Overview
This is a quick guide for the Game Mode mod GorgeCraft. This is a mod where the aim of the game is to build whatever you want in peace.
What is GorgeCraft?
It is a mod of Natural Selection 2(ns2), focusing on building to make art. Giving players the chance to create all the things they’d like to have done with the buildings in ns2. The mod screams ‘build whatever you can with the tools available to you’. Controlling a Gorge/ExoGorge, players can build 15 alien, and 10 marine, buildings from ns2 to create their vision. It is the first part of a GorgeWorld trilogy.
What is the history of GorgeCraft?
GorgeCraft was the 2nd big ns2 mod I created, the other being proving grounds. Originally started in April 2012, just after the appearances of clogs in the game, it was worked on continuously until September 2012. After a break due to life, I picked up Proving Grounds again, but eventually hit a wall, realising the scope of the game I wanted to create was way above and beyond my current abilities, so I decided to refocus on GorgeCraft. The original plans for GorgeCraft were as 1 giant mod with 3 game modes, but I decided to break this down, and spin the ideas off into their own mods. Thus the GorgeWorld Trilogy was born. It will comprise of 3 very different mods the first of which is GorgeCraft.

How do I play GorgeCraft?
First, you have to own ns2. Then you have to go to the ns2 steam workshop and subscribe to the mod to download it. Once you have it downloaded, just go into the mods list on the main menu, activate the mod and click restart. The mod is loaded. Now just start your own server and play away, or invite your friends to play with you.
Players spawn as a Gorge, a character who builds items from a build menu. The game play is all about Gorge building, and has 15 buildings to choose spread across 3 build menu’s. There are 4 weapon slots in use:
1 – No weapon, this is used when not in a build mode. Heal spray still available.
2- 1st Build Menu
3 – 2nd Build Menu
4 – 3rd Build Menu
Players can press ‘G’ which is the default ‘Drop’ key to switch to ExoGorge. The ExoGorge has 10 buildings on 2 build menu’s and 3 weapon slots in use:
1 – Fist/Welder
2 – 1st Build Menu
3 – 2nd Build Menu
Players have Exo thrusters in both modes, press space to climb higher. Pressing ‘Crouch’ which is ‘Ctrl’ by default, causes you to hover, making it easier to place items where you want them.
Objects can be stacked and some can be rotated. Choose the buildings through the menu’s in the same way as a gorge in ns2, buildings with rotation require a 2nd click after placement to set the rotation.
Players can press weapon ‘5’ at anytime to switch from playermode, into spectator mode. When in spectator made, the GorgeCraft logo appears at the top of teh screen, but other than that the HUD is clean for screenshots. Spectator is in ‘free-look’ mode at all times. Pressing weapon ‘5’ while in spectator mode turns you back into a Gorge.
