Overview
Do you have the annoying lightning problem? The one which makes everything look super bright? I know its annoying, But I have a fix!
Imporant Step!
First off, Enable Cheats by typing the following Command in Console:
sv_cheats 1
Then again, Type:
- sv_cheats
And select the first option that comes from the drop down menu (It should be sv_cheats 1)
This is very important as some of the Commands might not work without the Cheats enabled.
Fix Via Console
Once You have enabled Cheats, In the Console, Type:
- mat_fullbright 0
I have tried this command, And it only fixed the bug in the Chapter “We Don’t Go To Ravenholm”. You can try this command in any chapter you like, Who knows, Maybe You’ll have more luck than I did… If this didnt fix it for you, Continue reading…
Advaced Console Fixing
You are most probably reading this because the above fix didnt help you… Well, This fix has helped many users, And I hope it will help you too.
Open Console and type this in order:
- mat_dxlevel 90
- mat_hdr_level 2
- mat_hdr_enabled
- mat_fullbright 0
Once you have done that the map should be fixed. If you had the DX set to 8 before, And now are seeing purple boxes or you want to run the game in dxlevel 80 (Mostly because your card is old and runs games better at DX 8 Than 9), Then after typing all of the above commands, Type:
- mat_dxlevel 80
If it starts looking bright again, Then simply, In the console, Type:
- mat_fullbright 0
But even after typing the above code doesnt fix the bug for DX 8 Users, then continue reading…
Simplest Fix!
I am truly sorry that none of the above fixes worked for you, But don’t give up hope yet! there still is one more fix that you haven’t tried! Its a simple one, and requires a download.

Don’t worry, It is Safe to Download, Totally Virus Free and Totally Working! (Tested By Me!) Apparently, This was the only Fix that helped me get rid of the Bug, And I hope that your Bug will be gone too!
