Overview
This is a basic guide to Dungeons of Kragmor that will include controls, how to eat food/equip items, and how to “fix” game bugs temporarily (though if you do find or bug or have any questions, I would highly recommend you head to the forums where the devs can help you out). Side Note: I do not own the branding image used here.
Basic Controls
Left Mouse Button: Standard Ranged Attack
Right Mouse Button: Special Attack, claims harvested material from pet OR harvests(depending on the staff you are using)
In order to harvest with the default staff you have to hold right click near one of the nodes with the hand symbol over them. You should see a beam of energy shoot out and you start to collect materials every few seconds.
X Button: Paralyzes a mob for a short time or obscures another player’s view partially. This does have a cooldown
Shift Button: Sprint
9 and 0 Buttons: Summons a harvester pet to collect stone/wood based on the pet summoned.
Tab: Opens inventory
Esc: Opens Menu that includes list of players online, towers (claimed or unclaimed), a shorter list of controls, and the exit button.
F button: Claims towers (follow the prompt when you get close to one), and when your cursor is focused on a player, you can invite them to form a party.
1-8: Hotbar keys.
Inventory Interaction
After pressing TAB, the inventory should pop up in game. This will allow you access to being able to: eat food, place items in the hotbar, check quests, craft basic equipment/food, and craft special rooms for your tower if you own one.
Eating food: Hover mouse over food item and right click.
Equipping items: Right click equippable item or manually drag it to its slot.
Crafting: make sure that you have the prequisite items first before trying to craft anything. it will be highlighted in red if you don’t have them. Same goes for tower room crafting.
Bugs/Temporary Fixes
Bugs in DoK are plentiful, and can be relatively harmless to game breaking. This section is just temporary fixes for SOME of the bugs that I have found can be temporarily fixed. If you do find a bug be sure to report it on the Dungeons of Kragmor Steam forums!
For inventory and Esc menus that aren’t working, try force quitting and waiting a little bit before restarting the game. I am unsure of what causes it, but it seems to happen within a short amount of time for a bit.
If your staff’s right click is not working( and you are NOT using the default staff on harvesting nodes) try manually unequiping the staff by holding left click and dragging back into your inventory. Wait a few seconds, then manually drag it back into the equipment slot.
If your harvester pets are not being summoned, only relogging the game will fix that unfortunately unless you want to manually grind for them with the default staff.
If your right click isn’t working and you have a tome equipped, try using the above method or unequip both the tome and the staff manually, requip the tome, then requip the staff.
Enemies that are frozen will immediately unfreeze when you get too close or attack them.
Don’t log out in your tower if you own one yet, there seems to be a bug where you fall through the floor if you log back in.
Towers and what they are for
Sooner or later, you will most likely come across large towers where you find harvesting nodes (more on those later) and different mobs. Each tower has a small “porch” with a large stone on a pedestal nearby. This stone has a glowing hole in the center, might be connected to the lamp of the tower with a beam of light, and will usually have around 5000 health.
What tower are for: Towers function as player homes with additional in game features that give you an edge in PVE and PVP. Towers can be upgraded with rooms that allow crafting of better armor/weapons, healing potions, a respawn point, and a way to get rid of all that flour you have been toting around.
Rooms:
Bedroom: Provides a respawn point for you when you die.
Workshop: Allows the crafting of tier 2-3 armor and weapons.
Laboratory: Allows the crafting of Health Potions.
Kitchen: So far, you can only craft one thing here….At least it gets rid of the flour….
Tower Stone: The tower stone is the large stone just outside of your tower that is connected by a beam of light. As mentioned before, it will have 5000 health, and any player (as of this moment) can only deal 5 damage to it with any attack. This makes attacking the stone is somewhat boring if the owner is around to chase you off. If your tower is under attack, a sound will play, and a text will pop up on the right personal chatbox that says: “Your tower is under attack!” If your/another player’s tower stone reaches 0 health, the tower is unclaimed. If your tower is unclaimed, then another sound will play and another piece of text will pop up in the right personal chatbox in purple that tells you the tower was unclaimed.
In order to claim an unclaimed tower, walk up to the tower stone and check to see if there is a beam of light connecting it to the tower. If there isn’t a prompt will appear and tell you to press F when targeting the tower stone. A beam of light should connect the stone to the tower, and the tower has been claimed by you!
Anytime you unclaim, or another person unclaims a tower every room that has been built is gone, making defending your tower vital whenever you are on.
Harvesting Wood and Stone
Besides getting these materials from mob drops, there are two additional ways to gather wood and stone. The question is: Why? Well, wood is used for both crafting rooms for the tower and crafting the more powerful weapons available. Stone is used for just tower crafting, and you need lots of stone and wood to craft the rooms, so grinding these two materials from mobs is the slowest possible way to do this.
Harvester Nodes and Pets: Nearby the towers, are several large stones and logs with a hand symbol over them. These are harvester nodes, and these nodes are the only places to get wood and stone reliably. Beware! Many mobs like to be nearby those nodes so caution is advised!
Harvester Pets; On the Hotbar, towards the 9 and 0 buttons. These buttons will summon your harvester pets to head to the nearest node and harvest their selected material (9 is wood, 0 is stone.). These pets appear to have 100 health, but will die in a single shot from any player while mobs will outright ignore it. These pets harvest wood and stone extremely slowly, but will automatically head to the nearest unemptied node when finished with their previous one and only require supervision when other players are about.
Staff Harvesting: The default staff has no right click attack. Instead, when targeting a harvesting node with the default staff and you hold right click down, a beam of light will shoot out and you will start collecting the appropriate resource every three seconds. The wood harvesting requires you to stand in a certain spot to harvest atm, typically towards the end helps. Harvesting with a staff is much faster than a harvester pet, but requires you to be more active and cautious against PVP and PVE, as you will have to stop several times to fend off mobs and perhaps players.
Starting Out:
Unlike most games, there is no leveling system in Dungeons of Kragmor. Instead, you have to craft better and better gear in order to strengthen your character. When you first start out, you have no gear. In order to make it farther, I would recommend crafting a full set of tier 1 gear. Tier 1 gear is automatically available to be crafted when you start, provided that you have the materials required.
Until you upgrade to a tier 1 staff at the least, the pink bar at the top of your hotbar means nothing. When you do upgrade, all of a sudden, the pink bar should be filled to 20/20 charges. These charges are expended when you right click and a different attack animation will play out and the pink bar will drop to 19/20 charges.
In order to refill the charges, you will have to find ponds that are located near towers. These ponds have a column of light shooting from them, and when you stand in the center a text will appear that will tell you the staff is recharging. After every few seconds, the personal chatbox will tell you that you gained a charge. The pink bar may not show you that you gained a charge, but using a right click will set the pink bar to its right amount minus one.
