Overview
I love the game. But the guides the game starts you out with are kinda bad. So in this I’ve taken most (12/15) and rewrote the guide’s for you and ways to win with them, Enjoy!
Captain Hook!
Captain Hook: Difficulty: 3
Overview:
Captain hook is one of the few that start with a locked location. “Hangman’s Tree” starts locked. Past that it’s up to you to unlock it with “Never Land Map”. The difficult part comes in that there is only one in the deck and costs 4 power. Using “Give Them a Scare” can help you find it since it will allow you to either check the top two cards of your deck, Or mill them to the bottom.
Playing and winning:
Captain Hook must play, and defeat “Peter Pan” at the “Jolly Roger” to win the game.
Now “Peter Pan” can be played via a fate action by another player. But if other players know this, they may not fate you in an attempt to fwort your progress in winning. However you have cards that allow you to play heroes from your deck, Such as: “Obsession” and “worthy opponent”. However “Obsession” is a condition, as such you can only play it when another player defeats a hero with a strength of 4 or more. Now “Worthy Opponent” will allow you mill out any effects, or items in your fate deck to either find and vanquish heroes, or find “Peter Pan”
Items such as “Ingenious Device” can allow you to win the game without even unlocking “Hangman’s Tree”. Since it allows any location a Move Hero action.
But it will be more difficult since your only move hero action is in the “Hangman’s Tree”. So it’s better to just unlock it when you can with “Never Land Map”
Once “Peter Pan” is played to your realm. Focus moving him and your allies to “Jolly Roger” and getting a handfull of “Boarding Party” To use as many allies as possible. When “Peter Pan” is at “Jolly Roger” Use a vanquish and win the game.
Maleficent~
MALEFICENT: Difficulty: 2
Overview:
Maleficent is one of the few villains that is simple in concept, But if the other players know and realize you’re close to winning. You’re pretty much boned. Her objective is to start the game with a “Curse” at each location. Easier said than done some times. Now she does have 3 different curses. But 8 curse cards in total. And with four locations this can be simplified.
Playing and Winning:
Using “Tyranny” Any time you can is the way to go. It will allow you to mill out your deck and more or less search for the curses.
*Always keep any curses you get your hands on.*
Curses:
Green fire is a sucky one. However you have 3 of it in your deck. If you can play both “Dreamless Sleep” and “Forest of Thorns” to your other locations, You won’t have to deal with this one. However. Once and if you do play “Green Fire” to a location. Make sure you can pretty much play without ever having to go back to that location. Or you can play it to the location you’re at, and just use “Vanish”
Dreamless Sleep is another one that’s gonna suck if you’re playing the vanquish game and not rushing the win. But if you do play this curse, Just make sure you don’t *play* and allies to that location. The loop hole here is the card mentions “played” and not “moved”. So you can 100% *Legally* move allies to that location.
Forest of thorns… Just hope you don’t get fated. And try to play all 3 if you can. It’s just the best one of the three.
Jafar!
Jafar: Difficulty: 2
Overview:
This is a doozy. This villain is a hard one for first timers. He starts with “Cave of Wonders” unlocked. Which he *MUST* do to win the game. I say must but.. It makes it much much easier if you just unlock it. “Scarab Pendant” will let you do this, but once again, You only have one in your deck to find and use.
Playing and winning:
Well, to win you have to have “Genie” under your control. “Hypnotize” will let this happen. But you only have two. So i’d suggest only using them on the “Genie” and as the last thing on your check list.
The other half of your objective is that you need to have the “Magic Lamp” at “Sultan’s Palace” That can be done if you just keep location swapping and move it over every turn. To win you must **START** your turn. So keep that in mind before you get all smug once your check list is finished.
Queen of Hearts~<3
Queen of Hearts: Difficulty: 2
Overview:
The queen is one of the few that has a massive set up. However her’s isn’t that hard since you have more than enough “Card Guards” to turn into wickets. Which is your set up. Have a wicket at each location.
Playing and Winning:
Honestly having played this Villain a good few times, You can play passive and just not defeat heroes. But it makes things a little difficult. If you choose this route, what i did was just location flop between “Hedge Maze” and “Courtyard” for the 2-3 power every turn and the discard so i could mill my deck and get “Take the Shot”. However if a hero gets played to “Courtyard”, Just start going to “Tulgey Wood” for the discard, You won’t get power but it’s a small price to pay since “Take the Shot” is only 4 power cost. But that’s just when you’re trying to get “Take the Shot” To play the queen and win. One must put down every card guard you can every turn. And convert only 1 to wickets at each location just so your set up is done. Then take your shot when you can. I would suggest however, Waiting until you reshuffle if your deck is low since it is easy to miss and lose your game.
