Fun Console Commands

Overview

These commands actually do stuff!

Introduction

If you don’t know how to open the console, press this button: ` (On most keyboards it’s right next to 1)
Some of these commands need the following command to be typed:

  • sv_cheats 1

To disable those commands, use this one:

  • sv_cheats 0

The list

  • noclip – allows you to fly through walls
  • god – makes you invincible and lets you swim in acid
  • kill – kills you
  • crash – crashes the game
  • thirdperson – makes the game third person
  • firstperson – disables thirdperson
  • create_flashlight – creates a light
  • ent_create_portal_weighted_cube – creates a Weighted Storage Cube
  • ent_create_portal_weighted_sphere – creates a Edgeless Safety Cube
  • ent_create_portal_companion_cube – creates a Companion Cube
  • ent_create_portal_weighted_antique – creates a cube from 1956
  • ent_create_portal_reflector_cube – creates a Discouragement Redirection Cube
  • restart – restarts the level
  • exit – exits to the main menu
  • sv_portal_placement_never_fail 1 – Allows you to shoot portals anywhere
  • sv_portal_placement_never_fail 0 – Disables sv_portal_placement_never_fail 1
  • portal2_portal_width 72 – change the value 72 to change portal size
  • portal2_square_portals 1 – makes portals perfect circles
  • sv_gravity 600 – changes the gravity of players and gel
  • hideconsole – exits out of the console
  • fadein – makes the screen fade from black
  • fadeout – makes the screen fade to black
  • portal_paint_color 128 128 128 255 – changes the color of Conversion Gel, change the values
  • speed_paint_color 255 106 0 255 – same thing as the last one, but with a different gel
  • bounce_paint_color 0 165 255 255 – these only affect the on-screen splash when you get hit by the gel
    [*}map_(mp/sp)_(area)_(levelname) – used to enter any level. How to use: (mp/sp) mp=multiplayer map, sp=singleplayer map. (area) dictates what area: a1 – run-down Aperture, a2 – fixed Aperture, a3 – 1956 Aperture, a4 – Wheatly Labs, coop – Cooperative Testing Initiative levels. (levelname) you’ll just have to guess which one here, unless you memorize them all.
