General Achievement Guide! [ENG]

Overview

This guide will show you how to get all the achievements in Cortex Command, it’s fairly simple, but there are some achievements which are incorrectly described – so this is just to make things clearer, I’ll also be writing how I got them, although my methods were probably unorthodox and dumb luck.

Achievement 1: These guys are awesome! [workshop]

FIRST THINGS FIRST: In order to spare you the extra trouble of firing it up multiple times, this achievement requires of you to subscribe to at least 5 workshop mods. Yeah, I know, this isn’t something which requires a guide for you, but while it’s here, might as well get some recommendations, right?
Personally, I chose anything I could find, so Grand Army of the Republic, New World Industries, Warhammer, CIS Droids, Dummy revampered and so on, and so forth. You’ll probably get a different selection, there’s tons to choose from, check it out!

Achievement 2: Hello there!

This is probably the most complicated achievement in this entire damn game. It takes guts to do what this achievement dares you. Not for the weak-hearted ones.

START THE GAME.

Okay, that didn’t give you a heart attack? You’re still good? Good, then let’s move on.

Achievement 3: So that’s what it’s about

Just don’t skip the intro cutscene when you load in, and this achievement should pop in.
For that one guy who desperately tried to skip: Space, ESC, and/or enter should work. If it doesn’t, alt-tab out and in and then try it.
Now go ahead, and change that review to recommended.

Achievement 4: Aren’t you clever?

There are two buttons which will lead you to the tutorial mission: Campaign will instantly ask you to do the tutorial mission to get the basics of things – Scenario will get you to a list of available scenarios for you to do – the default one being the Tutorial Mission.

Personally, this tutorial isn’t much, you’ll get a lot more of the basics in general gameplay. Not to say that the tutorial is bad, I just think it knows more than it’s letting you in on.

Before you do cross the line to invade the other base, buy some dummies and weapons for yourself. A dummy with a riot shield (Ronin) and a blaster (Dummy) should do just fine.

Achievement 5: Look Sir, Free Crabs!

While you’re at the tutorial mission, create a preset with 10 crabs. This has to be exactly 10 crabs, ney more, ney less. Nothing else besides the 10 crabs should be in the preset. It doesn’t matter in what craft it arrives in, just place 10 crabs (They can be find under the Actors tab), save the preset and boom, achievement get.

(Secret)Achievement 6: Look Sir, Free– OH GOD NO!

UNLEASH THE WRATH OF YOUR CRAB ARMY UPON YOUR FOES, AND WREAK HAVOC AND DESTRUCTION TO ANY THAT FATHOM STANDING IN YOUR WAY.
Create a preset with EXACTLY 500 crabs and deliever the crabs with a drop crate or something.

Download this text file.[vk.com] This is a simple txt file called “free_crabs_500_exactly.txt”

Default path: C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonCortex Command/Base.rte/Loadouts.ini Or, if you have it installed to the other disk: …Steam LibrarysteamappscommonCortex Command/Base.rte/Loadouts.ini

Alternatively, you can make your own loadout, go into the game, make a preset with 10 crabs and set the craft to drop crate. Then, go into the txt file with the same loadout you just made, and copy/paste the crab line until it reaches 500. Remember, no more, no less, exactly 500.

After this, go to the buy menu, scroll down until it starts to lag up.
Press on the preset, buy it, deliever it to the planet, aside from this achievement, you should
get one more:

Achievement 7: Technical Win

Lose a battle with less deaths than the victor.

To get this: look at the previous achievement, that’s how I got it.
Alternatively, the next achievement has a more ‘acceptable’ way to obtain it.

Achievement 8: Pyrrhic Victory

I think I got this by dumb luck. During a campaign, me and the enemy landed on the same spot. I had more funds than him so I had company arriving with my brain. The enemy’s brain shot my soldier dead, and my other people shot the enemy brain. And boom, achievement get.

The way YOU can do it easier, is to boot up a custom scenario or campaign – with two players. One goes for keyboard and mouse, the other keyboard only or whatever controls you wish. Player 1 buys a soldier, player 2 as a brain shoots him down. Then player 1 shoots player 2. Achievement get?

Or, you can be sensible and smart about this, load the tutorial level, buy some crabs, kill them then finish the tutorial. That works too. Thanks Spyanton!

Achievement 9: One Star General

Win the metagame – by this, they mean win the campaign.
This can be done on any difficulty, any number of players/AI, any settings. But we’re going to do it the cheap way anyway.

Set the game difficulty to EZ, as well as the AI skill. Set the amount of brains to 1. In your handicap, select +1 brain (and select -1 to your opponent just to be sure). Once you both deploy on planets, you will automatically be declared winner, considering you are the only one who is able to deploy more units. If you two end up on fighting on the same planet, then just kill the other guy and you’ll be declared winner.

Achievement 10: Disloyal Customer

Win a metagame using every tech. This does not mean “Win a campaign utilizing every tech from every faction”!!

What they meant by this is: Win a campaign as each of the factions/tech. So that means: Win a campaign with Coalition, win with Dummy, win with Ronin, win with Browncoat and so on and so forth. Basically, every official faction that is in the game. THIS DOES NOT COUNT WORKSHOP FACTIONS!

Do the same cheap trick as shown in the previous achievement, brain handicaps and EZ difficulty to avoid trouble.

Achievement 11: War Torn

Fight 999 battles.

This doesn’t mean you have to Fight and win/lose a battle. You can just start up the same tutorial scenario and it will count as a fought battle. So start up the tutorial 22 times (no need to finish it), and it will count as 22 battles.
Do that, and you’ll earn your way to the next level.

This is the InfoWars.

CONCLUSION

I’d like to thank azar9610 for his guide and txt file on the 500 crab loadout. I’d also like to thank the creators of Cortex Command for creating such a nice and fun game that’s filled with it’s own quirks and gimmicks. Thank you, my dudes.

That’s that for this guide. Tune in next time as we prove that the brain in cortex command is actually SANS – But hey, that’s just a theory

A GAY THEORY, THANKS FOR WATCHING