Easy Mode (Prince John)$
Playing and winning:
Just location flop from “The Jail” and ANY other location to collect power and win. All you have to do is start your turn with 20. He’s not that difficult. And play “greed” any chance you get.
Ursula
Overview: Another locked location, Another time you don’t have to unlock it. “The Palace”. Now ursula is weird in that.. She won’t vanquish a hero, But that she’ll use “Binding contract” and move them to a location to defeat them… to win the game you have to have “The Trident” and “the Crown” at “Ursula’s Lair”
Playing and Winning:
Another time you may have to mill your deck out to get the cards you need. But the cards you’re only going to need are: “Crown”, “Trident”, “Binding Contract” and “Whirlpool”
So Ursula only has 2 allies. Flotsam and Jetsam both are a drop 2 for 4 and have the same ability. Activate to move a hear from their location to an adjacent unlocked location.
You don’t have to play them, However they may just help you if you can’t get a hold of “Whirlpool” which allows you to move heroes to their location and defeat them based on the contract you put on them. “Change form” is the card you’re looking for if you want to use “the palace” however. The lock will only move to and from “Ursula’s Lair” and “The Palace” which can and will make things difficult. So in my opinion it’s just better to leave “the Palace” locked and discard “Change form” when you get it.
Dr. Facilier
Overview: this.. This one is weird. He brings in a new pile called “Fortune Pile” which is another thing added to him and part of his goal. He has to control an item called “Talisman” and pull Rule New Orleans from his “Fortune Pile”
Playing and Winning:
Well.. This is a villain that you more or less have to rely on other players using a fate action on you since you need things in your “Fortune Pile”
However you can win on turn 3 if you’re lucky enough to pull “Talisman”, “Rule New Orleans” and “The Cards Will Tell” on your first turn.
But i’m not going into that. The goal here is for me to tell you how to play them if you’re unlucky. So here it is.
When you get “Rule New Orleans” Play it. It can sit in your pile until you need it or play “The Cards Will Tell”. But “Talisman” is the one that’s gonna make you wanna hurt people. Since when it’s played you’re at mercy of everyone at the table. Since when a hero with strength of 3 or more is played, Talisman is then attached to that hero until it’s defeated.
If it’s attached, but “Rule New Orleans” is in your “Fortune Pile” and you have “The Cards Will Tell” in your hand, Just defeat that hero, and play “The Cards Will Tell” and hope to win before “Talisman” is taken away again.
Evil Queen~
Overview: Objective is to defeat snow white. Not that hard from a paper view, However Snow White can only be played to Dwarfs’ Cottage, So this must be unlocked before you can defeat her. How to unlock Dwarfs’ Cottage is to play four *Different* Ingredients.
Playing and Winning: Now the queen has only 4 ingredients, But has two copies of each. So 8 of your 30 villain cards will help you win the game. The queen has a new currency, Along with power, SHe has poison counters. These can be used for any number of things depending on your cards. Take a bite, Lets you pay poison equal to the hero’s power to defeat them if the queen is at their location (Keep this in mind for snow white, As there is no restriction on how to defeat her).
In the event you can’t find your ingredients, Let’s just say they’re all near or at the bottom of the deck.
only 2 cards will help. Both being Magic Tomes. Which can help you mill your deck or find the ingredient you need. But since this is a item, All you need to do is use an activate action to use it
Now as i said, Take a bite is a helpful card, However you only have 5. And *one* ally in your deck. So be careful and selective with which heroes you do defeat using “Take a Bite” and consider using “I’ll fix Ya” and just use one action that’s covered by a hero.
Hades
Difficulty: 5.
Overview: Hades. Hades.. A god and it takes one to play this villain. One of my favorites from our selection because he’s not baby easy like Queen of hearts.
What makes him difficult is that his goal is to get three of his five titans to mount Olympus, But they all must be played to the underworld. Which is his left most location.
