GRiD 2: Achievement Guide for GRID 2

GRiD 2: Achievement Guide

Overview

A complete guide on all of the achievements to help you score that extra perfect game.

Introduction

Welcome to another guide, this time we’ll be looking at GRiD 2. This game is farily easy to complete with alot of added DLC that is needed to finish some of the achievements. However, you can farm them pretty well and shouldn’t have any problems. Anyway, lets look at the numbers.

  • Achievement Difficulty – 5/10
  • Completion Time – 25+ Hours
  • Achievements – 50
  • DLC Achievements – 10
    • Spa-Francorchamps Track Pack – 4
    • Bathurst Track Pack – 4
    • Classic Grid Pack – 2

Ok, so you’ve just bought the game and there are several ways that you can start playing this game. Since there are some Online achievements, you could start there, or do the single player campaign, it realy does not matter I personally did the Main Campaign to get a feel for the game before I attempted to do the online gaming, as I was used to the game, I was able to win some games online quite easily and this gave me some more points and got me to the online achievements a little quicker.

Playthrough 1
So with what I said above I recommend starting with the Single Player WSR (World Series Racing). This is split into five different seasons and you’ll get new cars as you proceed through the seasons, they are almost classed, Tier A-E etc. There is one achievement that you need to start working on, and that is “You rOCDed” – you must win every single race/event. Don’t worry, this can be farmed at the end. You also get the opportunity to complete “Career Sponsor Objectives”, completing a set number nets you another achievement.

Playthrough 2
This isn’t really a complete second playthrough, but you just want to revisit races that you did not win or special races that have set requirements to net achievements.

Playthrough 3
Now it’s time to tackle the online mutliplayer, there is one achievement that you need to be stuck at the top of the leaderboard in your friends list. There rest is quite grindy, your starter car you want to level it up into another tier to get another achievement.

Plauthrough 4
Finally, the last few achievements to net, the DLC. 3 Different track packs with a total of 10 achievements spread out between the 3.

Story Progression Achievements

Right, lets start with the WSR achievements that are unmissable or you need to do a few things to get them.

Here’s My Number, Call Me Maybe?

You returned Callahan’s call and became his poster boy for the World Series of Racing.

You’ll get this after the introduction race, unmissable.

T3XT M3SSAG1NG I5 GR8

Thanks to you, the WSR is now the talk of the town.

This is unlocked after completing all the club races in Season 1.

A Vision of What’s to Come

You won a career Promo Event.

You will get promo events all throughout the WSR. The first one is in Season 1, it’ll be under a red banner on the Main Career Menu called “Invitational”, simply win that event to unlock this.

That New Showroom Smell

Having wowed the crowds in America, it’s time to upgrade your digs.

You unlock this after completing WSR Season 1.

SWAGtastic!

You beat the target time in a Vehicle Challenge.

As you progress through the WSR, similar to the promo events, you’ll also get Vehicle challenges, they too are in the Invitational part, beat the time and you got another.

Winging It

You’ve won a LiveRoute event.

A Live Route race is a kinda cool race, the track changes so no lap is the same. You encounter these races early on, win it and you got it.

Internet Famous

The message boards are alight with the talk of the WSR’s increasing popularity.

This is unlocked after completing all the club races in Season 2.

Oriental Express

Look out Asia, here we come.

You unlock this after completing WSR Season 2.

Clubbed to Death

That’s it, folks. The club format is behind you, it’s all about the leagues now. Good luck!

This is unlocked after completing all the club races in Season 3.

Could It Be Magic?

You beat all of the Prestige drivers in career club events.

This is another natural achievement, you come across all club drivers by Season 3. Simply make sure you finish ahead of them to unlock this.

Going Global

The WSR goes from regional to global thanks to your impressive form.

You unlock this after completing WSR Season 3.

Even Balboa Had a Montage

The WSR is so big now that it’s even getting montages on TV. You’ve made it to the big time!

You unlock this after completing WSR Season 4.

Toca Juniors No More

You got your first taste of a Super Touring Car and never looked back.

