Duck Game: Guide on the Basics of Movement

Overview

This guide will help every player who wants to know the basics of the game, mostly the beginners and newcomers.

Intro

This guide will tell you the basics of the game for movement. Some of these “rules” that I am giving you can be broken wtih more advanced movement options like “Gun Jumping.” These abilities will not be discussed in this guide.

Moving

This guide will use the default keys for keyboard and controller (xBox 360).

Moving

Moving in duck game is the 2nd easiest thing to do.
You can move on keyboard by pressing and holding the [A] or [D] key. On controller, you press and hold the “Left” and “Right” arrow on the D pad, or angle the Left Analog Stick to the left or right.

Jumping and Floating

Jumping is the key way to build your altitude. When combined with moving, you can get almost anywhere in the vanilla maps for duck game.

To jump, press [W] on keyboard or (A) on controller. Note that the longer you hold the button, the higher you jump. Timing this can allow you to outspeed opponents.

As you can see in the picture, you can jump up 3 blocks. You only get 1 jump in this game, and you can only use the jump from the ground (for the most part)

Late Jumping

If you time the jump just right, you can jump at the beginning of when you fall, note the first jump:

Floating

When you are in the air, and you want to travel further, press and hold [W] on keyboard or (A) on controller to slowly float! You can travel further, and you will still fall, but at a much slower speed.

Sliding

Sliding is something you can do to get lower to the ground or break glass.
To slide, you must hold [D] on keyboard or “Down” on controller while moving.

Quacking

Quacking is the easiest thing to do in Duck Game, and also the most important. A well time quack will always get a laugh out of somebody, maybe even yourself. Quacking has as much depth as moving and sliding, so lets get into it.

To quack, press [E] on keyboard and (B) on controller. If you hold the quack button, you can keep your mouth open. This also works with hats.

Quack Pitch

I can not demonstrate this with a GIF, because there is no sound. This is impossible to do on a keyboard via default controls. However, on a controller, the furhter down you hold {RT}, the higher pitched your quack will be. This is one thing the controller has over keyboard users.

Strafing

Srafing is a way to face the same direction while moving the opposite. This is done by holding the [B] key on keyboard and {LB} on controller.

Tripping

Tripping can allow for some neat tricks like pretending to be dead in FFA or some advanced tricks. You can trip by pressing [Q] on keyboard and {RB} on controller.

Press the trip button again to get back up. Remember that players can pick you up and throw you off the map if they so choose, leaving you with a hard time getting back up.

Basic Interactions

You can pick up and “use” items in Duck Game you find on the ground for your own use. Pick up an item with [C] on keyboard and (Y) on controller. You can pick up equipables, weapons, and props with the pickup key.

If you press the interact key with an item again, you will throw it. You can throw an item further while moving, or drop it at your feet while holding [S] or “Down.”

The use key (the [V] key on keyboard or (X) on controller) allows you to use the item you have in your hand via interaction. This will let you: Shoot guns, equip items, and activate items in your hand like a mine or grenade.

You can throw items in your hand further if you throw diagonally (moving and holding up at the same time).

Paying Respects

Press the “Use” key over a dead duck’s head to close their eyes.
