Manga and Licensing

Manga
In real-world Anime’s are made to push manga’s popularity and its sales. AST follows the same rule. Manga market in-game is simulated. The author is the most important part of the manga. Every week new manga’s published or some even go on hiatus it depends on Author’s personality. His hiatus time is also co-related to that. When manga is on hiatus and doesn’t have enough content you cant make anime on it. If Anime on certain Manga became popular it will boost its sale. This is the major part of the source of income for any company. In-game it is shown by domestic income.

Licensing
If your reputation is low there is tiny chance of getting a license. For manga’s with A+ rating, your reputation should be at least 4Star. Also the NA status comes up if anime is already in development for certain manga. Max royalty you will get is 15%(From manga sales) also you need to pay upfront money which depends upon the rating of the manga.

Investor

Investor can fund your project if you are short of the money. Or generally, as anime is high-risk product companies come together and form Production committee to reduce loss. While negotiating with investor’s you can make suggest them certain per cent from total cost you want them to cover.
Note that in early-stage even if you give investor 100% royalty from internet section or from Live Ent section he will refuse because those segments worth little compare to Merchandise or Manga sales. Internet will get evolved from end 1990s. You can check if the current market share of each segment in the market section.

Market Simulation

Anime market was around $19bn in 2019. To make the game more realistic I tried to make the same market cap. When you start in 1980 market segments like the Internet, Live Ent is non-existant so most of the income you will get via Merch sales or DVD sales throughout years Market cap for foreign income will increase tremendously. Mostly after 1995 so income from those countries will increase. It is particularly helpful while making the decision of releasing anime in different countries for Ex Distributing it in China before 2000 is a mistake but after 2008 china’s market will boom. An important factor to consider is to see growth ratio in market column.

Employee Management

Employees with good morale works faster and dont ask for raise.
In finance panel there’s company policy option. You can set yearly raise for employees, average work hours and vacation. If you increase time then employees will finish their work fast but it will also reduce their morale. Keeping things balance between all three settings is important.
In complaint section you can check their complaints about office quality l, if there morale decreases too much they will ask for raise.
There are three types of complaints

  • Utility Items
  • Basic needs Items
  • Items where you can have fun or relax

.Utility items are like photocopier, fax machine, water cooler etc
Toilets, vending machines comes into needs category.
Sofa, chair, arcade machine etc comes under relax items part.

Review Algorithm

You can also check the detail section on review to get better information about the review score.

Topic: Genre/Topic combo is important, Some genres are more suited to some topics ex: Action=Isekai/Mecha but Action= Dance/Business is a bad combination, For best combo, you’ll get +5 for the bad combo you’ll get 0, to -5. Weightage is 5 points.

Scale: If your scale is Medium if you don’t use graphics room first feature and sound room’s first feature you’ll get -2 each, In case of Big scale if you didn’t use first 3 feature from sound and graphic room, you’ll get -1,-2,-3 and -1,-2,-3. In Movie it is same but all options from motion studio are also necessary to use. If you’re making OVA you’ll get +2, for medium +5,+7 big,+10 movie.

+++ = 65+
++ = 45-65
+ = 30-45
– = 20-30
— = 10-20
— = 0-10

Director: Creativity is important you’ll get max 5 points from it basically employees creativity/20, for animator value is drawing/20. So a total of 10 points for both of them.

Source: Basically mangas review/20. So manga reviews are shown as A+/A/B+ etc. Their actual values are when.
A+: review greater than 85.
A: 85-75
B+:75-70
B:70-65
C+:65-55
C:55-45
D: less than 45

Now if you use any feature from graphics, music, motion room you’ll get +1,+2 ,+3,+4 points based upon their order each.

Storyboard: There are no negative points here for every correct guess you’ll get +5 ppints for example in Action priority order is World building-Characters-Sound, Adventure =Story-CharacterDialogue, Comedy= Character-Story-Dialogue etc.

For the research level, it goes review -= 60-research level. Negative values are capped according to scale like 25 for OVA, 35 for Medium,45 for Big.

Now the last one is genre experience based upon difficulty setting and the current year it adds certain points in the review.

In detail, section weightage is shown, based upon how anime fares in certain segment.