This’ll unlock as soon as you start Season 5.

The World’s Greatest

Congratulations, you have become the ultimate WSR champion. What an investment!

You unlock this after completing WSR Season 5.

Jack of All Trades

You’ve competed in all race types.

You will get this by the end of the WSR, should be during Season 3, the race types are.

  • Checkpoint
  • Drift
  • Eliminator
  • Endurance
  • Faceoff
  • Overtake
  • Race
  • Time Attack
  • Touge

Harlem Globeshaker

You raced at every city at least once.

This’ll come naturally to you as well, you should have this well before Season 4, but here are the list of each city – there are 14 in total.

  • Algrave
  • Barcelona
  • Brands Hatch
  • California
  • Chicago
  • Cote D’Azur
  • Dubai
  • Hong Kong
  • Indianapolis
  • Miami
  • Paris
  • Okutama
  • Red Bull Ring (RBR)
  • Yas Marina

Mo Money, No Problems

You’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty and completed 5 career sponsor objectives.

Each season ,you will get the opportunity to add decal’s to your car, you must first do sponsor objectives, do 5 to unlock this, if you’re going for full completion, you need to do these.

Sellout

You’ve got one thing on your mind: money! You completed 20 career sponsor objectives.

You unlock fans by completing these objectives, so I recommend doing them, you also need them to complete the game fully, so keep on doing them. They don’t have to be the hardest ones, do the easiest if you prefer.

You rOCDed!

You finished first in every career event, during season play and/or via the timeline.

So, you’ve won every race have you? If so, well done on getting this – if you haven’t, just use the timeline.

Specific Achievements

Now lets take a look at the easy specific achievements, what I mean here is that you must use a certain car and do something with it, or do someone special in the race.

Flawless Victory

You’ve won an Overtake event making no contact with anything. (Excludes Global Challenge events)

For this achievement, you have to win an overtaking event without making contact. The first opportunity you get to do this is in Season 1 in the Promo event where you can achieve the max multiplier, simply don’t crash.

Touge Fast, Touge Furious

You shutout an opponent in a career Touge event.

You first get access to the Touge events after Season 2. If you’re not familiar with the concept, it’s rather simple. You 1v1 an opponent and try to create a gap of 5 seconds or more to completely shut out the opponent, otherwise, just stay in front when you eventually run out of road. So to get this achievement you need to win both rounds and “shutout” your opponent, if you’re struggling, switch the difficulty to Very Easy.

C-C-C-Combo Maker

You reached the maximum multiplier in an Overtake event.

This took me a few tries to get this, again, the even is exactly what it says it is. You overtake as many cars as possible to score as many points as possible and keep the timer going. If you collide with a car or crash, you’re multiplier gets reset to 0. The easiest place to get this achievement is in the first promo event in Season 1. Just replay it a few times until you get it, again, if you’re struggling, switch the difficulty to Very Easy.

Pinball Wizard

You traded paint with every competitor during one offline race and still won the race.

I personally did this on the first race after the Introductory race. There are only 5 opponents in this race and as a starter race, it’s pretty easy to do, even on Normal. Just simply rub your car against them as you’re passing.

Sideways Shenanigans

You performed a 100m drift.

I got this achievement really early on, it’ll come through natural progression. I don’t think you’ll miss it though.

Beginner’s Luck

You set the fastest time on the first lap of a Time Attack event.

This achievement is very easy to get, there are several ways to do it. Either in the main career, or by starting a custom event and setting the difficulty to Very Easy.

Remember Me?

You lapped a competitor.

Again, make a custom event with the difficulty set to very easy and a high number of laps, then race and over take last place.

Eat It!

You won the first round of a career Touge event using the 5 second rule.

You can miss this achievement, however, from what I said earlier about Touge, you must use the 5 second rule to take the first round. So to make this as easy as possible, set the difficulty to Very Easy and then speed off.

Making My Way Down Town

You’ve driven more than 1,000 miles (1,610km).

