Description
Helping Hand
Complete a sub story.
Do-Gooder
Complete 10 sub stories.

There are waaaay more than 10 sub stories. The first saga alone features 10 sub stories. Without having counted them, I’d say there are ~60ish sub stories.
While a good ~2/3 of those are only available for a highly limited timeframe sometime within the story and therefore missable, more than 10 sub stories are permanently available.
Which is why I won’t go further into them as the game did itself:

Progressing by themself

Tell Me More
Unlock an entry in the Z Encyclopedia.
Thirsty for Knowledge
Unlock 200 entries in the Z Encyclopedia.
Fountain of Knowledge
Unlock 400 entries in the Z Encyclopedia.

Ignore these 3. Seriously. It’s completely impossible to finish the story, without unlocking this on the way. There’s really no need to push this.
The Z Encyclopedia consists of 984 entries, out of which you only need 400.
I’ll repeat: Ignore these 3.

Description
Medal Madness
Collect 10 D Medals.
Heavy Medal
Collect 100 D Medals.

You’ll actually need a lot more than 100 Medals later on. But getting them is a rather easy task.
For starters, there are already 360 of them spread over the world. You can just pick them up without any further conditions.
But there are also several hundred more medals, rewarded in masses for:

  • Completing sub-stories
  • Gathering entries in the Z Encyclopedia
  • Completing Turtle School training challenges

So, if you ever run low, just open your encyclopedia and check back with Muten Roshi at the Kame House.

But if you really feel like collecting them, check out this guide:

Description
The Voice in My Head
Receive a telepathic message from King Kai.
Who Needs a Phone?
Receive 20 telepathic messages from King Kai.

King Kai will start messaging you after you’ve completed the Saiyan Saga / during the first “Intermission”.
He will randomly comment your actions in the open world. This includes farming fruits, farming minerals, breaking mountains (by bursting through them) or fishing.

You may ignore this achievement until you’ve finished everything else. There’s a good chance this will unlock by itself. If it didn’t, go to the following location and keep Ki blasting the 6 minerals.
The minerals will respawn upon re-loading the save file. So stay inside the cave, until this achievement pops up.

Side activities

Note, that all of the achievements in this section won’t be available for a certain period of time during the 4th and last saga. This will be told to you by the following message, but I felt like reminding you here, anyway.

Achievement
Description
Turtle School Trainee
Complete a Turtle School training challenge and report to Master Roshi.
Turtle School Master
Complete 20 Turtle School training challenges and report to Master Roshi.
Turtle School Legend
Complete 50 Turtle School training challenges and report to Master Roshi.

You will unlock the Turtle School really early on. The game will display the message below, once you do.
You can find a list of all currently available challenges by opening your main menu -> Story -> “Turtle School Training Manuel” Tab.
The challenges aren’t exactly something you can just do. They will progress, while you play the game.
You may check back with Master Roshi once in a while, but this is pretty much guaranteed to unlock, if you just talk to him, after you’ve finished the story.

Note, that only talking to him unlocks new challenges. But the game tracks all progress for all challenges, even if you haven’t unlocked them, yet. Which means, you might need to talk to him a dozen times in a row, constantly insta-completing challenges, which he just gave you.

There are way more than 50 challenges.

Wish Maker
Summon Shenron from the Dragon Ball menu to make a wish.
Getting Greedy
Summon Shenron 5 times from the Dragon Ball menu to make a wish.
Shenron’s Favorite
Summon Shenron 10 times from the Dragon Ball menu to make a wish.

The dragon balls will become available, after you’ve finished the 2nd saga of the game – “Evil Emperor Frieza”.
Once you do, the game will prompt the following tutorial.

Personally, I’d recommend to wait with this. Because after you’ve finished the story, you can wish for 3 things per summon, while you only have 1 wish at the beginning.

Description
There’s Nothing Like a Home-Cooked Meal!
Make a full-course meal.
Only the Finest
Make 5 full-course meals.

5 different full-course meals!

Making the first full-course meal is actually a part of the story and is therefore impossible to miss.
Getting the second achievement to unlock is a little bit more tricky, because you actually need to make 5 different full-course meals.

You won’t be able to find a 5th recipe, until the second Intermission. Or in other words, you need to finish the Frieza-Saga, before you can go for this. Though, it will be much easier, if you do this later on.
If you are missing ingredients or dishes to cook a full-course meal, you might gather the dragon balls, wish for “rare items” and just get the dishes gifted – if you’re a lil’ bit lucky.

People in the open world will tell you from afar, if they have a recipe for you.
Just visit the big cities, and you’ll see several of these message. Several of them will only be available later in the story, though.

Description
Let the Building Begin!
Build a machine part.
Get out of My Head and Turn into My Car
Build a hovercar.
Robot Rider
Build a Bipedal Robo Walker.

These achievement will become available during the Cell-Saga, Episode 2.
You’ll know, once the game shows the following message.
Just talk to Bulma and, well, craft the pieces. If you’re missing mechanic parts, just buy them at the shop right outside of the Capsule Corporation.

Description
Not Worth My Time
Get an instant victory on an enemy.
Can’t Touch This
Get 50 instant victories on enemies.

