Need Ghalt? Need to lore Ghalt? Need to get a few kills as Ghalt? Need to Ghalt Ghalt Ghalt?Includes advanced Archive, Sabotuer and Heliophage guide.WELL THIS IS THE GUIDE FOR YOU!Some friends and I recently unlocked Galt and I have been playing him since. With this here guide you will know everything about this mysterious character and be able to unlock him like a trained professional!
Unlock Papa Ghalt – Advanced Story
First of all, you can only do advanced story missions in private matches. That means having or making friends. What I did here was just play some story missions online and ask if people wanna try and get Ghalt with you. If they are dubious, tell them about this guide to show them you are friggin legit.
Secondly, don’t be a ♥♥♥♥♥. Each mission takes at least half an hour, some nearly an hour and you will most likely have to try a few times for some of the tougher missions. There are 8 mission’s total
To get advanced you need to get as many points as possible, these points are pretty much exclusively found in chests and destructibles throughout a map. You also get points, from what i understand, from the time in which you complete a mission. This means get every chest and kill every minion as fast as possible in most cases.
To “ping” an area or enemy press “c”. This allows the entire team to focus on a single spooky enemy.
The three missions that will give you a frustration boner are in order The Archive, The Sabotuer and The Heliophage.
THE ARCHIVE
Suggested Battleborn:
At least one Miko just in case, this mission isn’t hard its just a tad tricky.
The thing with this map, and every map, is to get EVERY chest. EVERY SINGLE CHEST. The map is also very huge. very very big. You need to kill every enemy and get every chest and break every thing before you get to the point where you start escorting minions. You will need to build the turrets that cost 300 to break the shields around the area in order to get to the giant crystals and Varelsi and also get to a few more chests.
*Helpful hint* Head shots on varelsi do significantly more damage, it is well worth aiming for the head in order to kill them quickly. 1
Once the sentry unit stops for the first time, and you get to the second part of the map you should kill everything and stay away from the area directly around Melka in order to rpevent triggering the mission. Make sure you only buy the turrets that destroy the shields. These cost exactly 300. Dont buy anything else, drones or turrents or anything.
Once you have cleared this area of everything, go ahead and activate the mission, there should be a few chests around Melka as well so make sure you get them.
Now. *THIS IS THE HARD PART*.
The idea here is that you farm the enemies without completing the mission. It doesn’t matter if a few bots get through to complete the mission (you need a total of 20 to complete the mission, the bots come out in waves of 4 at a time). The path they take has 2 parts. You can experiment to see their path, but the idea is that you leave the enemies that are near to the end of the path and only kill the minions that are very close to the start of the path. This will take a long time. My group of 3 farmed until we hit 50, 000 before moving on with the mission. This landed us a gold star which is more than you need for Galt. I don’t know what is a safe amount but I have read that farming to 38, 000 lets you get about the 60, 000 mark with bonus points.
60, 000 seems to be the mark for silver. Bonus points are based on speed, enemies killed and so on.
THE SABOTUER
Suggested Battleborn
We had 3 players for this: 2 Thorn’s and 1 Oscar Mike.
This is the hardest of any mission simply because the last 2 waves of the last defense core are f*cking stupid and I believe is going to be patched in the future (?).
Basically, this mission is a breeze up until the 3rd defense point. You should be able to save all your shards up until this mission. I suggest not buying anything for the first defense point only 2 thumper turrets for the second defense point. Try to not buy any gear until you are very certain you have enough after having to buy the following for the final point:
There are two turret points on each side, both should be thumper turrets.
Each person should buy a repair drone.
EVERY trap should be a flash trap except for the 2 closest to the point. The two should be temporal traps. The flash traps stun and remove shields – the shields are the hardest and toughest parts about the Varelsi you see in wave 2 and 3.
Make sure you constantly have every trap operational, spam the area of effect abilities of Oscar Mike and Thorn.
Make sure you are aware of any Varelsi that spawn near the entry door, they are able to shoot the core from all the way back there and need to be dealt with. Also, small guys run at the core and chunk it SUPER hard, very easy to kill these little c*nts but be careful. Again make sure you get every chest, the map is fairly linear so it isn’t too hard.
THE HELIOPHAGE
Suggested Battleborn:
ISIC for damage
Miko for healing
Oscar Mike for damage, speed and ability to revive teammates while invisible.
Thorn for speed, jump height (Final boss has huge gaps that can be jumped by Thorn with her jump height augment) and damage.
This mission is a behemoth. First off, it is timed. It is also full of stupid corridors with chests that you need to get. You need to get every. Single. Chest. And there are ALOT. What we did was have ISIC and Miko dealing with most of the enemies while Thorn ran around getting most of the chests. Don’t be afraid of using your lives to respawn if your teammates cannot get to you easily. Speed is crucial.
Try and initiate the crystal drill things as fast as possible and clear the waves as fast as possible. The drills only take as long as it takes to kill all the enemies so kill them as fast as possible. Use pings and the minimap to help here.
The final boss features huge gaps that you are pretty much f*cking guaranteed to get knocked into. Try and revive but don’t die for trying. Rendain is the easiest part here. Kill his shield and move on to the other bosses while he f*cks off to the background.
