Dino-Hopping & How to Execute It

Overview

Give yourself the edge by learning how to dino-hop!

What is dino-hopping?

Dino-hopping is a strange mechanic that allows a player to bounce when attempting to land on an enemy. This mechanic allows the player to traverse by bouncing atop hordes of medium-sized dinos without recieving any damage. This is particularly useful for moving between two platforms on Arid or Outback without expending valuable blinks or taking damage.

How to line up a dino-hop.

  • Place your crosshair on the raptor you wish to hop onto.
  • Hold the jump button while walking towards it.
  • Do some aerial adjustments with the movement keys.

You should get (after some practice) about 90% of attempted dino-hops with 1 or 2 bounces.

This method is simplest way to dino-hop, so mess around with it!

How to improve your dino-hop.

There are some things wrong with the first method:

  • It only applies to 1 of 10 enemy types.
  • It only works with super jumps.
  • It requires you to aim at the raptor, removing it from any effective use in combat.

So, let’s fix it with a few rules and exceptions:

  • Drop on top of any dino. in any way to initiate a dino-hop.
  • Your crosshair only needs to be vertically aligned with the dino while moving forward.
  • Aerial re-adjustments don’t require the crosshair to be aimed at the dino.

Most of this is just self-researched through the game itself, so I would gladly take any input from the community. In fact, I encourage it. Try messing with it yourself and tell me your results in the comments!
