the battle controls using keyboard and mouse. Hopefully these could help keyboard/mouse players who are new to the game.
