Overview
A short guide about the input delay/lag bug regarding the Logitech controller (PC).
F310 / F710
== Getting it to work on Dark Souls II ==
- You do not need to install the Logitech Gaming Software for it to work on Windows 7.
- You must use XInput instead of Direct Input. See the image below for finding the button.
- Because you use XInput, the Logitech Gaming Software won’t allow you to calibrate it anyway.
== Input Delay ==
There is an input delay for the left analog stick. They probably didn’t port the game properly. Why this is an issue? Making jump attacks and guard breaks are near impossible and extremely unreliable because of it. There is also no option in the game to reconfigure these controls.
Some other controllers also have this issue but it does not happen to everyone.
== Workaround ==
Press the [Mode] button (below the [Select] button) and use the D-pad instead. I know, it’s terribly bad for movement. But playing the game without guard breaks and jump attacks puts you at a serious disadvantage for both PVE and PVP.
DO NOT edit the gamefiles to fix this problem. I know it can be fixed but they’ll ban you for it.
Alternatively you could buy the Microsoft XBox 360 controller (for PC). That controller seemed to work for me. I used the wired one if that matters.
According to “Wasp Soul” plugging in a 360 controller and then switching back to your Logitech controller fixes the bug as well. We’re not sure but perhaps the Logitech still works if you can somehow get the 360 drivers installed on your system.
== Customer Support ==
I sent a polite e-mail to their customer support via the offical route asking for help about the input delay issues. But they never got back to me. I only got an automated reply stating “Thank you for your e-mail”…
