Full Comprehensive Guide to Raft!

Overview

This guide includes everything you will ever need to know about Raft. Tired of being the shark’s b**ch, and you want to fight back?Wanna know basic and advanced crafting techniques?Don’t know how to use the Research Table, or the antenae? I’ll show you!

The Basics

Movement Basics
I’m gonna skip past the easy basics because I have hope that if you’ve got this far, you don’t need to be told how to walk or throw your hook to get trash

Deciding your difficulty

Easy – Shark does less dsamage, food and water deplete at a lower rate, and you can respawn

Normal – Shark does average damage, food and water deplete at an average rate, and you can respawn

Hard – Shark does 1/4 damage to your health with every bite, food and water are a constant concern, and you can not respawn without a someone you’re playing with gathering your body and putting it in a bed.

First things to do

Learn how to use the hook – I will tell you that you need to lead your targets, throw ahead of what ever you want to grab. Aim higher up to throw further. And no, the hook does no damage to the shark or seagulls, and needs to be used to collect underwater resources.

Get Water – First craft a cup, next craft a simple purifier, then fill it with Saltwater and fill the purifier, put planks in it and wait for it to cook into fresh water

Get Food – Make a Simple Grill, put planks in it, find Potatos or beets in barrels or cook some fish

FISH – Craft a Fishing Rod (6 planks, 8 ropes) and click to pull in the fish when it snags

How to survive

Food

Basic Grill: uses planks to cook small veggies and small fish one at a time
Advanced Grill: uses planks to cook multiple small veggies and small fish at a time, or one large fish. Large fish can only be cooked on the Large Grill

Water

Basic Water purifier: uses planks to cook salt water into fresh water, which you and your crops need to survive.
Advanced Water purifier: DOES NOT use use planks, uses the sunlight to purify salt water into fresh water.

How to kill the Shark

Get a spear, doesn’t have to be Metal, Wooden works just fine. Make sure you don’t jump straight into his mouth, by spotting him before you jump in the water. Swim at the shark and when the Shark open’s its mouth, you swing your spear and you’ll damage him without taking any damage yourself. As its shown in the video (of me, with my buddies)

What tools are used for: (my descriptions)

Building Hammer: MOST important tool, because you can only expand your raft with this tool, and build other things, like stairs, fences and walls. (right click to get other options, left click to place that option)

Axe: NOT for killing the shark (some youtubers and streamers are CRINGE worthy because they think swinging an axe at a shark will do something) ONLY for cutting down trees, and destroying parts of you raft- which gives you half your wood back.

Spear: Used for poking things to death, like seagulls, sharks and pesky human players who annoy you. (if pvp is turned on)

Fishing pole: Getting fish to eat, shoes to grow 1 small crop in, and other nicknacks to decorate your raft with. (simply click when the line is snagged)

Cup: used to drink fresh water and fill the purifiers with salt water

Paddle: used to steer your raft, moves raft towards the direction you are paddling.

Floating Materials

Cmon, I don’t need to tell you that Wooden planks, plastic and leaves are found floating in the water and basically are required to do anything in this game. I trust that you already know about that.

Collecting Materials, what its used for and where to find it:

Metal Ore: medium deepness, on the sides of the island, underwater. Used for crafting

Sand: low deepness, underwater, found immediately underwater. Used to make Wet bricks, which later turn into dry bricks.

Clay: low deepness, underwater, found immediately underwater. Used to make Wet bricks, which later turn into dry bricks.

Scrap: low deepness, underwater, found immediately underwater. Used for crafting

Seaweed: low deepness, underwater, found immediately underwater. Used to smelt into Vine Goo, which is then used for crafting.

Research, and how to do it

How To Research:
Put any item in the slot, doesn’t matter. Plank, Scrap, Plastic- it doesn’t matter, then click “research”. YOU WILL LOSE THIS ITEM. But its worth it too learn better things you can craft. Besides decorations, literally everything that can be improved but ONLY through the Research Table.

What Everything is for: (game descriptions)

(WIP)

Paint Mill

What its used for: painting your raft

How its used: as you sail, you churn up flowers to make dyes, which when combined with your paint brush can paint your raft

Crop Plots

(WIP)
Small Crop Plot
3 slots, can only hold beets and potatos

Medium Crop Plot
2 slots but can grow small veggies plus Pineapples and Watermelons

Large Crop Plot
1 slot but can grow trees

ETC.

Small storage 8 slots

Storage (bigger) 16 slots

What to look for while sailing

(WIP)

Islands: Islands carry good stuff on them, storage bins that have random stuff, trees with free stationary wood to collect, with fruit (pineapples, mangos and watermelons) to eat, and flowers to eventually paint your raft (see Paint Mill)

Barrels: Barrels are floating along, waiting to be scooped up, they carry random good loot

Other Rafts: Other rafts have only 1 storage loot that has random goodies within it. But the danger is, other rafts begin to sink the second you set foot on them.

Under deh Sea: Darling its better, down where its wetter, take it from me. Under deh sea you will find Metal Ore, Copper Ore, Seaweed, Scrap, Stones, Clay and Sand. (but near islands)

Secret Achievements

Exploring the Depths!: Reach a depth of 100 meters below the surface (basically dive as deep as you can)

An Ocean Cemetery!: Die 25 Times

This Goes Here!: Break or pickup 100 blocks

Is there a Utopia?: Find the Whiteboard in the Radio Station

Endgame

The 3 things you need:
– Antennae (x3)
– Battery
– Receiver

Basically you make 3 Antennae, and scatter them about your raft, put the receiver somewhere (you’ll know if the Antennae are too close) and put the Battery in the Receiver. And Sail your raft towards to the goal to reach the Endgame. (Oil rig) Which you then need to navigate up to reach the white board at the top of the oil rig.

Exploits/ Cheats:

I feel Bad posting this, but the devs should get rid of it soon. So all you do is just remove flippers and your oxygen bottle from the inventory slot once they’ve taken durability damage, and put them back on to reset their durability.