Playing and Winning: So your first plan would be getting either 3 or all 5 titans down. Now you can either take the approach of playing three and moving them asap. That’s a good plan besides your fate deck is made to hurt you as MUCH as possible. It’s honestly pure evil compared to other fate decks. Hera, Zeus, Hercules, and Hermes are going to hurt you a ton since they can trap your taitains and keep you from moving them. And Lightning bolt only hurts even more since if all 5 of your titans are at the underworld, They’re all trapped. And you only have 3 cards to untrap them. Along with only 3 cards to move them. This is why i give this Villian a 5 since you have to really think about your next move and be 4 turns ahead. Now if a hero is played to your realm, Mortality potion is your best friend, But you only have 3, So if you can deal with then being there, Just let them sit and ignore them. I would only use them on Hercules, and Zeus since they both trap and keep titans from moving. Placing titans isn’t that hard. They either cost 2 or 3 power, But if you wanna play them for free, Wait for the time to use Ruthless and play them for free that way you can use power to planet align and get ready to rumble. I’ve had many games where I stack up to 30 power just trying to mill out so i can keep moving my taitains, But early game it’s not a bad idea to just play ruthless and get them out for free since it will cost 5 to move a titan 2 spaces over.
If a hero is placed in a spot you need, If you can wait a few turns to find it if you don’t have it, Just use Rage when you can and move that hero over so you don’t have to waste a mortality potion.
Chariot.. Your best damn friend in your deck. This will let you move to another location and perform one extra action (that isn’t a fate) and sometimes, you kinda just need that extra card play or extra power before you pass your turn.
Eye of the fates can help if you need to mill out your deck, or if you’re unlucky and can’t find a titan you need.
I Rule, and Achilles’ Heal I never really had a use for, I’ve played I Rule once and only gained like 4 power, and that was when I already had over 25. If you can find a use for them and they help you win, More power to you, But i’ve never had too much use for them.
If you play this Villian, you’re a trooper, And good luck my friend.
Ratigan
WARNING: Difficulty can and will spike with less players, A 1v1 with this villain and you may as well just let them play Hades because then it’s a fair fight. PLay with 4 or more so the fate coin is active to protect you from Basil early on.
Overview: now when i say someone is weird.. This whole damn box has weird villains and goals. To start I’ve picked Ratigan just because well, He’s interesting to say the least. He’s a villain with 2 objectives, Depending on events of the game he can change his objectives.
Playing and winning: I’m going to break this down into about 4-5 parts
Ratigan, The Superior Mind: This is the one you will start with.
Start your turn with the robot queen at Buckingham Palace, This would be easy but it must be played to The Secret Lair. However if this card is discarded it will flip your card and your objective, changing the game. But once she’s played, You can use Ruffians to help you move The Robot Queen since they allow you to perform an action at another location that Ratigan isn’t at.
Marvelous Trap is a very powerful card but you only have 2, and it takes time to set up once activated. Use only on heros that aren’t worth the time, Or in some cases you can use it to lock a location for heros to be played which can help you when you’re in a tough spot.
Royal Robes, And Greatest Criminal Mind can help you gain power for the Robot Queen since she does cost a *Whooping* 15 power.
Bell and Felicia. Felicia is a drop 3 for 6, Which is really good. But her play cost is not just 3. It’s an ally or pay 2 more to play her. Making her a 6 for 6, Which again isn’t bad, But i would only play her once your objective is flipped.
The Rat:
Defeat Basil. He’s a 6 strength. Felicia or Marvelous Trap will be your best friends here. This is pretty easy.
Yzma
Overview: One fate deck? Nah. You get 4 with 4 cards in each. In which you have to find Kuzco and defeat him, But you have to use Kronk
Playing and Winning:
Kronk is your best ally, But it would be better if you only play him along side a dagger to go ahead and defeat Kuzko.
What can make this villain difficult, Because at some point or another you just need Kuzko to be played. Which can be done with After Them.
Beauty Sleep can help if you’re a little behind or if you just have a turn to waste.
I know this is a guide rewrite, But refer to the guide for Yzma since her guide isn’t as bad as the others.
Scar
Overview:
Scar can be funny to play, But he’s not gonna be easy at all.
Start your turn with 15 strength in your succession pile
Playing and Winning:
Best way to play this villain, Honestly just piss everyone at your table off and and fate every damn turn you have to pull out heros and Mufasa. Because you can’t utilize your Succession pile until Mufasa is there. HOWEVER if you are targeted with a fate, Make sure to play injustice.