Most of the bosses are fairly straight forward and are exactly as they were last time you beat them. There is a boss, i forget his name, that gets shielded by minions that walk around him. These guys aren’t too strong but are very difficult to kill conventionally. Melee them into the gaps and be done with it. At one point we had to build the 300 shard turrets (dont bother saving shards for this, you will have enough) to kill it. Build the turrets and let them deal with that boss while you kill the other boss.
Rendain himself isn’t too bad, it just takes a while to get to him. Kill his minions if you can, they don’t respawn too fast and can give you a breather once they are all gone and there is only one boss left. Don’t worry about using lives, we used a butt-load and still got gold. focus on the chests and you will be fine.
Galt Lore – Galt me in the Galt hole.
Galt’s Lore
It is fairly straight forward for the most part. Play vs mode and you will eventually finish most of them. If you are having difficulty with vs modes see the Galt vs section.
The only one that I had to put actual effort into was killing 100 jennerit enemies with his scrap trap.
For this mission, do The Renegade on normal. Get enemies low with shots to the feet (I avoid melee because it is often too strong and because it can crit unintentionally) before hooking them into a scrap trap and hoping it kills them. You will have to work for every kill. As soon as you finish the Lore challenge you can exit, but I have heard that it can sometimes stuff up and deny you the progress.
If you are having difficulties with the other challenges, most likely double kills and first kills, please check my VS section.
How to force Galt’s ideals and beliefs onto others.
Galt is slow, kinda big and easy to hit.
Stay fairly hidden in corridors and off the busiest routes. Don’t sit in lane, shoot from the sides if you want to kill minions. You are still quite effective at medium range.
Galt deals HUGE damage and shines the brightest in Incursion and Meltdown where he can camp an area and get people to come to him most of the time.
The general idea behind Galt is that you hook people into a scrap trap in order to land the 2 second stun, and while they are stunned deal a stupid amount of damage with your shotgun. Try and get crits if you can. This is unlikely to kill them unless you manage to shoot them a few times as they run away or you get a little help from a team member.
A good way to get first kills is to set up a trap or two, hook a relatively week enemy (an eldrid is perfect) into your trap/s and finish them off. A friend may be needed to whittle them down and then let you finish them off.
Shotgun Revolver
The shotgun revolver does a load of damage close range, and quite a lot at medium range. At longer ranges it can be annoying but doesn’t really do anything besides scare people a little bit. If you have shield penetration then it may be useful to pepper people to bring their health down, but I don’t recommend it. I recommend penetration, but not peppering from long range.
Hook
The hook does minimal damage. Spam this. Pulling people out of position can allow your team opportunities to get a kill, or can just bring someones health down low enough to kill them at a later time if they don’t heal up.
Besides from that, the hook is a tool you use to get people from A (where they want to be) to B (your big-d*ck trap) and shoot them a bunch
Scrap trap
A ridiculous ability that is at least a 2 second stun, and can give quite a bit of damage if the enemies stick around to fight after you have pulled them into it. If you stack two of these one close after the other, enemies who choose to fight after the initial stun and damage run forward to attack and get stunned again. This pretty much only works on melee Battleborn and is not too reliable of a tactic. I recommend putting the scrap traps in walkways that won’t be used by minions and hooking someone into your zone and killing them.
MELEE!!!!!!!!!!
*The baby is the enemy*
I don’t know why, but Galt has INSANELY fast melee speed. Damage is from what I can tell, same as most other Battleborn, but it is the fastest in the game easily. When you run out of ammo, or when you manage to get a melee hero in a corner just spam them with this and bingo, they’re dead. Also, if you are with someone else and are facing a high-mobility character like Melka, dont be afraid to melee them into a wall or corner so your friend can finish them off, or you finish them off. Trust me. The speed at which Galt smacks people is super super super super silly. Use it.
Galt can be augmented many, many different directions, but here is my preferred helix. I will supply a version without any additional helix unlocks and then with unlocks. I have not experimented too much with a scrap-trap themed helix, but I feel as though it won’t be as strong as the one i currently use.
How to tie Galt’s shoelaces together and prank him real hard.
Galt is a bit of a b*tch.
Melee Battleborn are never going to have the upper hand here. With invisible scrap traps Galt most likely has one he just stunned you with, and one in his escape route so if he is losing and you chase, you get stunned and he can turn on you.
Armour penetration works wonders here. My experience tells me that healers don’t really see Galt as a high priority to heal, and often leave him till last. Long range characters absolutely dominate him since he simply cannot do anything but hide – which takes him out of the game if he is in an awkward position. Do not get too close. Galt is waiting for you to enter his hook range and due to the nature of long-ranged classes, he will melt you like butter that is pretty much already melted.
ISIC’s shield also deflects hooks, ISIC isn’t the best guy to kill Galt but I thought i should mention it.
Characters that have area of effect abilities excel at killing scrap traps since they are most likely invisible. If you really want to shut down Galt just spam the area he seems to be camping.
Thorn seems to be a direct counter to Galt. With her AOE abilities, armour penetration helix at higher character level, range and speed make her a real frustration to hook and hit as Galt. Oscar Mike also does wonders.
Galt does not have a huge amount of health, whittle him down from a distance and keep him out of the fight.
