Overview
Easy step-by-step guide on how to change the viewmodel field of view in DOOM (2016).
Introduction
Like most modern FPS games, DOOM (2016) suffers from an often neglected problem – the amount of space that the weapons models take off the screen and being too close to the screen. It’s even worse on ultrawide monitors or multi-monitor setup.
This can be optimised easily and all you need is:
- Flawless Widescreen – Download[www.flawlesswidescreen.org]
- Steam console
However, Flawless Widescreen doesn’t work with the latest DOOM version and the only way to make it work again is to downgrade and use an older version.
NOTE: WORKS ONLY FOR SINGLEPLAYER!
UPDATE 12.02.2020: VALVE HAS PATCHED DOWNGRADING IN THE LATEST STEAM CLIENT!
This basically means that after all these years, Valve has removed downgrading.
Create a shortcut of Steam.exe, right-click on the shortcut, click Properties and add “-console” (without the quotation marks) after Steam.exe target address. Restart Steam and you should see “Console” tab after your username on the steam client.
Or you can simply write steam://open/console in the browser search bar.
App ID is 379720,
Depot ID is 379721
Manifest ID for the files I used is 907965064786099828
Copy and paste the command “download_depot 379720 379721 907965064786099828” (without the quotation marks) into the Steam console and press enter.
This will download the files of the older version.
