Overview
This guide will hopefully fix crashing after the intro cutscene and will list some mods to make F:NV that much better.
Requirements
Nexus Mod Manager[www.nexusmods.com]
NVSE[nvse.silverlock.org]
(Extract everything in the archive to your F:NV root folder, ([DRIVE]Program FilesSteamsteamappscommonFallout New Vegas)
You must’ve run F:NV at least once; open the launcher and press play then, on the main menu, press quit.

Install and run “Sort Load order” on the top bar, make sure you’re doing it to Fallout New Vegas! (You should do it to all your Bethesda games)
Fixing the Intro Cutscene Crash (d3d9.dll)
- Go over to this Nexus page [www.nexusmods.com] and download manually, extract it with WinRar [www.rarlab.com]or 7zip or something to your F:NV root folder (Default is [DRIVEProgram FilesSteamsteamappscommonFallout New Vegas), Alternatively, right click on F:NV in Steam, go to properties, local files and browse local files. Once you’ve put d3d9.dll in your F:NV folder, try starting a new game. If it works, great! Power to you! (This one worked for me with a GTX 1070)[/list]
- If it doesn’t, try the 2nd dll on that nexus page or using the ATI fix[www.nexusmods.com].
If that still doesn’t work, try the d3d9.dll generator[www.nexusmods.com]. Sorry but I have no idea how that one works :/
Some Stability and Performance Mods

Click “Files” on Nexus and dowload either Base Game and All DLC if you have all DLC, or scroll down to find individual ESMs if you don’t with NMM, (If you use the individual ESMs untick the patches for the DLC you don’t have in the plugin section of NMM)
F:NV 4GB[www.nexusmods.com]
Download manually and put everything in your root F:NV folder, create a shortcut of 4gbfnv and put it on your desktop, your taskbar, anywhere.
New Vegas Stutter Remover[www.nexusmods.com]
This is an NVSE plugin so put it in (Your F:NV folder) DataNVSEPlugins, create any that don’t exist. (I think NVSR comes with a Plugins folder but there’s no harm making one anyway).
Once installed, go to the plugins folder and open the NVSR config file. Find max fps, put it to 60.

Similar if not identical installation to NVSR.
