Introduction
Hey guys π
As someone who loves cooking and farming in games, I had a lot of fun with Lantern Forge. With all the mouthwatering recipes in this game it is hard to decide what to cook next!
Some of us simpy cook whatever they feel like, others only cook that one favorite recipe (and maybe some cookies). But is that recipe really worth cooking it? Can I get money from cooking? Who knows?
Well, the developers do and now so do I. (And you.)
This is not at all finished, just an overview. Feel free to comment and add.
Have Fun!
Please note:
- This guide was made for LF Version 1.11.
- Just includes items that still count as βfoodβ (and minor potions, out of curiosity). Everything can be craftet with a stone oven or the glass alchemy lab.
- If you are the βI just carry 5 stacks of apples aroundβ-type: This guide is more about cooking.
- Keep in mind that selling food does not really kick it off in this game. However, I love playing as a farmer and will continue do it. π
The guides keeps crashing in the steam client when the pictures load, but can be viewed in the browser.

Food basics
Since this game comes without manual and you maybe came here looking for this instead of a table, here are some basic tips for food.
- Destroying grass sometimes gives you seeds, mushrooms etc. Useful on the first day.
- If you do not want to explore early on, make sure you build a Town Center and a Farm Goods Shop. There you will get seeds and vegetables you can process to seeds.
- Get all those apple (and lemon) trees and plant yourself a nice orchard.
- You can get stone for the oven underground. Enter through stairs, for example the ones at your spawn point. (Right click while not in combat mode or underground build mode.)
Food Tables
As the table-loving maniac I am I had to see the cold hard facts. π
Here you can see the food items, ingedients and beverages and their nutrition and sell value.
Sorted by Alphabet
Sorted by Nutrition
Sorted by Balance
Sorted by Value
Sorted by Profit
Note:
I did not include glass bottles. They are worth 3 bucks, if you want to consider that. Basically it just drops the price for water to 2 and for milk to 1 while adding another ingredient, but since the price is still included I did not find that necessary.
How to read the tables
Columns
* H.p.p.
H.p.p. describes the most you can get out of an item without adding another ingredient, by processing it into something else or not processing it at all. (processing = cooking or brewing)
For example, a carrot gives you 8 Nutrition but a cooked carrot gives you 12.
So 12 is the most you can get out of a carrot, not 8. (Processing)
The H. p. P. Value is used to calculate the sum of the ingredients worth.
Other examples:
- Flour = Bread, Bread = 12; 12 = Bread, Flour, Pasta (Processing to sth. else)
- Meat = 4x Bit of Meat, 4x Bit of Meat = 8; 8 = Meat, 4x Bit of Meat, Cooked Meat (Processing to sth. else)
- Sugar Beet = 5, Sugar = 5, Sugar = 2x Sugar Beet = 10 (Not Processing)
For clarity, H.p.p. is only added for items that are used as ingredients and with different Nutrition/Value and H.p.p.

Summary
For non-table-lovers here is a summary of the do’s and don’ts.
Eating
- The best items for cooking, with over 20 extra nutrition added by cooking, are Steak Meal (26) and Vegetable Soup (21).
- Don’t judge a book by it’s cover! (aka the cake IS a lie!) Eating chocolate cake is, from a rationl point of view, stupid. Just like in real life.
- While cooking Tomato Sauce itself is worthwhile, recipes including it are a bit disappointing regarding further nutrition gain.
- Omelett is good at starting conditions.
Selling
- If you want to show off your great cooking skills, only sell Chocolate Cake (27 profit) and show those vendors your inner pastry chef.
- The only other two items with a profit of more than 5 are Apple Pie (6) and Steak Meal (8). So I guess Apple Pie is actually good for farming, since the ingredients are easily obtained and it can be craftet fast.
- Beverages (Coffee, Tea and Potions) are only for personal requirements, do not sell.
- Same goes for Cooked Meat, except Steak Meal. But you shuld probably eat that.
- Pasta is selling for less than bread, so recipes including pasta are not worth the effort.
- Selling Tomato Sauce is a rip-off. Recipes including Pasta and Sauce are worst for selling, the character is most likely not an italian chef.
Thank you!
I hope this could help you a little bit, if only for the sake of knowing the price of an item before running to the vendor. π
If you want to play with the values yourself, the table can be found here:
Lantern Forge: Food Table[docs.google.com]
On the second page there is a description on how to use the sorting filters without having to copy the whole document.
If you find any typos in the table, a major mistake in my calculation or have another useful tip about food in LF, please tell me and I will work on it.
Please kindly overlook grammar mistakes or simply comment on them in a nice manner, as I am not a native speaker.
Thank you for reading and have a nice day. π
