Overview
This guide solves the problem with missing speech/talking sounds of Geralt and various NPCs, after changing language settings.

Description of the Problem
Problem Source: Changing language settings in Steam or the launcher.
The Problem: Geralt and NPCs remain silent while conversating.
Problem Causer: The engine, which isn’t able to find the right audio files.
The Solution
First, choose a language you want to play with and keep that one in mind. You can change it later any time using the following steps.
Select the game in your Steam library, right click its name in the list to the left hand side and choose Properties.
Navigate to the Language tab and choose one of the seven available languages from the dropdown menu. Close the Properties window.
Start the game through Steam. ! It should download the required audio files now. This might take a while. If it doesn’t, you already have them installed.
You now have the audio files. Now we need to configure them properly.
Start the game and in the game launcher, navigate to Options. Set Text Language and Voice-over Language to your desired option (The same option as in step 2.). Confirm your input by clicking OK. Close the launcher.
Press your Start button on the desktop or on your keyboard and enter regedit.exe into the search field. Start regedit after it shows up.
In regedit.exe (start with windows+r or windows search), navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/CD Projekt RED/The Witcher 2. Select the Speech option, right click it and select Modifiy and set it to EN, if you want English audio output.
You can also choose a different language code. A full List can be found here[www.science.co.il].
Close regedit and start the game.
Audio output should be working now.
