Overview
The steam (updated) version of the expansion works good for multiplayer. All you need to do when using your virtual LAN provider (I use ZeroTier) is to make sure that the ports in Windows Firewall are not blocked. A good way to do this since there are so many ports needed (way more than what you would see if you googled the game) is to just open all ports for the Battlegrounds application.[Drive Letter]:SteamsteamappscommonSTAR WARS – Galactic Battlegrounds SagaGamebattlegrounds_x1.exeIf you have trouble with this approach for some reason then try temporarily disabling your public firewall just to confirm that you can see each other and then go from thereIf you need help setting up ZeroTier then I recommend finding a different guide for that, but it is really not difficult. Also, it is free so that is nice.
Additional – ZeroTier and Interface Metric
If you need help setting up ZeroTier then I recommend finding a different guide for that, but it is really not difficult. Also, it is free so that is nice.
One other thing that I am not sure if it matters (we did this from the get go) is setting your preferred LAN network to have an Interface metric value of 5
You do this by:
1. go to “Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork Connections”
2. select “Properties” for your preferred network (in my case it was my ZeroTier network)
3. double click your “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option
4. select “Advanced”
5. disable Automatic metric and set the Interface metric value to 5
