[NEEDED] Unity Assets Bundle Extractor

UABE IS NOT SUPPORTED ON MAC OS!

Download the newest version by clicking on the colored letters. Make sure you download the right file for your 32-bit or 64-bit system.

Click here for the Microsoft guide to check which bit you have[support.microsoft.com]

Please be reminded that the creator of this tool will release newer versions, so always download the latest version!

BE ADVISED!
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 is needed to run UABE!

Click here to download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010[www.microsoft.com]

FOR PEOPLE THAT DON’T HAVE THE SKILLS TO EXTRACT

After you downloaded the file, go to the place you saved the file and Right click on it and select Extract in AssetsBundleExtractor…

Then you should be getting this folder

Place that folder anywhere you like (I just placed it in the flashinglights_Data for sortings reasons)
And now you have the Assets Bundle Extractor!

Creating a back-up file

I want you to make a back-up file!
Navigate to you Flashing Lights root folder, and then in the map flashinglights_Data. After that make a copy of the following file:

  • resources.assets (file type is .assets/assets)

For most people the Flashing Lights root folder is here:
C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonFlashing Lights

If you really can’t find your root folder then:
Steam Library > Flashing Lights > Right click, select properties > Local files tab > Browse local files

Step 1 | Opening UABE

First I want you to go where you’ve extracted/installed UABE.
Open UABE (Unity Assets Bundle Extractor)

Step 2 | Opening an assets file

Go to File and click on Open

After that you will be prompted with a select a file screen

After that find the resource.assets file and click open

DON’T PANIC, IF THE PROGRAM CLOSES. JUST CLICK ON THE ICON ON YOUR TASKBAR!
You will be prompted with this screen

Step 3 | Searching for vehicle classnames

Navigate to the vehicle texture you want to replace (In this example I will navigate to the police one)
MAKE SURE THE TYPE OF FILE IS A TEXTURE2D

Don’t know which file you need to change for the vehicles you want?
Don’t worry! Here’s a link for all the vehicles classnames!
Vehicles classnames[www.flmods.com]

Step 4 | Replacing the texture and saving

If you found your file, click on the name of it and the name should be marked with blue. And then click on Plugins
After you clicked you will be prompted with another window

Then you click on Edit and after that on Ok
This will show up if you have done it correctly

DON’T CHANGE ANY OF THOSE SETTINGS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING

Click on load and then go to your location where you have stored you texture
TEXTURE MUST BE SAVED AS A .PNG FILE

Click on Open and then you can press Ok
After that you will get another window and press Ok (DON’T CHANGE ANY SETTINGS)

After that you will get back to the window with all the assets, there you can press Ok

Then you will be prompted with another window telling you if you want to save the file, press Yes (in your language) and save it where you want
BUT NOT WHERE THE ORIGINAL RESOURCES.ASSETS FILE IS! THE SAME RULE IS APPLIED TO ALL OTHER FILES YOU ARE TRYING TO EDIT!

Step 5 | Replacing the existing file with the modded one

After you saved the file drag that file into your flashinglight_Data folder, replace the existing file and here you have your skin in-game

Errors | Incompatible type database

Getting this error?

Make sure you are using the latest database! By scrolling down and select the last one!
BE ADVISED! DATABASE SELECTOR MAY CONTAIN NEWER DATABASES BECAUSE OF NEWER VERSION OF UABE!

Errors | Missing edit option in plugins tab

Getting no EDIT option when opening the plugins tab and you’ve checked you are at the correct file?

Please read the paragraph above about the databases etc.!

Errors | Unable to read

Getting this error?

Make sure to only select assets files, by selecting to only see assets file by selecting Assets file when in the window for opening files!

Errors | Cannot open file for writing

Getting this error?

Go back to Step 5 and read it carefully.
