Overview
A video walkthrough of Ethan: Meteor Hunter for all fragments + Cheese + Time Challenges with missable achievements explained.
Welcome!
I found this game to be crazy difficult with a steep learning curve in the beginning. The first few levels are fiercely competitive, but by level 8 there is a significant drop in competition. I was about to give up and move on too, however, something extraordinary happened during level 3: “Highs and Lows” on my *final* rage quit attempt at a speed run. Ethan took off flying from one end of the level to other and that’s when I realized how cool and rewarding this game can be.
I hope you give the game a chance and this guide will help alleviate some of the frustration. The puzzles can be difficult to figure out and even more so when executing it in real-time.
I have recorded my best fragment/cheese challenge walkthroughs and also my best time speed runs. The game is all about doing things a different way so I hope it inspires you with ideas to improve your own game and maybe even beat some of my times >=)
*Note that most of the pause challenges are usually obtained in either the fragment or time videos (indicated by a icon.) However, I did not make a separate video for this so a few may be missing. If you need help with one let me know in a comment.
Game Overview
There are 3 leaderboards/challenges per level: Clear time, fragments collected, and pauses used. Levels can be replayed at any time to unlock a particular challenge or to get a faster time. Some levels have a collectable cheese, which is indicated on the level map by a block of cheese above it. Once all cheeses are obtained, this will unlock the hidden level on that map. Hidden levels must be completed to unlock the achievements associated with challenges.
Tips and Tricks
The character movement isn’t explained all that well by the over-simplified tutorial. Here are some of my own notes I hope you find useful.
While Sliding:
- Jumping into the slope will gain momentum.
- Holding the movement key in the direction of the slope will build up speed.
- If jumping off the slope or at the end of one, DO NOT let go of the slide key until AFTER pressing the jump key. There is a chance he will stand up, which could be detrimental.
Jumping:
- Holding down the jump key increases the length of the jump.
- Jump key must be released before a second jump can occur.
- During slope initiated jumps, don’t press any movement keys, after leaving the slope. There is chance he will attempt to run rather than jump upon touch down.
- Pressing the movement key in the opposite direction during a jump will slow it down.
Pause:
- While in a pause, the environment stops, however, the timer keeps going. This is significant when speed-running. A better time can only be obtained if a pause can be performed faster than the time it saves in the environment path.
- Upon grabbing an object, it cannot be released outside of the pause area or in the same space as another object. This can be extremely frustrating at first when you know what the end result should be, but the objects weren’t picked up in the “correct” order.
- Once un-paused, gravity sets in on all objects. Waiting until just the right moment before initiating the pause makes it less likely the object won’t be where you expected it to.
- Be sure to set the mouse sensitivity to 100% from the game options. This will give a faster pause time.
Toggling the Slide Key and Rapid Fire
Ok, so I mentioned some pointers about sliding in the previous topic. If it is let go too soon, it can ruin a great jump or if you forget to hold it down it messes up everything. There is no penalty for holding it down while running or jumping. It’s just another thing to have to think about, which is distracting from the timing of the important stuff.
I found it useful to make the slide key stay down once pressed. Press it again to turn it off (if you need to run up a slope.) This can be done with a keyboard macro. If you are not familiar with one, I used a freeware tool Autohotkey: [link]
Below is the script I used and can be changed from the “s” key to whatever key you have bound to the slide action. Just copy the code and save it to a text file with an .ahk extension. Double-clicking the file will automatically open and run the script in Autohotkey.
Also included in the code is a rapid fire script for the vessel levels. I set it to Num0 – just hold the button down and fire away. This should save the life of the keyboard for a bit longer.

Missable Achievements
As long as you unlock the 3 challenges in all levels, including the hidden levels, most of the achievements should unlock. The descriptions on most are self-explanatory. Here are any that may need additional work/explanation:
Do you think you’re an acrobat?
I have gotten it to unlock twice now within level 4: Knock Knock where there is a wheel placed on a mouse trap. It seems to have something to do with launching a wheel into the air and standing on it.
I am not sure if the achievement is bugged or it requires that you repeat this x number of times and just doesn’t tell us that in the description. Here is a video of it unlocking for me:
Use it, that’s what it’s there for!
Use “back to checkpoint” 20 times in a single level.
Use THE most secret code in the world
Enter the code, indicated in the image, on the “Press Enter” start screen. Use the keyboard arrows and letters.
