WHAT’S INCLUDED?

ShotgunnerColors.Wad – Alters the palette used by the Shotgun Guys to stand out more from the standard Zombiemen.
Doom2Weapons.wad – Replaces the weapon sprites with their Doom 2 equivalents.
Doom2SFXswap.wad – Replaces the sound effects with their Doom 2 equivalents.
Doom2Music.wad – Replaces songs with ones from Doom 2.
Uncensor.wad – Restores the red crosses on Health and Berserk pickups. This has already been done, but I figured I’d include it anyway because it’s so easy.

HOW TO LOAD WAD FILES

Assuming you don’t already have a WAD loader:

  1. Drop the files in your install directory
  2. Right click on Doom 64 from your steam library and click “Properties”
  3. Click Launch Options
  4. type in -file followed by any of the files you want to load in quotes
    (Example: -file “ShotgunnerColors.wad” “Uncensor.wad” )

You can also use Doom Launcher[www.realm667.com] or ZDL[zdoom.org] but it’ll require extra configuration.

DISCLAIMER: Loading mods disables achievements if that’s a thing you care about.

FAQ

WHY DO THE WEAPON ANIMATIONS LOOK SO WEIRD?
Doom 64 doesn’t have as many animation frames as Doom 1/2 so I had to improvise. I’d be down to make a version with animations more like 64’s if there’s a demand.

WHY DO THE SHOTGUNNER’S BOOTS LOOK WEIRD?
SLADE’s palette editor is a bit clunky and it’s hard to preview what the sprites will look like. I didn’t think it’s too big a deal.

WHY IS THE MUSIC PACK SO BIG, ISN’T IT JUST MIDI?
While Doom 64 does support MIDI playback, it’s based on the N64 version’s soundfont. If you loaded the original MIDI files they would sound terrible, so these are OGG recordings.

WHY ISN’T THE MENU MUSIC DIFFERENT?
I tried and it just… didn’t work? It might be a header thing. To replace the songs, I had to edit the MAPINFO lump.

WHY DOESN’T THE CUSTOM MUSIC WORK WITH OTHER LEVEL/MUSIC MODS?
Like mentioned above, this overrides the MAPINFO for each level.
