Full Baldi’s Basics Plus Guide (v.0.3.4)

Overview

This guide will teach you strategies for avoiding the characters, descriptions of characters, and descriptions of all the items found in Baldi’s Basics Plus. Now updated to 0.3.4 as of 3:46 PM on July 4th, 2021.

Introduction

Welcome to the Baldi’s Basics Plus full guide! This guide, as said in the description, will describe the items and characters as well as strategies for avoiding the characters. This guide will go over achievements when they are added later in development. However, this guide will not go over strategies for beating the game. You can check out a guide to help with that here. Part 2 of this guide can be found here. One more thing, I’m not the developer.

Main Characters #1

Baldi

Baldi is the main character of Baldi’s Basics Plus. He will start out by staring at you constantly, and he will count from 10 to 0, then he will say “Ready or not, here I come!”, and then start chasing you. You will know when he is chasing you when the music stops and you hear slapping. He will begin to move around the school and when he hears or sees you, he will continue to chase you until you leave his line of sight. Opening doors, getting sent to detention, or getting an answer wrong on the Math Machine will alert him to your position. Triggering Chalkles, being late to Mrs. Pomp’s class, or being teleported by Arts and Crafters will also alert Baldi to your position. You will know he is coming when you see his face appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. If his face looks confused, he hears the noise but is unsure what noise was coming from. If his face looks happy, he knows what sound was coming from. He will speed up based on how many notebooks you have gathered. When going on a field trip, be warned because when you get back Baldi will still be in his position that he was in before you got on the bus. Using the phone, the alarm clock, or Baldi’s Least Favorite Tape will distract Baldi. Baldi’s birthday is June 3rd and he is 29 years old. All you need to do to avoid him it to, well, avoid him. Don’t get caught by Baldi and you should be all fine. Answering a question right on the Math Machine will temporarily disable Baldi, meaning if he is close to you, that could potentially save your run.

The Principal of the Thing

The Principal of the Thing will move around the school when Baldi starts chasing you. He will send you to detention if you break the rules, which will also alert Baldi to your location. If you run in the halls, use the BSODA or Zesty bar, enter a faculty only room, leave detention before the timer is up and he sees you, you will be sent to detention. The timer starts at 15 seconds but will increase by 5 seconds every time you are sent to detention. All you need to do is don’t break the rules while the Principal is watching. There will be posters in the halls displaying all the school rules.

Beans

Beans is a character with a massive chin. He will wander around the halls and if he sees the player, he will ask them to watch him. If you do, nothing happens! If you look at him or not, he will spit gum in your direction. If you are hit by the gum, you will be slowed down for a short period of time. The edges of your screen will be covered in a pink wavy texture, to represent the gum surrounding you. However, Beans can be used to your advantage. His gum will affect anyone it touches, meaning it can slow down Baldi, the Principal, and all other characters. The gum does not affect the Bully or Chalkles. The Safety Scissors can be used to cut Beans’ gum and save you from a lifetime of washing chewed gum out of your hair. He says that if he is caught chewing gum, he will be sent to detention, but that isn’t in the game. To avoid Beans, simply not get hit by his gum. You can avoid it by entering a room, turning into another hallway, as long as the gum doesn’t touch you, you are fine.

Main Characters #2

It’s a Bully

It’s a Bully will appear in a random hallway blocking the way. He will stand there until he is sent to detention by the Principal, you give him an item, or he naturally despawns. If you have items and you run into the Bully, he will take one random item from your inventory then disappear. If you have no items and run into him, he will not let you pass and he acts like a wall until you either give him an item or he despawns. The easiest way to avoid him is to go another way around him, however, this isn’t always an option. If you are being chased by Baldi, you can either give in and give the Bully an item, or accept your fate. If you are lucky, the Principal will send him to detention or he despawns. He will say “I’m bored…” when he despawns.

Gotta Sweep

This 6 foot broom will stay in his closet for the majority of the floor. However, he will occasionally come out and yell out “LOOKS LIKE IT’S SWEEPIN’ TIME!“. After saying this, he will begin to move around the school very fast and will pick up any NPC in his way. If he hits you, you will be moved very fast but you will eventually phase through him. This is not a bug. He can also pick up any of the characters, meaning if you are being chased by Baldi or the Principal, he can swoop (or should I say, sweep?) in and rescue you. He is not a bad character, he is actually quite helpful, but he can sweep Baldi right to you. To avoid him, just stay out of his way.

