Overview
Tired of SCREEN TEARING? Those tears tear your eyes so they BLEED??BEHOLD, Game Dashboard + Nvidia FastSync = Complete SMOOTHNESS all over your display with MINIMUM latency and your eyes will thank me later.(What is Screen Tearing? is it contagious?)Copied from Wikipedia:Screen tearing is a visual artifact in video display where a display device shows information from multiple frames in a single screen draw. The artifact occurs when the video feed to the device is not in sync with the display’s refresh rate. This can be due to non-matching refresh rates—in which case the tear line moves as the phase difference changes (with speed proportional to difference of frame rates). It can also occur simply from lack of sync between two equal frame rates, in which case the tear line is at a fixed location that corresponds to the phase difference
Introduction to SMOOTHNESS
Hi, i’m Jushi, i’m currently beta-testing Game Dashboard App which is coming to Steam Store SOON!
Check it out here: [link]
this tutorial will show you how to Smooth out fps to very steady framerate and smooth those frametimes AND get rid of that awful SCREEN TEARING!
This is applicable also for AMD GPU’s (called Enhanced Sync) even though on this tutorial i will use Nvidia’s Fast Sync method of vsync.
Nvidia Control Panel and Fast Sync
1.Right-click first the desktop and then open up Nvidia Control Panel.
2.From there, find advanced 3D settings.
3.Find line named ” Vsync”
4.Choose “Fast” from the drop-down menu.
NOTICE! this will enable fast sync on ALL games Globally. you can also enable it per-game-profile-basis if you wish.
5.Hit “Apply” or “Ok” button. Done!
Welcome the Smoothness!
1.Now, just start Game Dashboard.
2.start your favorite game and hit Ctrl + F12 to enable any informative overlays you wish.
3.set your Fps limiter to 60.000Hz
4.Hit Ctrl + F12 again to hide Game Dashboard UI.
Misc Technical Information
What is Fast Sync?
Rolling out with Pascal GPU is a new v-sync mode that NVIDIA is calling Fast Sync, and it is designed to offer yet another way to reduce input lag while maintaining v-sync.
It does not limit your FPS like traditional Vsync does. also the input lag is minimal with Fast Sync when compared to Old School Vsync.
What is AMD’s equilevant method of Fast Sync?
Yes! it is called Enhanced Sync, pretty much the same thing as Fast Sync on Nvidia.
Other info:
I might add some pictures to clarify the Usage of Fast Sync process, or even a quick tutorial video if needed. i added very short video showing the nvidia control panel setting.
I will most likely add some technical details on how this will smooth out your frametimes while reducing and optimizing input lag to minimum.
If you need to contact me for any questions, just add me on steam, you can find with name “Jushi”.
