Gifts Of The Nile Scenario Guide

Overview

A strategy guide for playing the Gifts Of The Nile scenario from the Nubia DLC

Overview

This scenario is a head-to-head race between two Nile civs, Egypt & Nubia to be the first to build 7 temples in 125 turns.

Both civs start on the Nile. Egypt to the north. Nubia to the south. While you can war with each other don’t count on rushing cos you can only issue a DoW after 20 turns. And if you do, you’ll remain at war until the end. Meanwhile you’ll face wave after wave of foreign invaders from Hyskos, Libiya, Macedon, Persia & Assyria amongst others laying waste to all in their path.

Egypt

If at all possible remain at peace with Nubia. Befriend Amanitore as a trading partner and ally if you can. Instead focus your attention on defeating foreign hordes and settling the lush Nile river delta, for food and faith.

In your first 6 turns you will have use of 2 Nubian archers which you can use to conquer 2 city-states.

With your first settler, settle the bank of the Red Sea on or near present day Suez. fortify and defend against the first wave of cavalry. Conquer the neighbouring city-state (with the Pyramids) to fortify and control the mouth of the Nile. Conquer the two commercial city states to the south for the achievement From Med to Red to the Land of the Dead.

Using the Mercenaries policy levy allied city state units to help fend off invaders. Liberate city-states when possible.

Continue to settle the river delta building holy sites on the Nile while holding out against invading forces. Use faith to purchase temples being sure to stay a step ahead of Nubia.

There are only two religious city states in the game, so be sure to ally with or control at leat one of them FTW.

Nubia

Rush Egypt with your advanced ranged units and pummel her before she can build her chariot archer.

Spam out slingers (which you can upgrade to the Nubian archers) and more archers and DoW on Egypt on turn 20. Liberate city states if they have no holy site (or can give you faith as a religious CS).

You have to completely eliminate Egypt from the game for a Domination victory. Not just capture its capital.
