Overview
On this guide I’ll talk about everything that you need to know about obelisks in-depth.
Obelisks sizes
Hello everyone, my name is Raf and we are going to talk about the obelisks on this guide.
First of all, here’s some screenshots of all the obelisks in different sizes
Big obelisk
The big obelisks are tall and fat, they need a lot of players to break and may need specific animals.
Medium obelisk
The medium obelisks are tall and thin, they need around 2-4 players for it to break and may need specific animals.
Small obelisk
The small obelisks are, of course, small and fat, they only need 2 players for it to break and it doesn’t require any specific animals.
The stages of an obelisk
Do you see those dots on the obelisk? There’s a total of 3 stages that the dot goes through.
First stage: The dot is not glowing, meaning that you are not in range of the obelisk.
Second stage: The dot is now glowing slightly, meaning that you are in range of the obelisk.
Third stage: If you make sound with your animal, the dot will glow a lot, meaning that one of the dots has activated.
Make all of the dots in an obelisk glow a lot and it will break, rewarding you with yellow puzzle pieces or blue puzzle pieces. Here’s a screenshot of a large group breaking a big obelisk.
Maximum range for an obelisk
You don’t need to stand right next to the obelisk to break it, on the screenshot below, you will see the maximum range where an obelisk can detect the player.
Spotting obelisks
The obelisks have a pointy tip and they are not covered in snow or anything. Here’s a screenshot of all the obelisks in different distances. You can click on the screenshot to view a larger version of it.
Spotting obelisks with different settings
Depending on how powerful your computer is, you may be running the game on the lowest or highest settings, on the screenshots below, you will see how the settings affects you search for obelisks.
Minimum settings
Maximum settings
The higher the settings, the more detail you will see on the screen, and on this case, it didn’t really affect the difficulty of spotting distant obelisks that much. I’m not saying that you should be playing the game on the lowest settings to have less detail in your screen and spot obelisks more quickly, but you should pay more attention to the screen when playing with higher settings.
Obelisk spawns
I’m not totally sure how long it takes for an obelisk to spawn, but I do know that they don’t spawn randomly around the map, if they did, they would appear in weird areas.
By the way, they don’t spawn inside caves, you will find a lot of things inside caves, but not obelisks.
But there are specific locations where the obelisks will spawn sooner or later, but I would advise you to keep looking for new obelisks in other areas and not wait for an obelisk to spawn in a place that you have been waiting for, because if you just wait, you are going to waste your time, just keep exploring the world and come back to the an area later to check if any obelisks respawned. Also, the obelisks will not spawn under the big trees, but they may spawn in the area around the big trees.
And yes, they can spawn very close to each other.
Where to look for obelisks
You will naturally find obelisks around the map, but the snow area and the fields around the big trees are expecially filled with a lot of obelisks.
Here’s a screenshot of the snow fields area
If you are still lost, look at the maps in other guides, they will help you out a lot.
Cave obelisk
With the newest Meadow update, we have a new area near the autumn biome, and inside of the new area you’ll find a giant obelisk. (This new autumn area also has a big tree, but don’t confuse this big tree with the others.)
It’s an obelisk that is covering the entrance to a cave. Here’s a closer screenshot.
And here’s a top view of the cave obelisk.
Just like the other obelisks, it makes a spooky sound when you get close to it, however, this obelisk doesn’t have any “dots” to activate. It’s currently unknown if the cave obelisk can be destroyed.
Other obelisk facts
1_ This is just a rumour, but some users realized that the map will have more obelisks if more players are on the server.
2_ Obelisks can spawn right in front of you.
3_ Obelisks will spawn in the same place after you break it and wait a few minutes, but not all of the obelisks will do that.
4_ Obelisks will have different sounds when standing next to them, but I’m not sure if the size of the obelisk changes the sound they make.
