Fixing Pen Cursor Offset for OpenCanvas 6

Fixing Pen Cursor Offset

Overview

Are your lines showing AWAY from where you stroke with your tablet’s pen? Check this short guide for the most common cause, and the solution.

1. The problem.

As the image up there illustrates, the lines will appear away from your mouse cursor, which is also where you are physically moving your pen. This is called an offset. In most cases it will show to the left of the cursor, though not always.

2. The solution.

This one is pretty straight-forward. Check the bottom-right of openCanvas’ main window.

The Tablet and Coordinate fields are clickable, and thus changeable. You can fuss around with them to see what changes, but to fix the offset issue you’ll most likely only need to change the Coordinates to OS, rather than Tablet.

… PortalGraphics (the developer) really needs to update it so OS is the default setting. Anyway, that alone outta fix your issue. Just to make sure restart OC, though it MIGHT not be necessary.

If after fussing with the coordinate settings AND restarting OC your issue is STILL not fixed (either partially or at all), then you might want to check your pen tablet’s drivers. Look for any settings related with calibration.
