Overview
A starting point for sorting out the math behind the bonuses from options in SIZ.
Enhanced Training – Basic Math
So I’ve been digging into the early game and playing with ET to see how much I’m going to hate the choices I’ve made early on.
So what does the ET point actually do?
Like a lot of things in this game, I found the description of ET a little misleading.
It says it increases the base by 200% per point. And this isn’t exactly wrong, but its not exactly correct.
It is more accurate to say that each point increases a base multiplier by 3 (additive).
So let me demonstrate this with Fire Wall.
Base is 22.
With 3 points I will have a base of 198.
Then, with 4 points I will have a base of 264.
So the obvious math at 4 points is 22 * (3 + 3 + 3 + 3).
So this means there is a base multiplier which is 3 * [number of points spent]
At the first point, it works as decribed. Base * 3, which is the additional 200% advertised. However, adding 3 everytime is where this is misleading. You are not adding 200% again but rather adding the new base (from the first) for each additional point. So you actually get more raw gain for the second point, and less overall gain as you continue to spend points.
So if you spend an additional point you gain less overall as follows:
So now the question is when should we stop spending points. Is it better to put 1-2 points into everything or is all in to your best skill a better option.
I will leave this for the next section to pause for some discussion, to see if there is a best way to factor in cost and normalize the value of points to determine which are best.
