Overview
A guide to try and help some users who have had issues getting the game into full screen mode and/or issues with running it in 1920×1080.
Brief
Have you recently bought this game and you have being having issues with the game while saying it supports 1080P but while in-game it wont go as high as 1920×1080 resolution or decides on giving you errors or issues related to selecting the full screen toggle?
Give this guide a try and hopefully it works for you like it did for me.
Errors Encountered
So some of the errors you might have encountered have been like me originally have been maximum locked window resolution like this.
This is running windowed on a desktop resolution of 1920×1080 and is the maximum possible, following on from that another error you might have encountered when you have tried to enter full screen mode ether by using in game toggle or editing Neptune.ini config file is this following image.
This is from a Nvidia GeForce GTX560ti graphics card running latest drivers connected via HDMI to monitor and all settings in Nvidia Control Panel are default.
So lets get this fixed then 🙂
How to fix issues
So on to fixing this then 🙂
From the last section I run a Nvidia GTX560ti graphics card with latest drivers on a 1080P / 1920×1080 monitor via HDMI so no issues there I run Windows 8.1 64bit as my Operating System with my Steam library installed on another hard drive to OS which makes no difference anyway.
The first step in fixing this is going to your Steam library folder while this will vary per user this is my location.
E:SteamLibrarySteamAppscommonNeptunia Rebirth1
The common location will be
C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonNeptunia Rebirth1
for most users so head to your Steam library folder and open up the Neptunia one.
Now right click on NeptuniaReBirth1.exe and select properties then navigate to compatability tab and select the following option.
Finally click on apply and launch the game from the normal method you like to use.
Navigate over to config then video options in-game and you should be able to run it in windowed mode up to 1920×1080 & possibly higher but havent gone 4k monitor yet so can’t try it but that’s not the main reason for this guide 🙂 so toggle the full screen option to “On” exit out and don’t forget to accept and change settings.
Now hopefully your game like mine is running in lovely 1080P in full screen at 60fps.
Conclusion
So hopefully after following this short guide your now able to play Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 in full screen and in your native resolution of your monitor.
While you might be wondering “how does that work I havent changed my DPI or anything yet can play everything else fine?”
My DPI is set to normal on my computer so that’s not causing issues.
For people who don’t know the DPI setting can make text and icons larger as an accessibility feature for some users who have trouble reading smaller text and can be changed by right clicking desktop selecting resolution and finally selecting the link called “make text and other items larger or smaller”
This issue is with the game engine itself and while this issue could be for a small percentage of users it still tends to be annoying if similar issues like this are in other games try this fix and hopefully it works.
In conclusion hopefully this guide has managed to help you in some way and your now playing the game in full screen and native resolution.
Happy gaming & enjoy the game 😀
>>Edit 15/12/2017<<
Latest Windows 10 update has changed the labeling of the high DPI option so the option now would be to select,
Override high DPI scaling behaviour. Scaling performed by ether selecting application or system from the drop down.
Following the same steps previously in this guide, Application would be any scaling the actual game might be attempting and system would be overiding the DPI you have set for Windows under display properties.
Hopefully this all works fine for anyone asking I didnt even see the change Windows done so hopefully this should be the same as before just new names 😀