This achievement isn’t as hard as it looks. You will rack this up simply by playing through the WSR and by doing the Online races as well, depending on how good you are depends on when you will unlock this achievement. If you win all races, you’ll most likely get it during the online play.

Pedal to the Medal

You won a round of a career event without using the brakes.

You can do this achievement in a variety of ways, different tracks, events etc. The easiest way to do this is on the race after the Introduction. You can pretty much drive around without touching your brakes as most of it is actually uphill. Set the AI to very Easy and just toggle the throttle around the tight bends, but as I said, you should do this with ease.

Imma Let You Finish

You amassed more fans than Taylor Swift has Twitter followers. That’s 23.5 million, by the way.

I’m pretty sure that Taylor Swift has more Twitter followers now, but hey, it doesn’t live update so who cares. You get fans by winning races and doing decal sponsors, you should get this towards the end of the WSR. You gain fans by completing promo events and invitational ones.

Timeline Achievements

These achievements are centered around using the Timeline, certain cars etc.

Vanishing Point

You’ve won a race in a white Dodge Challenger but lived to tell the tale, unlike Kowalski.

You need to play through the WSR until you reach Season 2 and you unlock the Dodge Challenger SRT8. You need to set a paint livery for this car of just White with no pattern. After you’ve done this, just race the car in an event and make sure that you place first. You can amend the difficulty if necessary.

Rocket Manski

You’ve driven faster than a Russian torpedo, which incidentally is 230 mph.

I’ve placed this achievement here because it does kinda require you to use the timeline. You firstly need to progress quite far through the game until Season 5, once there you unlock Koenigsegg Agera R. Once you’re introduced to a promo event around Paris, you want to race through the tunnel and just keep accelerating right up until the wall (you’ll have to flashback of course, but you’ll get the achievement).

Ring Master

You finished 5 seconds ahead of the target time in a Vehicle Challenge on the Red Bull Ring.

*NOTE* – You can miss this achievement. You get about 3 opportunities in the WSR to do this. To put it in real simple terms, you have a set time, make sure you’re 5 seconds under it.

California Dreaming

You completed California Big Sur in under 3 minutes.

I suggest you wait until Season 5 which is when you unlock a decent vehicle. I say that you will need a few runs at this, but I did it in one with about .100 left to spare. You can however create a custom race with AI Drivers on Easy. Learn the route and you should be okay.

The Artist

You’ve individually applied customized liveries to 5 vehicles.

This one is real simple, once you own 5 vehicles, just make a custom livery for all of them.

Quantum Leap

You repeated an event using the Timeline.

After the first event, you unlock the Timeline, just load it up and replay an event.

Difficult Achievements

There are some tricky ones that you will need to grind, at least some of them took me ages..

Tokyo Drift

You scored 350,000 drift points in Okutama in a Mazda RX-7 TYPE RZ or a NISMO R34T-R Z-TUNE.

This took me absolutely ages, I suck at drifting and there is no easy way to do this. I looked up other guides and found that these settings are the best.

  • Race Type: Drift
  • Vehicle Tier: Tier Two
  • Rounds: 1 Round
  • AI Drivers: Very Easy
  • Flashbacks (Advanced Options): Unlimited
  • Track Selection: Okutama – Tenshi Way – Day
  • Vehicle: Nissan Nismo R34T-R Z-Tune

After a few hours, I did get it. There is no easy way for me to help you, just watch YouTube videos (I’ll put one in) and keep close to the flags at all times to score the maximum amount of points.

Shaken, Not Stirred

You rolled a car at least 7 times and landed on its wheels, just like Bond did.

This isn’t as hard as it sounds, but still took me a while to get it – a friend “accidentally” got it, I think by a mere fluke. Now to count this, they must be legitimate barrel rolls. I read two different guides on how to do this, but in the end, used these settings.