Arts and Crafters

Arts and Crafters is a big sock puppet that will hang out in the corner of hallways. Approaching him will cause him to run away. However, when you have collected every notebook on the current floor, he will charge at you while making a LOUD static noise. He will then start spinning around you, spawning multiple others to spawn and spin around you until you are teleported away. You will then be teleported between Baldi and an elevator. HEADPHONE WARNING! Arts and Crafters’ static noise is very loud. It can cause ear damage if listened to for too long. I recommend turning your volume down or taking off your headphones entirely while he is making the noise.

Main Characters #3

Yes, there are a lot of characters in Baldi’s Basics Plus…

1st Prize

HE’S BACK! 1st Prize is back in Baldi’s Basics Plus! He acts the same as in Classic, he will charge at you if he spots you and push you down a hallway. He turns very slowly, but he can be used to get out of sticky situations. He can be disabled for a short amount of time by using the Safety Scissors on him, and using multiple scissors on him will stun him for a longer period of time! He can also push other characters into you too, so watch out for that.

Playtime

Playtime is a small girl with a jump rope and a bad hair day. She will move around the school and if you are seen by her, she will chase you. When caught, you will be put into a minigame. You must press the spacebar to jump over the jump rope. Note that the game isn’t paused, meaning Baldi can still catch you. The Principal can interrupt this minigame by sending you to detention. Gotta Sweep can also interrupt the minigame. You can use the Safety Scissors to cut her rope, but that makes her sad. You can avoid her by staying out of her sight, completing the minigame, dying, cutting her rope, or hiding in a locker. You can get 25 You Thought Points for completing the minigame perfectly, but the reward drops by 5 points each time you mess up.

Mrs. Pomp

Finally, some new characters! Wait, we had Beans… Oh well. Mrs. Pomp is that abomination to the left of this text. She will stomp around the school and if she sees you, she will rush to you and tell you that you have 4 minutes to get to her class. Holding TAB or pressing M by default will open your map, so you can check where her class is. She will be jumping in a room on the map with a timer below her. That is the room you need to go to. When you arrive on time, she will say “Just in time!” and shortly after, “Class dismissed!”. After she says that, you are free to grab the notebook if it is in there and head on out. If you are late, the next room you enter, she will stand outside the door and begin screaming and if you aren’t in her classroom, she will carry you to her room, where she will begin stomping around and screaming for about 15 seconds. Chalkles can also spawn. While you are frozen in place, you can use the Dangerous Teleporter or the Grappling Hook to escape her room early. God, just, don’t be late. I’m begging you, don’t be late.

Main Characters #4

Chalkles

This monstrosity will hangout in most classrooms on a chalkboard. It will start to make a warbling sound when it is appearing. You will have 15 seconds to get in and out before Chalkles locks the doors and begins to spin around the room, this alerts Baldi, who can enter the room. He will stay for at least 25 seconds, 15 of which he spends spinning around the room. He then ascends into the ceiling and after 10 seconds, you can leave. You can leave early by getting sent to detention, leaving during the flood event, using the keys, using the Dangerous Teleporter, being teleported by Arts and Crafters, or using the Portal Poster. The easiest way to avoid him is to simply not stay in the room he is in for 15 seconds.

Cloudy Copter

This cloud will fly around the school. If he is spotted, he will begin to blow a strong wind down a hallway. This hallway makes everyone move slower, unless they are moving with the wind. Cloudy Copter otherwise poses no threat unless in the Camping field trip, where he will try to blow out the campfire. Similar to Gotta Sweep, he can be a big help, but he can also get you killed just as easily. The Big Ol’ Boots can be used to pass through his wind without being affected.

Dr. Reflex

Because he is not in the game, there is no picture of him.
Dr. Reflex is an upcoming character in the game. His name is still pending, but the current placeholder name is Dr. Reflex. He is not in the game yet, but it is confirmed that it will be a minigame. He will follow you until he gets close enough then he will teleport to a room with you. He will give you a reflex test where you need to press the displayed input quickly. If you are too slow or you press the wrong button, he will be unhappy and the challenge will start over again.