How do you get an instant victory? By not even entering the fight… Yes.
You need to find yourself an opponent in the open world. Enter Ki vision and check, if the opponent’s level is at least 5 lever lower than yours. Only the character you’re controlling matters.
If that’s the case, just enter high speed flight and burst right through your enemy.

There are 2 good spots to farm this. The first, and more legit, way is to just fly around the south-eastern islands (or the Kame House, if that’s more familiar). You’ll find a lot of enemies there, which you can easily target while flying at high speed.
The second, and faster, way is to go to the cave illustrated below. Because there’s an enemy right in front of the cave, which always respawns, as soon as you enter the cave. Crash into said enemy, fly backwards for a second or two, without changing your camera angle, and crash into the enemy again.

Description
Push It to the Limit
Complete 10 challenges at a Training Grounds location with any character.

While you can choose any character you want, you have to complete all 10 challenges with just that one character.
Technically, this becomes available during Cell-Saga episode 8. But you’d have to level Goku to 50, to unlock it there – which would take an unreasonably high amount of time to do. Second chance would be during the 3rd Intermission, after you’ve finished off Cell. This time with Piccolo – though you’d have to level him to 60, here… which would kill even more of your valuable time…
That being said, wait until Buu-Saga episode 2, where you can easily unlock this achievement with Goku.

Description
Newfound Power
Acquire a Super Attack or Mastery in the Super Attack Skill Tree.
Highly Skilled
Acquire 50 Super Attacks or Masteries in the Super Attack Skill Tree.
A Super Warrior Is Born
Acquire 100 Super Attacks or Masteries in the Super Attack Skill Tree.

Well, this one is easy. You just need to acquire 100 of the super attack “bubbles”.
You neither need to do this on just one character, nor do you need 100 different skills – getting the super cheap blue support skills for all characters actually counts.
As with all the other achievements with number-bound unlocking conditions, you’re going to have waaay more super attacks aquired by the time you’ve finished the story.

Hidden Achievements

Achievement
Description
Flashy Finish
Win a battle with a Super Finish.

You need to:

  • Play as either Goku or Gohan
  • Perform a transformation (Kaioken, Perfect Form, Super Saiyan 1/2/3)
  • Go into Surge
  • And land the victory assuring blow with a Kame-Hame-Ha
    • most forms are valid, except Guided

Picture
Achievement
Description
Excavator
Destroy a boulder blocking a cave.
Demolition Artist
Destroy 10 boulders blocking caves.

In order to unlock the second of these two, you need a character on level 35. Once you’ve leveled up one of your Z warriors to that level, visit the following locations:

(*Recently, it’s been reported more than once in the comments below, that this achievement can potentially bug out and that you might need to destroy 11 boulders. If so, you’ll need a far higher character level to actually unlock this. Since I don’t feel like re-installing the game to find the next lowest level 11th boulder, I won’t edit or add another screenshot. Just check the mineral spots on all maps and you’ll easily find several more boulders.)

Picture
Achievement
Description
Tough Enough
Complete a Level 10 challenge in the Training Room.

You’ll unlock the Training Room during the story, but you won’t be able to unlock this achievement until after finishing the story.
Before you can go for the challenge, you first need to unlock it. To do so, you need a bunch of materials. For a lot of them, just go to the shop just outside of the Capsule Corporation. Beyond that, you need to get:

  • 150 D Medals
  • 1 Sturdy Bold Z, 1 Gear Bearing Z, 1 Steel Nut Z
  • 2 Refined Iron, 2 Refined Silver
  • 4 Refined Gold

The iron and silver can be gathered at basically every mineral spot.
For the Z variants of the machinal parts, visit the place indicated below. Go there and destroy both machines. If you don’t get what you need, just save and reload. The broken machines will respawn.
For the Refined Gold, visit the cave just south of that location.

Once you’ve collected all materials, you need to beat 3 lvl 95 opponents, with a single character.
Personally, I did it with Gohan on lvl 85 by spamming the “Super Dragon Flight” move. A lower level, alongside a few senzu beans, would also be sufficient to do this without too much problems.

Description
A Dark Omen
Defeat your first Villainous party.
Evil All Around
Defeat 20 Villainous parties.
Purging the Plague
Defeat 30 Villainous parties.
Down with the Demon Realm!
Win the battle against Mira.

Well, if it isn’t already obvious by the fact, that I grouped these achievements together:
You need to defeat all villainous enemies, in order to unlock Mira.
Since their spawns are directly tied to certain points in the story, you won’t be able to unlock the latter 2 of the achievements above, until after you’ve finished the story.

Mira is the hidden final boss of this game, with a level of 100.
I defeated him with Gohan lvl 87 and Goku+Vegeta on lvl 80 as teammates.
I did the following:

  • Community Boards:
    • Z Warrior: lvl 9
    • Training: lvl 8
    • Adventure: lvl 7
  • 4 Full-Course Meals from Chi-Chi
  • Equipped a handful of Senzu Beans
  • Spammed “Super Dragon Flight” as Gohan
  • Commanded Goku to permanently use “Dragon Fist”, and Vegeta to use “Infinity Breaker”
  • –> With all of that, I had no problem, whatsoever. So even if your level is lower than what I used, you should still be fine.