  • Race Type: Race
  • Vehicle Tier: Tier Two (Recommended)
  • Rounds: 1 Round
  • Flashbacks (Advanced Options): Unlimited
  • Track Selection: Hong Kong – Magazine Gap – Day
  • Vehicle: Nissan Nismo R34T-R Z-Tune

The only advice I can give you is via a YouTube clip, you need to be around the 50% mark and distance yourself from the AI (right at the back), you have the unlimited flashbacks as well which do help, again this YouTube video is not my work.

Master Racer

You won a career event on the hardest difficulty without using Flashbacks.

Depending on how good a racer you depends on how quickly you will get this achievement. I didn’t get it first time, I had to try once or twice to do it. Now I did this on the very first “official” race that is available to you, I set the AI to the hardest difficulty and no flashbacks and I won the event. You can pretty much cruise around the whole track without braking which is good, but I’ll admit, the finish was rather close. just restart the race if you’re not going to win.

Gone in 60 Seconds

You completed a lap of Chicago – Wabash Run driving the Ford Mustang Mach 1 in less than 60 seconds.

This took me forever, a good few hours at least, because I ended up doing it online and that really did not help. I later learned that you can do it with custom settings. You must UPGRADE THIS CAR FIRST BEFORE DOING THIS, otherwise you set yourself up for hours of rage.

  • Race Type: Race
  • Vehicle Tier: Tier One
  • Rounds: 1 Round
  • AI Drivers: Very Easy
  • Grid Order (Advanced Options): Random
  • Flashbacks (Advanced Options): Unlimited
  • Track Selection: Chicago – Wabash Run – Day – 5 Laps
  • Vehicle: Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special

As you are racing AI, if you haven’t got it before Lap 5, just restart, as they’ll just get in your way. Avoid drifting where possible, but once again, YouTube saves the day.

Drifting Like a Boss

You’ve scored 250,000 points in a single drift.

Again, difficult, stupid achievement. Use the same settings.

  • Race Type: Drift
  • Vehicle Tier: Tier Two
  • Rounds: 1 Round
  • AI Drivers: Very Easy
  • Flashbacks (Advanced Options): Unlimited
  • Track Selection: Okutama – Tenshi Way – Day
  • Vehicle: Nissan Nismo R34T-R Z-Tune

Just keep as close to the flags as possible to try and get it, but when I finally did it, I only just did it.

Online Achievements

Now we take a look at the Online achievements that this game has to offer.

All Night Long

You took part in and completed an online Endurance race.

All you need to do for this is custom search for an Endurance race and join a race/lobby with 1 more other player and fiish the race.

One For The Team

You’ve completed an individual Global Challenge goal and ultimately helped the community.

On the GRiD Online section, you’ll see the Global Challnge under the Event menu. Just complete this to a bronze level or above and you’ll unlock the achieveent.

A Different Class

You’ve upgraded a car and bumped it to ‘Upgraded’ class.

This is exactly what the achievement says, al lyou need to do is upgrade a pruchased car online, you can only do this online. Once you’ve upgraded it into the next class, this ahievement will unlock.

Keep Your Friends Close…

… and your enemies even closer. You beat a Rival on track.

You need to beat one of your online rivals to get this achievement, the only way to do this is with a friend, after you’ve gone to the website[racenet.codemasters.com] and added them. Click on the social bo and invite your friend and then do the race and win!

Dipping Your Toes

You’ve reached level 10 online and opened up a new world of possibilities.

To reach Level 10, you need to earn approximately 250,000+ credits which can be quite a grind unless you want to win lots of games. I just played whatever whenever to get this achievement, but a lot of people say that its easiest to get it in the Alternate playlist with the endurance races etc.

Social Butterfly

You took part in an online playlist and stuck around for at least 5 races.

This can be a grind if people keep leaving, but should be ok, just join a playlist and keep playing for 5 races or so. You will obtain this in roughly 20-25minutes.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

You won a race in an upgraded car.

This is online only, obviously. once you’ve upgraded a car, then you simply need to win a race using it.

Global Domination

You won a week of Global Challenge.

Once you’re on the online menu, select Global Challenge. here you can select from 5 different events, by completing these events, you will earn poits of the weekly leaderboard, simply remain at the top to get the achievement.

