Overview
A guide for new players wanting to figure out how to play.
Intro
Hello, You’re here cause you want to know how to play the game but can’t seem to figure it out. No worries, thats what this guide is for.
Kickboxing – Full
Kickboxing is DW2’s most finished and stable gamemode. However as its easy to learn, its very hard to master. So lets get into the controls for it.
Some quick notes
- You can attack while blocking but it will lower your guard, allowing you to be dismembered
- Combining Movement Keys with Attack keys will change your attack.
- You can attack in rapid succession depending on which move it is.
- You can block when knocked on the ground.
These are pretty important to remember
Since thats been shown, its time to talk about how physics affect the gameplay.
Attacking (or attacking in a repeated fashion) can lead to your character falling over, they are ragdolls and are affected by physics. So moving alot and attempting to attack will lead you to hilariously toppling over. So try to keep movement to a minimum while also not spamming every attack. Especially kicks.
The Kickboxing combat system is flexible, but since its physics based you’ll need to know when to attack and when to defend. This comes into play with blocking and attacking.
When blocking you will reduce the chances of you being decapitated or sent flying by a ton. But attacking while blocking will lower your guard and allow you to be decapitated. Timing your blocks is important and is something to note.
Another thing to note when blocking, you have a bar which is the amount of energy you have for blocking until you can no longer block. It decreases when hit and once its reached to the point where no energy is left, you will be hit as if you weren’t blocking. Blocking at this point would lead to you losing points for an insufficient block.
When you attack, you leave your body open for hits aswell. If you land your attack on a non blocking opponent then you have a chance of dismembering them depending on the speed of the hit, but you will almost always send them flying if they weren’t blocking.
When you attack make sure you’re attacking at the right time, as attacking at the wrong time could have you miss your shot and open you for an attack. Same goes for your opponent.
Gameplay Summary – Kickboxing
Note: When joining/Hosting a game the controls are in the Upper Left corner of the screen.
The controls are|
Arrow Keys – Attacks
WASD – Movement
Left Alt – Change Opponent
Spacebar – Block
Shift – Run
Now, a few things to note. To do certain attacks you will combine the movement and arrow keys to pull off new moves, For example D+Down Arrow will make you do a roundhouse kick. You also cannot block and attack at the same time, doing so will put your guard down and allow for your opponent to kill you.
This is a quick rundown on what you can do, I’ll add the rest of the guide very soon