Main Characters #5

The Test

God, what is this thing? This… thing will rarely appear at a hallway at random. Once you spot him, there will be a 5 second timer to get the hell away from him. Once the timer is finished, he gains the ability to move. The Test acts like SCP-173 or the Weeping Angels, he can only move when you are not looking at him. If he makes contact with you, his body will disappear and his head will be floating there. The entire school will go dark and ambience will play. After 2 minutes, the darkness will go away and The Test’s head will return to his body. Be warned, when entering a room to escape him, he will not move from his position. While The Test is in your sight, the lights will flicker and music will play, while all other characters freeze in place. To avoid him, don’t look away from him and get out of his line of sight. He is most common on the seeds 123456789, 666, 0, and 454843909 in Endless Mode.

TimTom

Because TimTom is not in the game yet, there is no picture of him.
TimTom has no information revealed other than he is a child that might have a red shirt, blue pants, and brown short hairs.

Johnny

Johnny is a character that will appear in the elevator and he acts like a shop. You get “You Thought Points”, and spend them at the store to get useful items! You can purchase many items for different amounts, a map, which will fill out your map for that floor, and another item which hasn’t been put in the game yet, but it might be used to eliminate someone from the rest of your run.

Easter Egg Characters

0th Prize

He is only seen in Baldi’s Basics Birthday Bash. He is found in the glitched school at the end of the game.

PlaceFace

PlaceFace is only found in the Classic game, the Field Trip demo, and the Birthday Bash. In the Classic game, inputting 31718 into the You Can Think Pad would teleport you to a room with PlaceFace in it. In the Field Trip demo, clipping out of the map in the intro, looking at the door, you can see PlaceFace’s eyes in the windows along with two NO signs to the right and left of the door.
In Birthday Bash, in the Glitched School, PlaceFace can be seen in one of the rooms with multiple Playtimes.

Corrupted Characters

Filename2

Filename2 is a corrupted character in the Classic version but is hidden in Baldi’s Basics Plus (which is the game this guide is supposed to be going over!) He breaks the fourth wall, and is aware of how and why he is in the game. However, some of what he says is classified and so it is censored. Filename2’s goal is to encourage the Player to destroy the game.

SpoopBalloons

There are multiple versions, but I just uploaded the Purple version to save on space.
SpoopBalloons are located in the Birthday Bash game, they are glitched versions of Baldi. They have no effect on the Player, but they make a spooky noise.

Items #1

BSODA

BSODA is an item used to push back characters. Chalkles and the Bully are not pushed by BSODA. They are found by using a quarter on the blue vending machines, completing the field trips, or in faculty rooms.

Energy Flavored Zesty Bar

This candy bar is an item used to maximize sprint and give you infinite sprint for a few seconds. They can be found by using a quarter on the orange vending machines or found in the cafeteria, completing the field trips, or rarely in the faculty rooms.

Quarter

The quarter is an item used use vending machines, pay doors, or the phone. They are the most common item and are found in the hallways, faculty rooms, or classrooms.

Principal’s Keys

The Principal’s Keys are an item used to get through locked doors or escaping detention early.
The keys are only found rarely in faculty rooms, but I have found them in the classrooms.

Safety Scissors

The Safety Scissors are an item used to cut Beans’ gum or Playtime’s jump rope. They are found in the classrooms.

Alarm Clock

The Alarm Clock is an item used to distract Baldi. It can be found in classrooms and faculty rooms.

Items #2

An Apple for Baldi

The Apple is an item used to stop Baldi in place for 15 seconds. The Apple has a chance of spawning on a tree in the playground and the Grappling Hook must be used to get it, the Apple could spawn in the Principal’s Office during the party, or it could be a reward for the field trip.

Baldi’s Least Favorite Tape

The Tape can be used on the Tape Player to deter Baldi from the Player for a short amount of time. It can be found only in the faculty rooms, or a reward from the field trip.

Big Ol’ Boots

The Boots can be used to pass through Gotta Sweep, 1st Prize, Cloudy Copter, and conveyor belts. They can be found in classrooms.

