Editing vehicle textures ( + LAPD vehicles) [CLOSED/OUTDATED] for Enforcer: Police Crime Action

Editing vehicle textures ( + LAPD vehicles) [CLOSED/OUTDATED]

Overview

A quick guide to edit vehicle textures in Enforcer: Police, Crime, ActionTwo sample LAPD vehicle textures are available to download (LAPD cruiser, LAPD interceptor)AS, UNFORTUNATELY, THE STUDIO THAT DEVELOPED THE GAME HAS SHUT DOWN, THE DOWNLOAD LINK TO THE CUSTOM TEXTURES HAS BEEN REMOVED AND THIS GUIDE WILL NO LONDER UPDATED, NOR WILL SUPPORT BE PROVIDED.

Locate the textures

First step to edit the vehicle textures in Enforcer is to locate the textures of the vehicles.
Don’t worry it’s not hard at all!

You are going to close the game in case you still have it open, next up you are going to go to the location on your computer where you installed steam. Assuming you are using windows and you haven’t changed the default install location this should be in the folder Programs(x86) (if you did change the location when you installed steam simply go to the folder you chose e.g: folderwhereIinstalledmygame). Once in there look for another folder called steam and access it, the look for steamapps and again go into it, then look for common and finally open the folder called Enforcer.

Inside Enforcer you will see a folder called Enforcer_data and inside that folder another one called DATA_textures, open it and inside you will see several .JPG pictures. Those are the textures we are looking for!

To make it simple the default path for the folder containing the textures is or should look like:

C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonEnforcerEnforcer_DataDATA_Textures

Which texture for which vehicle?

So, now that we have found our textures we need to chose which vehicle we want to edit.
As you can probably see, the names of the files don’t really mean anything. That folder is a bit of a mess!

Here’s a list of all the names of the files with the vehicle they match:

  • PoliceCarAn_xxx: your first vehicle, a police cruiser. n is for the ingame vehicle style (1,2,3) and xxx is left or right, meaning left side texture or right side texture of the vehicle
  • PoliceCarBn_xxx: vehicle model 2, a police interceptor. n is for the ingame vehicle style (1,2,3) and xxx is for main or sec, meaning left side texture for main and right side texture for sec
  • PoliceCarCn_Main: n is again the vehicle style, and in this case only Main is there because the entire texture is in one picture
  • PolicePickup_xxxN: self explanatory, a police pickup. xxx here is for left or right and N is the vehicle style
  • PoliceBikeN: a police motorbike, here again the entire texture is in one picture so no need for left/right, only the vehicle style number
  • PoliceCar_Avenger_n vehicle model 7, similar to the first vehicle. The entire texture is in one picture only and n is for the vehicle style

Alright, now pick the picture(s) of the ingame vehicle you want to edit and get ready to edit it!

Editing a texture

Now that you know where to find the textures and that you have picked the vehicle you want to edit it’s time to actually edit the texture.

First of make sure you have some image editing software like paint, photoshop or gimp. I would recomend using photoshop since it’s the one I have and since I hate gimp! Photoshop should give you more freedom to modify your new texture since you won’t be able to see it until you are in game. But gimp should allow you to do that too and paint should work great too, you won’t be doing anything fancy so it should really be more than ok, actually if you never used photoshop or gimp, don’t bother, just use paint.

Now open the image with your editing software, it should look like something like this:

note: yes photoshop isn’t in english…I couldn’t change the language :p

You can clearly see the different parts of the car in the picture, all you have to do now is modify the texture.

  • When you are painting make sure you follow the outlines of the section you are painting
  • When adding a logo or text take into account the shape of the car as it will modify the apperance of it
  • When modifying the right side image of a car make sure text and logos are inverted orizontally, in fact despite looking the right way in the picture if you leave them the same as the left image they will be inverted in game
  • When saving the modifing image make sure it has the same name as the original one, this means replacing the original one with your modified one

This is what a modified left side looks like:

And a right side:

Note: As you can see in this picture the text needs to be inverted orizontally

LAPD vehicle textures

In case you want to have a better look at a modified vehicle texture or if you want to use these vehicle textures I am going to give you two modified vehicles. (Download link at the bottom)

These are two LAPD police vehicles. I modified the textures and I am currently using them in game.

The first one is for the first vehicle, the police cruiser, I modified it to make it similar to an LAPD cruiser:

And the second one, my favourite! 🙂 an LAPD police interceptor, it is a modified version of the second vehicle available in the game:
