Dishonored Builds – Play Another Way

Overview

Do you love dishonored and have played it countless times? You are in the mood for another playtrough but fear that it will be similar to the last six? Here’s a guide to mix up your way of play and have fun while doing it!

Introduction

You, are like me and have played Dishonored countless times over hundreds of hours? Or maybe you just finished the game and want to mix it up for the next playtrough?
This is a guide and place to share different Dishonored builds, playtrough ideas to bring some variation to good old thieving, assasinating and blinking.
After countless times playing the game from start to finish I noticed that I tended to go for the same routes every time, keeping myself from exploring all the facets of Dishonored’s gameworld and ways to tackle it’s many challenges.
So, I came up with different builds. These builds limit you in some ways to force you to confront challenges in certain ways. Or better said, not giving you the opportunity to always choose the easy way out. I tend to play The Eagle, keeping myself from exploring all the detailed back allies and hidden pathways on the ground. I could probably also count on one hand how many times I used one of the dozen rat tunnels.
To counter my typical line of thought and consequential action, giving myself a whole new Dishonored experience in the process, I came up with The Rat Master.

I hope you’ll get something out of these builds, too. And I’m happy about every other build shared!

“Should we gather for whiskey and cigars tonight?”

“How about a good gin this time?”

The Rat Master

(magic – stealth/combat – firearms)

Fascinated by rodents and vermin of every kind, The Rat Master calls them out of the dark. Using them either as invisible spies or swarming force of death. The Rat Master is intrigued by the occult and ways of the Outsider. He searches for all his shrines and artifacts. Especially interested in Bonecharms giving him more control over any little rodent. He prefers the underground and alleys where his little friends reside. Through his new found power he never has to feel alone, conjuring rats from thin air when needed.

The Rat Spy [no-lethal]
The spy variation uses Possesion to be one with his little friends, using their agility and exclusive ways of traversing Dunwall to tackle it’s challenges. When he can’t find any rats near by he conjures them with Devouring Swarm. He prefers being on the ground, hunching beside his animal friends. When there seems no other way he also uses Possesion to control humans or other animals for a short amount of time. He doesn’t fight at all, preferring to flee when confronted. Mostly in the form of a little rodent.

The Rat King [lethal]
As king of the rats he can summon his little soldiers at every opportunity. Seeming like he’s riding on a barrage of little vermin he storms every room with control and disgusting violence. After using Devouring Swarm he shoots all those that are either eaten alive or could barely flee from the
plague carrier onslaught with his pistol. Blood Thirsty and Vitality give him even more of an edge in open combat.

The Eagle

(magic – stealth – firearms)

Storming down from a leveled position or patiently watching his prey from the sky, The Eagle is a precise and calculated hunter. His main abilities are Blink and Agility, always ensuring a advantageous position. To become even more deadly and quick he needs all the runes and artifacts he can find. Eventually, he even Bend(s) Time to maximize his drop attacks. Always choosing the highest attainable point in any area, he only fears getting to close to the sun.

The Crow [non-lethal]
Waiting patiently, The Crow rarely acts out in violence. Using vantagepoints for unseen traversal, mostly. When faced with impossible to circumvent challenges, sedating bolts are used to pick out every threat from a far.

The Falcon [lethal]
The Falcon uses a simple loop for his game. Searching for a leveled position and dropping onto unsuspecting prey. If more than one potential victim is targeted by The Falcon he uses deadly bolts before making his extreme drop.

The Mastermind

(gadgets – stealth – firearms)

The Mastermind is a man of the physical world. Not only interested in ranged weapons but also many tools of destruction. He uses springrazors, grenades, pistols and more technical shenanigans. He doesn’t posses the powers of one marked by the outsiders. But he’s very smart. And very greedy. For his tactics he needs a lot of coin and all the blueprints he can find.

The Artist [lethal]
Setting up traps and seeing his masterwork come to fruition is what makes him happy. Spring Razors, diversions and bolts are the name of the game. Using art from others such as walls of light is also one of the joyous things in his short crusade.
