Overview
I was wondering (like most out there XD) what’s the most profitable drug to produce and I came across some numbers that analyze profit per plant. Almost always the question is smoke vs flake, which is more profitable.such as:https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/dt416x/why_its_more_profitable_to_make_smokeleaf_joints/the conclusion there is smoke is more prfitable $108.87(smoke) vs $102.69 (flake) per growing space per year. That’s not a huge margin, but ok. (yayo is not even mentioned)”But, space is not the most scarce resource, it’s time” I said. So, I made an experiment. How much profit can I make, IN THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME, producing the three drugs.

Experiment
***EDIT: So, I made the whole guide again. Thanks to @BallinStalin who pointed that flake and yayo used intellectual for crafting instead of cooking***
So, Using this setup, I made them produce the three drugs for 20 days.
Three identical colonists (Joint, Flake and Yayo), all with planting lvl 10 and cooking lvl 10 or intellectual lvl 8.
Using dev mode I made sure they were working ALL the time (when one finished crafting I would insta grow another batch of plants.
Producing joints
- After 10 days
552 joints * $11 = $6072
- After 20 days
1100 joints * $11 = $12100
Producing Flake
- After 10 days
768 units * $14 = $10752
- After 20 days
1556 units * $14 = $21784
Producing Yayo
- After 10 days
480 joints * $21 = $10080
- After 20 days
956 joints * $21 = $20076
*Note that the values at day 20 are pretty close to double those at day 10 making the experiment quite consistent.
Final thoughts
So, in conclusion, joints are WAY below the other two in terms of profit. The two possible scenarios are personal use or if you don’t have a plant lvl 6 pawn yet (which can happen only in the very beggining, mostly)
Of the other two flake is on top by a VERY SMALL (in my opinion) margin, considering how dengerous flake is:
“It is a cheaper and less powerful version of yayo but has a significantly higher addiction rate which makes using this drug somewhat impractical.” – from the wiki.