Natural Ability

You won an Online Playlist event.

All you need to do is win an event from one of the playlists, the easiest thing to do is to join a Touge event or Face-off event as you are only playing against one other player.

DLC: Spa-Francorchamps Track Pack

First up is the Spa DLC which consists of the well known Belgium Spa race track, there are a total of 4 achievements to obtain from this DLC.

Spa Time

Beat a lap time of 01:49:00 at Spa-Francorchamps. (Excludes drift events)

You can create a custom event in the WSR with the following settings.

  • Race
  • Track: Spa-Francorchamps
  • Tier 4
  • Unlimited Flashbacks
  • 2 Laps

You need to use either the Bugatti Veyron or the Audi R8, both of them are decent cars to get this achievement. I suggest learning the track before trying to do this, if you practice, you shouldn’t have a problem.

Staying the Distance

Complete an online Endurance race at Spa-Francorchamps.

You should do this with a friend in a custom match. If you want to match with a friend, both of you must have the DLC, so a pretty easy achievement to get.

Super Drift

Score over 300,000 points in a single drift at Spa-Francorchamps.

I hated ths achievement, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥’s such a bad achievement and I can’t even comprehend or even begin to explain how I managed to do this. I must have been at it for hours, all I can advise is to put unlimited flashbacks on and just keep practicing with a nice drift-y car.

Rogue Racer

Drive faster than 260mph (418.429km/h) at Spa-Francorchamps.

This is a real easy achievement to get, here are the settings that you want to use.

  • Race (Spa GP)
  • Tier 4
  • Unlimited Flashbacks
  • 1 Lap
  • Koenigsegg Agera R

All you need to do is race down the back straight and keep on going!

DLC: Bathurst Track Pack

Second DLC with 4 achievements to get.

Aussie Rules

Beat a lap time of 01:39:00 at Bathurst. (Excludes drift events)

In the WSR, just create a custom race with the following settings.

  • Race (Mount Panorama)
  • Tier 4
  • Unlimited Flashbacks
  • 2 Laps
  • Bugatti Veyron

Learn the track and keep practicing, use the flashbacks where needed.

Bush-bash

Complete a Time Attack event at Bathurst.

The is another easy achievement as well, just create a custom time attack even on Mount Panorama, choose any car and complete the event.

Time Extended

Win an online Checkpoint event at Bathurst.

I recommend doing this with a friend, I personally did it and it worked. The event you want to do is Checkpoint (Mount Panorama), other settings don’t matter at all. As I said, do this with a friend and then return the favour. Make sure that you both have the DLC first of course.

Outback and Gone

Reach a speed of 220mph (354.056km/h) at Bathurst.

This is another easy achievement to get as well, just create a custom race with the following settings.

  • Race (Mount Panorama)
  • Tier 4
  • Unlimited Flashbacks
  • 1 Lap
  • Koenigsegg Agera R

After the first turn, just accelerate and you’ll get this achievement easy.

DLC: Classic GRID Pack

A very very short DLC, only 2 achievements here.

An Old Favourite

Win an elimination event in a Pagani Zonda Revolución.

Another real easy achievement to get, select a custom Elimination event with 1 round and pick the Zonda, win it by setting the difficulty to Very Easy and you’re done.

Turn Back Time

Win a drift event in a Koenigsegg CCGT (excludes Global Challenge events).

Another easy one to get, create a custom event with the following settings.

  • Drift
  • Tier 4
  • 1 Round
  • Unlimited Flashbacks
  • Any Track

Select the Koenigsegg CCGT and away you go, change the AI to very easy and the worlds your oyster.

Closing Remarks

Hopefully, you’ve now completed another game and bagged another 60 achievements. The games itself is not too taxing, but somethings can really drag out.

The AI are pretty good to race against and the different difficulty levels are noticeable. The online multiplayer is quite fun if you ever have a go, I have played quite a few hours there, but never seen anybody “troll” or deliberately crash into other people, there is some rough racing, but of course, you expect that.
