Enemies of Duskers (infestations)

Overview

This guide will help you understand the infestation types of the indie game, Duskers.

Patrol Bot

(Grunt/Purple Bot/Security Bot)

The Patrol Bot is a synthetic enemy. Equipped with a machine gun that does ~3 damage per shot, it is relatively weak compared to other enemies. It moves at a pace comparable to your drones and shouldn’t be too hard to flee from. Due to its synthetic nature it is not affected by Sonic. They seem to remain stationary when firing too. Aesthetically, they are purple and robot shaped.

Brute

(Leaper/Crystal)

The Brute is a fast moving organic enemy. Upon seeing one of your drones, the brute will charge at it dealing 90 damage upon impact (enough to disable weaker drones). Being near impossible to dogde it is best to avoid Brutes entirely and use Traps, Airlocks or Defenses to kill them. When not attacking they move at a much slower speed. Two mines are required to kill due to this creature having a large health pool. A Brute is arguably the most dangerous enemy (of course depending on the scenario).

Swarm

(Bees/The Bane of My Existence)

The Swarm is a large group of roughly 20 small robots. Upon contact with a swarm, a drone takes about 42 damage and then another 42 every 2 seconds (this is not exact!). They have special abilities unlike some of the other enemies consisting of:

  • The ability to chew through and destroy doors.
  • The use of vents (Tip: Close all doors around a room with vents, vent shown in picture).

They can move faster than most drones meaning that fleeing may not be an option. However, a good way to detect them is through their slight buzzing sound that is audiable through doors (recommend not entering!). Being synthetic drones, Sonic has no effect. Swarms are extremly dangerous!

Slime

(Goo/Acid/Bacteria)

The Slime is a slow moving creature that will cause certain areas to become impassable. The slime will duplicate itself to spread to larger and larger areas, this is deadly in narrow corridors as it may mean that you wont be able to travel along them. Slime deals damage over time as long as you remain in it (so don’t). Like the Swarms the Slime has special abilities:

  • Can not be detected by Motion (moves too slow)
  • Can spawn out of walls
  • Slows drones down while dealing damage

If you know there is Slime on the ship then time is of the essence! Move fast before doors and corridors are completely blocked. Slime will often go after your non-moving drones (eg. Generators), so remember to check back on them periodically.

Space Dog

While not really an enemy (as it does not attack), this “infestation” can be heard barking and seen wagging its tail. It can trigger mines and trigger scanners but has no red box like other infestations. Can be herded back to your docking ship. Theres not much else to say… its a space dog.

Tips

Look out for the infestation number. It will tell you how many types of enemy you will be facing. For example, if you see a Brute and the infestation number is 1, you wont need to worry about vents as there will be no Swarms.
