Overview
This guide introduces the procedures for adding and editing Waypoints in GameGuru.
Waypoint creation and editing
This guide aims to walk new users through the basic of creating a waypoint in GameGuru. Waypoints are set paths that a character will navigate. Many of the existing characters that are supplied with GameGuru will follow waypoints automatically if they are close enough, only breaking off when they see or hear the player.
– To create a waypoint, press the Create New Waypoint Icon in the tool bar.
Notice that a Star appears in the center of the view port. This is the first node is your waypoint chain.
With the Left Mouse Button (LMB), Click + Drag the node to the desired start point.
You can add additional nodes (appearing as a smaller star by pressing Shift + LMB on any other nodes)
Continue this till you have your waypoint path laid out.
If you need to move a node, Hold LMB on the desired one and drag it to where you want.
To remove a node, Shift + Right Mouse Button (RMB).
To remove the whole Waypoint path, Shift + RMB on the larger start node.
When you fill up your level and need to edit points, you may encounter that an object might be in the way.
– You can prevent entities from being selected by choosing the Waypoint Editing Mode (P) Icon in the Tool Bar. This filters entities from the selection process and you can then edit using the same procedure outlined above.
Watch your character walk.
Place a character or characters by either the Start node or one of the others in the chain and run test game – .
The character will be following the path of the waypoint.
