Overview
This guide will help you maximize your efficiency and away time in the game as well as with earning a stable income.
Introduction
There are many types of gadgets in slime rancher, but by far one of the most useful is the drone. They can perform a variety of tasks, from gathering food to selling plorts, and make managing your farm a lot easier. In this guide, I will be telling you how to obtain, use, and profit from your drones.
Building Drones
As soon as you buy The Lab, you immediately have access to the drone recipe. However, you must buy it from the Builder’s Shop before you can start building. Once you have the recipe unlocked, head over to the Fabricator and check the materials. You may already have some of the plorts, but if you don’t you can find the honey and hunter slimes in the moss blanket, and quantum slimes in the ancient ruins. For the slime science components, jellystone can be collected with any drill, and hexacomb with any apiary. Wild honey is also collected with an Apiary, but only if it is placed in the moss blanket.
Placing The Drones
Once you have some drones built, it’s time to start setting them up. There is a limit to two drones per expanse, so you need to be efficient with their tasks. However, to be efficient with your drones, you must first be efficient with your slimes. Set up your ranch so that each expanse only holds slimes with a specific diet. For example, The main ranch can be filled with fruit eating slimes, while the overgrowth can house meat eaters. by doing this, you can place down one of your drones to deliver one type of food to all of your corrals, therefore keeping all of your slimes fed. Have the second drone pick up all types of plorts from the plort collectors and store them in a silo. You don’t want to sell right away, since especially with the rarer plorts it would be more beneficial to wait for a highly priced day. you can find all of your future prices here, [link] although it does not account for any plorts you have sold.
Tips
- If you use two different types of largos that share a common slime, you can use that slime’s favorite food to receive double plorts
- In The Grotto, you can completely get rid of all corrals and have your slimes roam free. This helps a lot if you have chaotic slimes like Quantum Dervish Largos, which will completely destroy the peace on your farm if not given enough attention. Here, you can just let the slimes eat directly from the farms, so make sure you don’t have scareslimes.
- If your slimes somehow escape and get into your garden, or you decided to go with the free range option for your slimes, you can switch the programming of the collection drone to target plorts on the ground instead of from the collectors