Dangerous Teleporter

The Dangerous Teleporter is an item allowing the Player to randomly teleport around the school rapidly, eventually leaving the Player in a random location. It can be found very rarely in the Mystery Room.

Dirty Chalk Eraser

The Dirty Chalk Eraser is used to prevent Baldi, the Principal, Playtime, or Arts and Crafters from seeing you. However, the characters can move through the cloud and see you. It can be found in the faculty rooms and classrooms.

Faculty Nametag

The Faculty Nametag can be used to prevent the Principal sending you to detention, Mrs. Pomp inviting you to class, the Bully from taking an item, Playtime from playing with you, Arts and Crafters from charging, Beans spitting gum at you, and Chalkles from spawning. The Faculty Nametag can be found in faculty rooms and the Library.

Items #3

Grappling Hook

The Grappling Hook allows the Player to shoot a grapple to a nearby wall and begin to move towards it, speeding up as time goes on. It can also be used to get the Apple from the tree, if it spawns there. The Grappling Hook can be found in faculty rooms, the Principal’s Office during the party, the Mystery Room, or from completing the field trip. It can be used 5 times before it is used up.

Portal Poster

The Portal Poster can be put on a wall bordering a room or hallway and can be passed through by the Player. NPCs can now go through this, as of 0.3.3. It can be found in faculty rooms.

Principal Whistle

The Principal Whistle can be used to call the Principal to your location. It can rarely be found in faculty rooms.

Swinging Door Lock

The Door Lock can be used on any yellow swinging door to prevent anyone from going through it. It can be found in faculty rooms.

WD-NoSquee

The WD-NoSquee spray can make any door silent. The door sprayed with WD-NoSquee can be opened and closed four times before the effect wears off. It can be found in faculty rooms and the Janitor’s Closet.

You Thought Points

Not really an item, but it is very helpful. You Thought Points (or YTPs) can be used to purchase goods in Johnny’s Store. You can get YTPs by going to Mrs. Pomp’s class, getting a notebook, answering a question correctly on the Math Machine, playing jump rope with Playtime, doing well in the field trips, or getting a good grade for that floor. You lose YTPs by getting an answer wrong on the Math Machine, or getting caught by Baldi, which you will lose all the YTPs you earned on that floor.

Objective Items

Firewood

Firewood is only found in the camping field trip. It is used to prevent the fire from burning out.

Notebooks

The Notebooks are the primary collectible in Baldi’s Basics Plus. They can be found in the classrooms. You get 10 You Thought Points by collecting one. They are even different colors!

Locations

Classrooms

The Classrooms are the most common rooms in the game. They contain useful items and one notebook or Math Machine.

Faculty Rooms

The Faculty Rooms are rooms designed for school faculty only. They contain useful items and tickets to the Principal’s Office if you are caught in one.

Hallway

The Hallways are the “rooms” connecting everything. You spend most of your time here. All the characters spawn and usually stay in the Hallways.

Janitor’s Closet

The small room where Gotta Sweep spawns and stays while he is not sweeping. A can of WD-NoSquee can be often found in here.

Outdoor Area

This is the area the bus is held in. Approaching the bus with Baldi standing outside it will trigger a loading screen where you will be taken to the farm or the campsite, depending on what Baldi is wearing.

Principal’s Office

The Principal’s Office is where the Principal of the Thing spawns. This is where detention is, and this is where the party event is held.

Cafeteria

The Cafeteria is a big room with tables and multiple food items and vending machines.

The Library

The Library is a maze of books where every sound is muted. Multiple items can be found in here, but no notebooks.

The Playground

The Playground is a large outdoor area with trees. The Player has infinite sprint and the Principal will not send you to detention if he catches you running in the Playground. The Apple can rarely be found on one of the trees.

Johnny’s Store

Johnny’s Store is a location that can only appear in the elevator before starting a level. It can be used to purchase items to help you in the game. You can purchase a map, which will fill out your entire map for that floor.

Finish

Finally, this guide is done. However, everything is not listed here. I will be making a Part 2 to overview the different events, structures, and everything else in Baldi’s Basics Plus. This guide took about 8 hours to get information, download pictures, type the information, and verify that it all looked as intended. Be on the lookout for Part 2 of the Full Baldi’s Basics Plus Guide!
